Just found out that SquareTrade doesn't cover a refurbished iPhone. Anyone know if the Applecare warranty does?

Apple Care for Refurbished iPhones?

Your rights under the Plan are in addition to any warranty rights you may be entitled to. You must purchase and register the Plan while your Apple-branded iPhone is within Apple’s One Year Limited warranty. Apple is not obligated to renew this Plan. If Apple does offer a renewal, it will determine the price and terms.

Okay so refurbished iPhones have no extended warranty option then?

Important Note

The AppleCare Protection Plan can be purchased only while your iPhone is still covered under the standard one-year limited warranty. See AppleCare Protection Plan Terms and Conditions for complete product details.

got it from AppleCare's link
So as long as the refurb iPhone that you got from AT&T has an original purchase date (from the original owner of course)
of less than a year, then you can purchase the AppleCare to extend your warranty.

Yes, just so that this is "crystal clear" . . . whatever device, refurbished or new, still is within the original Apple warranty period, you CAN extend the warranty via Apple Care.

A few minutes ago, I put both phones under contract and have the confirmation from Apple that they are covered until July 24, 2011 and August 16, 2011. That would indicate that the phones were activated on different dates, however since the 3GS is barely six months old, they should all qualify for Apple Care at the present time.

How about a straight answer? Is a refurbished iphone purchased from AT&T during this last deal, able to be covered under the Applecare warranty or not?

I think the answer given above was pretty straightforward. What was it that you didn't understand?

on hold with att now. they have to charge me full retail 150 and then credit me the $100 in 7 days. ugh but oh well

edit; got the order in for the correcdt price, hopefully will ship overnight and get here tomorrow :/

I'm also on hold with them. Since they decided to cancel my order 2 times and make a total of 3 orders because of the back ordering they have pulled out 103.88 3 freaking times! Now my bank account has a total of 311.64 pending that I can not use!

AT&T is not making a first time customer happy.

And they are still saying the 2 white iphones that I ordered are still on back order. They better not pull another 103.88 out from my bank if they cancel the 3rd order and make a new one before they actually send them out.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

So this is what I'm working with now....this was the first time it was canceled from a few pages back.

Now they canceled the 2nd order and made a 3rd order that is not seen on this status update...

Well... I'm elated!

I stumbled upon this deal by accident, and I have to say I'm pleased.

I ordered a 32gb Black 3G S at around 8 PM on Friday, and had it by 10:30 Monday morning... exceptional! No problems!

Having paid $400 for the original iPhone right after its initial price cut in August 2007, I'm pleased with the new phone. The 8Gb hasn't been enough for me since the beginning, and this is a god send. now I can have all the music I want, my 3GB of apps and a season or two of shows on my device with no strains!

3G is so much faster then my old edge... I didnt realize that I subconsciously stopped using the internet because it worked so slow. Along with the additional performance improvements... I can't say enough.

And the money I saved is unreal. If I had bought a new 3GS, I'd of course be out $300.. which in my current situation was NOT doable, but I wouldn't buy anything new unless it had at least 30Gb of storage. I saved 150$ off the normal price (even though its a refurb), plus they waived the upgrade fee of 18$... so I saved 170! Plus overnight shipping to boot... which is a great given my incredible shortage of patience.

Additionally, I have my warranty until September 23, and yes, you can get AppleCare, I ONLY bought the phone because I could, I researched this BEFORE I pressed the Buy Button. I have no problem with refurbs... I had my 2G replaced 9x with refurbs. As far as I care, if I bought a new one and it broke, I would have gotten a refurb ANYWAY.

And since I had gotten my old 2G replaced on September the 1st, I have an almost new, dent-less, scratch free, shiny 2G, with a decent battery, in its original box with its original receipt.. for back up purposes (if my new phone breaks or runs out of juice) and for posterity, of course :)

sorry if this is a dumb question...

...but how do you get the apple care on these refurbs? do i need their serial numbers or something.

sorry, i'm really new to the iPhone game but LOVING it so far!

Anyone know of a good cheap case? I bought the iFrogz off overstock and put it on today, but it doesn't seem like it'd protect it in a fall. I'm thinking of the Switcheasy (I believe) Color. Seems like it'd be the best protection and it's cheap.

