It ended up being a major headache (more on that at the end) but I was able to cancel my AT&T order and order the PACIFIC BLUE 128 at my local Best Buy for pick up later today!

More on the headache.. I cancelled the order on the AT&T website and the cancellation was immediate. However, the system did not reset my upgrade eligibility and in short, I spent 4 hours on phone/chat to get the eligibility reapplied. Luckily my Best Buy still had stock this morning once everything was sorted out.

I learned my lesson and will never pre-order from AT&T again.

So frustrated with AT&T right now. I ordered the phone on 10/17 morning. I got an order confirmation and "estimated shipping date" of 10/19-20/21. I knew that was too good to be true, so I didn't really look into it that much. Well after the 21st, the estimated shipping date disappeared and nothing shows up. I called AT&T last week and they confirmed that they can see my ship date as 10/30-11/6. However, I woke up this morning to see that the charge from AT&T for the phone tax has been cancelled off my credit card. This worries me. I called AT&T and they said my order still shows in progress with no issues and that it's likely the charge will come back on my phone once the device ships.

Has anyone heard of this? I have no issue waiting for the phone but this has been a nightmare just trying to figure out if my order is okay or not.

I ordered 10/16 @ 9:42 a.m. EST. I have a shipping range of 10/26 - 11/2. The hold on my card dropped of this past Friday 10/23. I think that has to do with the card company. They state you will not be charged until it ships. I’m switching from a regional carrier so this is my first dealings with AT&T. I will say from this point forward I will order through Apple.

ATT is a joke. I called again this morning and its the same bs they keep saying. The order is fine on their end and when it ships I will get a tracking confirmation. They are absolutely no help. I explained to her that if I can cancel the order, they should be able to expedite it! They are full of excuses. Its the worst customer service ever!

This is normal. The initial charge you saw was temporary, it's called a hold. Basically checking to make sure you have enough funds on the payment method to cover it. You will see it show up again when the phone actually ships.

I canceled the AT&T order (it was straightforward as jmonte2016 outlined) and immediate. Ordered from Bestbuy and got pickup confirmation - headed there to pick it up.
Best buy didn't have the Pacific Blue 128GB 12 Pro available for Picking up today but did have shipping, already got my Tracking Number and get it tomorrow. I could of got Graphite with Pick up today but I can wait until tomorrow. Just goes to show you AT&T Dragging their feet or there is no or very little stock thanks to apple I don't know. Anyways Congrats!

Don't believe I had ATT early release the phone... I can't remember what iPhone X did on ATT. But people ordering a full 10-15 min before schedule release is crazy

Time ordered is 7:58am.
Order status:
We're working on your order.
Stay tuned-we'll email or text you when it's ready.
Delivery by dates:
October 26, 2020 - November 2, 2020
Agree especially if nothing was said. People ordering at the actual time will already be backordered

Yea banks only leave holds for so long. Once the hold/charge reappears, it is shipping soon. The worst ones are the people who see the hold disappear and think they have money, spend it, and then the order fails for CC Decline when it is preparing to ship.

Here we are, on Tuesday with still no update. ATT chat is less than helpful. Could only say it should ship this week. Oh well.
Same here...no update.

I spoke with a supervisor yesterday and I got the same schpeel other customers have received. This contradicts everything happening, they said the item couldn't ship until it became available on Friday. I called BS on this and said other customers like my neighbor got the item on launch day and tracking information before.

He then had to reiterate the same information that was displayed to me. After waiting 45 minutes on hold they told me nothing I didn't already know.

ATT reps themselves have no idea when they will ship, all they can do is apologize.

Im not even really mad at ATT. This could very well be an issue with Apple hoarding the phones for direct purchases. I wont be actually mad, I am annoyed now, until they miss the November 2 deadline with their shipping window.

Apple is probably hoarding them because they get better profit margins if the cutout ATT I bet.

That could very well be some of the issue, however my main compliant with ATT is that they didn't ship what they did have in the first come first serve order. I ordered WAY before a lot of the people who did receive theirs on Friday. That is why I'm irritated. They are suppose to ship them in order received not randomly. That makes it where preordering is irrelevant.

Yah, ATT ****ed that up pretty bad. I wanna know what kinda internal failure happened to get them all out of order.
Yeah me too. And since its been brought to their attention by many of us, why aren't they doing anything to fix it? They should be expediting our phones and giving us a credit or something. It seems like they don't care about keeping customers.

I wouldn't ask them to credit me something until they missed their initial delivery window. Until that happens, they have done nothing wrong. I was promised my phone by November 2, hopefully I will get it by then.

Well, they are about to miss my window of the 30th.
But they did still fail to follow their guidance on First come first served. I still wouldn’t expect a credit, but some type of prioritization of the order and some decent communication would be nice.

Well considering I preordered to have it on the 23rd, Release day, like I have many years in the past. They already have not done as they should have. Especially when others that ordered after me have received it. Its a principle of it. Like someone said earlier, its like us all going to stand in line at Apple and they begin to help the ones at the back of line instead of the ones at the front. That's not how it works. Had I known preorder with them is now a week after launch day... I would have ordered with Apple. I've preordered every time before and every time both Sprint and ATT gave us a window but delivered on launch day. They clearly dropped the ball on this launch. Lesson learned, never again will I preorder with ATT.
