i've been using APP since they first came out. i mostly wear them for running. i use the default medium tips. i'm lucky in that i've never once had one fall out even with 2+ hour runs on pavement or trails. they will start to work their way out of my ear a little on long runs or rainy runs, but again never to the point of falling out and it's easy enough to just push them back in a little.

right now i'm not sure if i'm going to keep the BFP's. sounds is ok, honestly not sure i can tell much difference between them and the APP. fitment is where i'm having an issue. none of the tips give me the same secure fit feeling of the APP. also, i find the button to be super annoying as my natural move to push them into my ear has been clicking the button invoking actions i don't want. wish i could just disable the button or at least the short/single push function.

and yes the case feels super flimsy. not sure why they made it so janky feeling.

going to try a few more runs and then decide whether to keep them or not.

As far as accidently triggering the button, I had the same issues initially but found a way, that works a lot better for putting them in my ears.

The key is to grip a bud, with your forefinger in the loop or curve of the wing, and your thumb on the other side. Grip it this way, and place it into your ear. Then rotate them in. Remove both fingers, then gently push in with your forefinger at the point where the wing meets the bud, to get the seal. It sounds complicated but once you try it a few times, you get used it. By doing it this way, you avoid touching the lower part of the bud, where the button is...

I just got mine in today. What I'd say is that I don't think there's a coating on the bottom of the case that would do this, but the case DOES feel a bit flimsy to me.
I don’t know that I think the case feels flimsy, but I am concerned as to how long the hinge will keep its nice ‘snap’ open and closed. Wondering also whether I need to get AppleCare for these? I usually only purchase AppleCare for my phones or a computer.

I'd say my only complaint after decent use over 2 days is the case cover. It feels pretty flimsy compared to any previous Apple/Beats products. It has noticeable side-to-side wiggle and could probably use a bit more weight.
Yes, worried about the longevity of the case. Will AppleCare replace the case if it degrades (like the way it snaps closed vs no longer doing so)?

The powerbeats probably had an equally flimsy case but they were bigger so you didn’t really notice it and I would definitely recommend applecare for any apple product durable or not for those accidents that may happen

More fit testing! I'm finding that if I wear the headphones like this picture here (from the Verge's review):

DSCF6032_Edited.JPG

They basically feel invisible in my ears. IE rotate the wing so it sits in the "fold" of my ear, rather than push it into the fold of the ear behind it.

If I compress the wing so it fits into the recessed section of my ear (which is what you're "supposed" to do and feels fine on my left ear), that's when I get the uncomfortable pressure that causes fit fatigue on my right ear.

So, out of curiosity, how is everyone else wearing these?
I’ve been fitting them into the fold within the ear, and fortunately for me, they’re comfortable. It really doesn’t feel like I’m wearing anything! Also, it feels like when I work out and sweat, they will stay in place due to the light tension the wings keep with the inner fold. Id say wear them however is most comfortable for you—but it seems like you’re not benefiting from the wingtip design.

So here’s how I wear them:

They’re very comfortable for me. But…now I’m comparing the sound to my B&O e8’s (3rd Gen), and the Bang & Olufsen sound much better. Only they don’t have ANC—but I use Comply/Memory-foam tips, so they block out around 20 decibels of ambient sound. And the memory foam tips + the light weight and overall design keeps them in my ears even duro sweaty cardio workouts! Though I still need to wear my new BFP to the gym. Meant to go yesterday…but had my COVID booster and it knocked me out for a day! Still worth it.
Now not sure whether I want to keep the BFPs. B&O just released an e8 with ANC. So I could have the sound AND the ANC. Juse for twice the price! ?

I prefer earwings over the OTE approach as I wear glasses. What's really annoying is when I'm wearing glasses, a mask and an OTE headset. That's when the ear is overloaded.
Also wear glasses some of the time, and I hate things that go over my ears. Add to that masks, hats (winter), and any kind of pullover/sweater, and any kind of over-ear portable is maddening for me.