When does AT&T begin your billing cycle for a new iPhone? Is it when you purchase it or when you activate it? Are all these people waiting for these phones being billed as we speak? I have a friend who bought a phone when I told her about this deal but she still has a month before she's out of contract with Sprint, I wanted to know if she'll have to pay 2 bills or if it would work to just wait a month to activate the iPhone.

backorder issues

been having similar issues as described on here with the backordering.

I placed an order late on black friday for the 3GS white refurb 16GB. I used the online chat to ask a few questions about how to handle the porting of a number over to AT&T and the guy told me it would ship monday and i sholud get it tuesday or wednesday. That's cool.

On Monday I checked the status and it said "canceled", I called customer service to find out why it was canceled and they told me it wasn't really canceled but that they had to make a new order number to get it into the right warehouse and that i sholud get the phones on wednesday. OH ok, well it freaked me out alittle bit since this is a gift for my wife and it said it was canceled.

On wednesday i checked the order status and it said canceled again. I called customer service agent, this time to find out why my bank account shows the charges 2x and to make sure there wasn't a mistake that we needed to clear up. I was very courteous, but the guy acted like he didn't believe me. And he told me that the 2nd order number wasn't a real order number and he couldn't pull it up. But I was logged in and could see it on my computer. I called again, got a different person and got a different set of answers. She said the order had shipped and i would get it friday.

Today (friday) i check the order status and it says canceled again. Now I have a new order number again.

I understand that backordering happens, but they make the situation really confusing by canceling yoru order and not providing a straight explanation (or giving you different explanations each time you call).

The thing that irritates me though is that they shouldn't have run the special and promised free overnight shipment of the order if they coudn't fulfill it. We live in a day where you can monitor your inventory, real time, and accurately offer commitments based on real information.

Harlan07 - You and I are having the same issues.

It looks like now my iphones have finally been shipped and I will receive them on Monday.

Checking my balances at the bank it looks like AT&T dropped one of the pending over charges. But I still show they are pending 2 more. We will see how this goes soon. Thank god I had enough money in the bank or they would have made me go negative and put an overdraft fee on my account.

Hope the phones look ok when I actually get them. I'll keep you posted.

Yeah, so I called them once again when it showed up as being back ordered. We told them that since the white ones are backordered, then we just want to change the color even if it is on backorder also. The woman on the phone told us that the order seemed to be black. We said it says white on the order status. She didn't know the problem and said they would call back and give us information. Well, they called back and we explained our situation. They said they were going to transfer us to the Premier Services. After 38 minutes on hold, it comes up "Our offices are closed, we are sorry." As this point, we are livid and are threatening to cancel our service with Cingular/AT&T after 14 years of service with them...

After a whole bunch of nonsense and yelling at AT&T reps...

it should finally be here, on my doorstep on Monday

I hope that everyone who had trouble with AT&T will call them up and make sure that they receive significant credit to their accounts for all of the inconvenience and for the amount of your time that they wasted.

Same here. Looks like they finally fixed the bank account thing too. Finally. I will call them when I have to set up the phone on monday to have them credit me something.

mine finally shipped this morning. expected tuesday delivery. I'm sure i'll be at work and the nearest fedex is an hour drive, which is gonna suck

still waiting for my 2 Iphone 3gs's black order . Orders are showing "in progress" after 1st cancel and fix. Talk to premier on Thursday and was told that new shipments were coming in on Friday and Saturday. Did you guys get your tracking number from wireless.att.com/order_status/ or the a rep on the phone?

depending on your definition of "cheap" I'd go with an Otterbox case from amazon http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=otterbox+iphone&x=0&y=0 They start as cheap as 9.99 for just silcone and then move up to 30 for the best protection . The $30 dollar defender case is the best imo.

On side note anyone else get tracking numbers and if yes, where from: csr or website?

sigh, I guess I didn't make this shipment. Maybe it's a coast thing, i'm on the east coast no email. I order @ 8:00 am on black Friday via the phone because the site thought good 3g coverage meant none.
