That is a negative. Do not use the label that came with your box to return your old phone because that label is there to return the new phone if you’re not satisfied with it. You’re supposed to be getting an email from AT&T after you give them the IMIE number of the phone you’re trading in so they can create a case for you to send you an envelope in the mail that will show up 3 to 4 weeks later. If you send your bad your old phone using that return label it won’t get counted as a promotional discount and will probably get missplaced or put in the wrong spot where nobody will know what to do with it.

Please listen to this. I made this mistake with the XS max release and trading in my X and it took 4 months of daily back and forth with ATT and FedEx to prove what I sent went where it wasn’t supposed to. Thankfully I keep good notes and took pictures of the box with the labels to where it went

Really? The instructions indicated to use the label included. I’ll double confirm that in the morning. Thanks for the check on that!

So this started to bug me so I got up to check. The instructions clearly state to use the label (There is only one in the box) and place over the original label on the box the new phone came in. I'll double check with ATT tomorrow as I'm feeling somewhat unsure at this point. Again, thanks for posting that as 4 months of back and forth with ATT is something I'm looking forward to avoiding.

I guess there are 2 kinds of trade in going on with AT&T. 1 for people who are on Next for the previous phone and have to return that phone for the early upgrade to 12. For these people use the box and label your 12 came in. The previous phone won’t qualify for the promotion if you didn’t pay all installments yet.

For those who are trading in a different phone for the promotion, wait for the trade in kit/envelope/label so the promotion will apply correctly.

Yep, that's how I understand it. Never the less, I'll be confirming with AT&T... an ounce of prevention beats a pound of cure every time.

You just saved me a ton of hassle. I suddenly remembered an email I got from AT&T on Friday (release day) morning stating that the trade-in kit comes in another 5-7 days.

Ah, yep. I believe the trade-in promotion is different from the Next plan. ?

First full day on the 12 pro max. Does anyone fully cycle their battery with a new phone? (such as using it from 100% and not charging till it either dies or is at like 1%. Is that a thing still? or no?

I spoke with an AT&T agent on the phone and he told me a separate padded envelope and shipping label will be sent to you 3weeks after you received your new iPhone. He stated for me to NOT use the return shipping label that came with the iPhone because that label is to be used for returning the new iPhone within 14 days if you aren’t happy tied it or have buyers remorse.

I was told that lots of people were sending their trade in iPhone using that label and the iPhone either got lost or it didn’t get used towards the promotion since it wasn’t sent in the correct package. The AT&T reps that received the old iPhone didn’t know what to do with it as it was sent using the return shipping label for the 12 pro etc. I got clarification on this twice, yesterday and two weeks ago.

this is what my intentions say;

Be on the look out for AT&T Trade-in shipping materials. They arrive separately from your new device in 5-7 days
Step 2
Review and complete tasks
outlined on Pre-Shipping
Checklist below
Step 3
Use the AT&T Trade-in shipping materials sent to you. Drop off your old device at a USPS location or a mailbox

Hopefully this helps clear things up.

Oh yes, same thing happened to me back when I upgraded my Note8 to my Note9! I even specifically CALLED AT&T and asked the rep how to trade in my device and THEY said to use the label inside the box, to which I did. What a dumb mistake. So I package my Note8, ship it off. I’m waiting for AT&T to confirm they got the phone. I keep getting texts saying “you need to trade in your phone before you’re charged” and I’m like ... but I did! Fast forward to a couple of weeks later, I get this package from AT&T with a slip saying that I am no longer qualified for a trade in because I didn’t trade in the right phone. I’m like ... what? I look and I see this beat up old LG slide up phone that I have NEVER seen in my life! I call AT&T immediately and explain the situation. The person I spoke to didn’t understand, so I asked to speak to a supervisor. That supervisor explained that I had “originally” shipped them an iPhone 6 - NO ONE in my family had the iPhone 6, so HOW DID THEY GET THE iPHONE 6? And I got back some LG phone?! Long story short, it was a whole month of fighting with AT&T to NOT charge me the $500 for the remaining balance of the phone. They DID end up doing it and I had to call for the 30th time and argue with them for over an hour before they finally credited me back the money. After that, I learned never to do trade ins by mail again.

I don’t think it’s a thing. Letting lithium ion batteries die while in use isn’t recommended, technically.

I think the battery management systems do their own calibration.

But, Apple only recently implemented battery optimization a year or two ago—many people had previously said, “Well, if Apple’s default is to charge to 100% at all times, then it’s probably the right choice for the battery.” Against all reason and logic of how lithium ion batteries work (it’s not recommended nor healthy for a lithium ion battery to sit at 100% for hours on end).

But, it’s like eating junk food. Doing it some of time isn’t an issue. Doing it often is what causes the damage.

I'm curious if anyone in Florida got their phones yesterday? Called FedEx this morning who cited a delay in Memphis that prevented packages going out on time. Mine has been rescheduled for Monday now. So pissed.

So, I got my Graphite Pro Max yesterday. It finally said that my phone was out for delivery at 10:52am. I thought that was late! But...literally 8 minutes later a tiny orange car drove up to my house, a UPS guy got out and delivered my phone with no signature! Haha
Also, have noticed that 5G and LTE move back and forth while driving around my city. I have the 5G auto enabled too. 5G speeds here are not that great so far.

I noticed that as well with 5g but I am getting awful speeds. How do you enable that 5g setting

Got my phone yesterday and love it!! Gonna try and ride this one out for a few years. Also, I had to call AT&T to change my plan to take advantage of 5G and actually ended up saving some $$ by doing so.

Ordered a 12 pro max graphite in 512GB. Finally said screw it and placed the order about 11:30 pm ET two days after the pre-order began. Shipping time stated I’d get it around the 17th but lo and behold it arrived launch day at 1 pm-ish. I’m a bit surprised but not shocked. Happy nonetheless.

Does the upgrade/$700 promo still work if you purchase through Best Buy? It is also in stock near me and I'm wondering if I should just deny delivery from FedEx on Monday since they screwed up my delivery yesterday!

Yes. I’m in West Palm Beach and I had the same thing happen to me. I called FedEx and they claim it was bad weather in Memphis that caused the delayed. I checked the weather for Memphis yesterday. There was no weather event that would have caused a delay. So I called ATT and they contacted FedEx while I was on the phone. FedEx told ATT that it was a mechanical problem. According to FedEx my iPhone will be delivered on Monday 11/16/2020. I’m so ticked off right now. I ordered at 7:43a ET from ATT on preorder day. iPhone 12 Pro Max 128gb silver. I also ordered my husband’s 5 minutes later. He received his iPhone 12 Pro Max 12gb silver yesterday by UPS. Smh

I had to mail my phone in because the AT&T stores around acted dumb about the promo, and one told me that I had to cancel my order from Apple to qualify.

I had no problems mailing mines in. I went to the AT&T trade website, printed out a label, and returned the phone in the box my 12 Pro came in. I then went to UPS on the 5, AT&T got the phone on the 9th, and then I got an e-mail from AT&T on the 12th saying that they received my phone and processed it.

Still waiting for the trade in kit and the option to print the label isn’t there for me.
