Am I screwed? Warranty of mine expires on Sep 30, 2010.

just did, says:
Telephone Technical Support: Active
Your product is eligible for complimentary single-incident telephone technical support during the first 90 days.
Expires: December 27, 2009***

Repairs and Service Coverage: Active
Your product is covered for eligible hardware repairs and service under Apple's Limited Warranty.
Expires: September 27, 2010

***why first 90 days but it expires in 26 days? This typical?

It is with refurbs -- but it's just a minor hassle that usually is worth the savings. What happens is that some upstream activity like it clearing the refurbisher or something causes it to be registered as being sold again, and so the clock started ticking before you got it. If it came to you using either aspect of your warranty, you can always just show Apple the receipt or fax it to them and they happily fix your warranty dates. I think there's even a link for it on that page.

It happened with original iPhone refurbs also.

So what your saying is the refurbs would still be covered for 1 year ?

I think so, at least directly by Apple -- if you look at those warranty numbers, the warranty is already listed as going to 09/27/2010 or something -- that's about 10 mos from now. I think they'll extend out to 1 yr. But someone will have to try it and find out for sure.

AT&T probably only does provide 90 days though.

P.S. Damn, filling a 32GB iPod over USB is slow!!!! :D

"New Apple branded equipment is covered by Apple's one-year Limited Warranty. Refurbished Apple branded equipment is covered under Apple's original Limited Warranty, and will have at least 90 days or more remaining under the warranty when sold."(from AT&T website).

The warranty of mine expires on Sep 30, 2010. I think the original owner bought this device on Sep 30, 2009 and then returned it to AT&T.

PS: I received an old headphone too.

Okay, at this point I'm really effing pissed off.

I ordered a 3GS 16GB White. I kept checking the order and it was on backorder. Then I check it today and it says the order was cancelled. So I call and ask why.

After about a half an hour on hold, they finally tell me that it says it was cancelled because the warehouse they were shipping it out of ran out of them and they had to change warehouses.

Well I just went to check on the order status again and they're now shipping a BLACK 3G!!!

I tried to call them, but their hours of operation end at 10 and it is now 11 where I live.

I'm LIVID

So I just got off the phone with AT&T and they confirmed that everything is the same even though the order shows completely different descriptions. They will be leaving on Wednesday the 2nd. Hope I get what I ordered.

I really hope this is the case. Because we are having the EXACT same issues.

I sent them a pretty gnarly email and then I read what you posted. So I sent them another one saying that I apologize if the right phone shows up at my door.

AT&T is already difficult.

Got mine yesterday!!!!!!!!!! How has everyone's battery life been?

Right now I turned notifications on (but not Push, since I don't have much to push on my iPhone), and I guess probably some other things that burn more battery life, but it doesn't seem any better than my original iPhone -- listening to NPR News for a half hour on my walk in still seems to burn a fair amount of energy. But nothing particularly worse. Looks like it'll still be charge-every-night for me, but I'm used to that.

I do have to say, overall, I'm pleased as ducks. It's really fast. And I have my whole music library on my iPhone for the first time. :)

well, I spoke to a really nice woman at the premiere site yesterday who checked my order and said for some reason my order was put on hold because of high volume traffic on friday. she said it was strange though because the warehouse now had my model in stock so she put a note in my account and said my order should ship soon. so far my order still says processing online so I hope they get it together.

The battery life on the two refurbs is normal for a 3GS. We did yesterday with 3G on all day, moderate use and still had more than 75% on the battery indicator at the end of the evening. Today's test was a whopping 50 min conference call, while in a car, mostly muted, running with that 75% charge from last night. Presently it's down to around the 25% level.

After having to change warehouses they finally said they shipped out my phone.

I get the package today, I open it.

It's the secondary phone on my account. A Samsung Magnet. Of which we already received.

So now I have 2 Samsung Magnets and no iPhone.

On hold with AT&T right now.

They said they were going to overnight the RIGHT phone and it should be here tomorrow. I really hope that's the case, because I want my new toy.

Wow, that would get anyone heated :)
Glad they offered to fix it right away.

The second order on my online status shows its been canceled now. I'm calling in a few. AT&T isn't showing a good impression to a first time buyer.

What's the average battery life for the 3gs? I turned off 3g today since i don't have 3g here. I got mine at about 1pm and charged it. It died later that night and my wake up alarm didn't go off this morning. I charged it up all the way this morning and it's down to about 60% now. About 10 min of wifi, and about 10 minutes in phone calls.

I'm hoping i just didn't charge it all the way the first time. I knew the battery life wasn't awesome, but dang, one day?

On my new unit, it is showing 4HR 1Min Usage; 1 Day, 6 Hours Standby since the last full charge, which was the evening between Monday and Tuesday. Theres 34% showing on the battery indicator since that charge. The amount I posted in the previous reply was an estimate since I didn't activate the "percentage" option in the Usage setting.

With BT and the 3G radio off, you should be getting more than a day on a full charge, providing you're not using other power sapping options like playing a lot of media or having the screen on constantly.

You may want to look into the battery monitoring apps and verify what's going on before taking a trip down to the Genius desk.

Just found out that SquareTrade doesn't cover a refurbished iPhone. Anyone know if the Applecare warranty does?

So, I am also having shipping issues. I was ordering a BLACK 16GB refurb on November 27 online, and suddenly, the AT&T had "technical difficulties" processing my order. So we called and ordered. Everything went through for a BLACK 16GB iPhone. They charged my credit card on Monday. Yesterday, I checked the order status. It showed up as a WHITE 16GB iphone and it was still processing. I called and asked them about this and just told them that if black was on back-order don't change it. They didn't give a straight answer and recommended I keep it white so it'll ship. Ok, I can deal with a case.
TODAY, I checked the order status again and it still says processing. We called AGAIN. This person told me they COULDN'T change the order to black. Ok, whatever. I also asked them a ship date. They had no clue and said they would put in a signal telling the warehouse to ship it because it has been 5 days. I also asked them about overnight shipping because that is what was advertised on the website. They said the guy who originally placed my order put 2 day shipping and they COULDN'T change it. I'm kind of pissed, but w/e, I just want my iPhone.

HOPEFULLY it'll ship tomorrow and I'll get in Friday or Monday.

Wow, all these stories of wrong products, wrong sizes, wrong colors, are just crazy! Considering all the informatics that goes into ordering a cell phone (AT&T very efficiently handled my number port and disconnected my T-Mobile account). I can't believe they'd even ask you to keep the wrong product. Makes me grateful too.
