How's your iOS 11 battery life?

  • Same as before, pretty good

  • Seems worse

  • Much worse

  • Better than before

I concur with what some others have said with regard to the weird, jumpy battery percentage behavior--often jumping 2-5% in mere seconds and hanging out on a particular percentage for an inordinate amount of time.

Right before battery shut off last night:

iPhone 7

Battery: 1%
Usage: 6hr39min
Standby: 14hr8min

My 6 plus still on 10.3.3 does this and always has so it's not new to ios11.

Haven't had that with at least the later version of iOS 10. So while something like that might exist in iOS 10 for some, seems like it might be there for more in iOS 11 so far.

What device?

With iOS 11.0.3 I've been getting better battery usage it seems. Yesterday I was at almost 7 hours of usage and 17 hours of standby when I was around 25%. Seems like it's quite a bit closer to what it was like in iOS 10 for me. Mostly the inconsistent percentage change/jumps is what mainly remains for me at this point.

So far, I got to 22 Hours of battery usage.
Woke up to about 50% and after coming home from work it was 40%
This is when idle. No YouTube no background sounds, nothing.

It only gets rough when watching YouTube. And listening to my background noises app.

I run my 6s for about 14 hours a day and at the end of the day have between 60-70% battery left. I'm on a good WiFi most of the day. I don't run known battery eaters like Facebook on my phone. I don't run background app refresh, etc.

How much usage time do you have after 14 hours of standby/total time?

Wow! Installing apps literally ate the battery. It dropped down from 45% to 15% and i needed to plug it to the charger. The phone was hot as hell too.

During the night the battery sinks from 100% to 40-60% or so..

After the latest full charge the stats from 100% to 15%:
- standby 31hours
- usage 4hours! Cant be correct, i rarely have used this in days... battery stats tells me that safari has used the battery 51% and been on screen 19mins.

iPhone SE.

Battery life was impacted severely with iOS 11.0, now with 11.0.3 or whatever the latest is...back to good batt life.

Last night I went to sleep with 13% and had over 30hrs of standby and 8.5 hrs usage. Still 13% too (on low power mode, easily another hour or two of usage)...

Auto low power when you activate do not disturb would be a fantastic idea. You don't need push or background app refresh while you sleep.

Wow i have never ever seen anything remotely close to 9 hours on my iPhone 7 Plus.

This is my iPhone 7 Plus on beta 3.

Push, Background Refresh, most location services disabled and none set to always

Something is critically wrong with the 7 Plus. I barely touch 7 hours somehow and the 8 Plus users are getting 13-15 hours

My ipad is now literally empty everytime i took it on my hands after the update, even when it has been only on the table for few days.

Followup ... Took my 7+ down to 5% then plugged it in - took all night to get back to 100. :(
Anyway; starting this morning:
Usage: 2:40
Standby: 3:54
Percentage 64%

Can't really rely on the "Last 24" as it includes more than my morning use
Predominate use this morning was Kindle, Safari (News), Google News, Messages, and Polymail Pro.

I have to agree with many posters here; there is something wonky in how iOS 11 is running on the 7/7+.

It's easily half that of iOS 10. I keep looking at the battery percentage all day. Once it goes below 50% it starts to drain 1% per minute. Web browsing on LTE especially even on good signal wrecks the battery.

Your morning use literally looks like 100% screen on time. Is that your normal pattern?

It doesn't matter whether that's normal or not. Apple said the 7 Plus should have the same battery life as 8 Plus and see what the iPhone 8 Plus users are getting. 6 hours of continuous use and still on 81%. Our 7 Plus runs out of battery in 7 hours. Absolutely atrocious optimisation for older devices.

Yes but you can’t expect a year long worn out battery to have the same life as a brand new one. Apple said expect the same battery life when compared like to like.

But its exactly half. My 7 Plus battery is at 0% in 7 hours. The 8 Plus is on 81%. According to Coconut Battery my battery health is 97%. That's not the issue at all.

If you dont have a solution why are you quoting me? Its been said millions of times that we dont own magical phones. It was running smoothly on IOS 10 without hitches. I used to get 12 hour battery life easily on iOS 10

How would I or any of us have solutions for something like this, at least beyond various suggestions to try this or that that have already been provided many times over in threads like this? I'm commenting on the generalized aspect of the assertions you are making.

All of my iOS 11 devices have crap battery life except my iPad Pro which I snatched from the jaws of death by not updating. Thats 5 iDevices total.

Which doesn't really change what I was commenting on.