Lol, well, I really dislike the design of the Powerbeats, so I would never wear them. Anything going over my ears drives me mad in a bad way! So I have no experience with that case.

Yeah, yours fit a lot more naturally than mine, they get squished a bit and thus put pressure on the bottom of my ear.

The good news is I have until the end of January to return them if I decide to do that. I may keep an eye out for Airpods Pro to hit a black friday sale, the street price is already less than 200. I really don't like the physical design but they may still end up being my best option for now, particularly because the Sony are not something I'm willing to try.

Anyone else hear a very faint static when these are in and nothings playing? I turned off ANC and transparency entirely and I hear this. It’s incredibly annoying and I know that people have had this in their AirPods Gen3, also.

Not on mine -- but I also heard nothing on the AP3's I briefly had either

Not present in my AirPods Gen 3 or Beats Fit Pro.

So far I love these. My only “issue”. Got them on Friday and set them up. Everything was fine. Saturday when I got to the gym and put them on I had to pair them to my phone again.

I had the same thing happen today.

After road sprints and HIIT today, have to say I seriously doubt APP would’ve stayed in. I can’t say for sure because I’ve never owned APP. Impressed with how these anchored in my ears despite aggressive movements of all kinds.

I was on the fence about possibly giving APP a side-by-side audition, but I think my workout today settled it.

The wind was a non-factor sonically, as if there was no wind. Beats/Apple cracked the code on managing wind noise with transparency mode engaged. The mics were not piping in their interpretation of wind. Pretty nice.

These kinds of reviews were hard to find this past weekend. A lot of them are showing up now though. I just went ahead and bought them and also am happy that they stay in while running. I don't really do HIIT with a headset on - I will do them in my basement with the speakers on. I do really think that these are geared to people that workout or that have oddly shaped ears that don't like their headsets falling out.

Not hearing any static on these. Very nice sound.

So I wore these for about seven straight hours tonight, minus a quick 10 minute break about 5 hours in. Listened to a podcast and watched two movies on my laptop. Some notes:

1. Ear pain is still a thing for me. It's been about an hour and a half since the second movie ended and my ears still hurt. My pain did not appreciably increase between hour 2 and hour 7, but the residual soreness is lasting longer after my extended session.
2. Battery life with ANC on was about 7 hours.
3. Spacial Audio is very neat. It legitimately fooled me into thinking the laptop speakers were still on. I still wouldn't use it for music for movies on the Apple TV app I thought it was pretty fun. While I'm fairly unlikely to keep these due to my fit issue it is making me think a bit harder about getting airpods max for flights.
4. Midrange response is notably thin. You hear it on podcasts and in some vocals in movies.
5. During my 10-15 minute break the headphones charged from 15% to 40% which I found pretty impressive.

If I had pain from a device, I'd stop using it and return it.

It sounds like it just doesn't fit - and that happens with these devices.

Yeah, I really wanted to make this work, but as of now it doesn't look like they will. I bought some airpods pro this morning so hopefully those fit better.

If you're looking for fit, there are other brands as well like JBL, Jabra, Jaybird, etc. Shopping for these things is a headache because it all does come down to fit.

Yeah, I'm trying to defer to stuff with both an H1 chip for easy switching between my mac and phone (and eventually ipad), though at the end of the day H1 is not a hard requirement so I'll go with something else if I have to. I would guess the Sony is next on the list if the airpods pro don't work out, even though I got burned pretty badly on the XM3 over-ears.

Additional observations:

  • Toggling on "spatialize stereo" for non-Dolby Atmos tracks adds a new, airy dimension to music that's enjoyable. May even prefer it to regular stereo. Need more listening time for that. I haven't played with the Apple Music EQ settings as I have historically preferred those to be off.

  • Headphone accommodations in Settings/Accessibility/Audio+Visual and fiddling with those settings can subtly tailor the sound signature even further. (see attached screenshot)

Question for APP owners: Is it easy to knock out your AirPods taking a mask on/off by accidentally hitting the stems? So far, this appears to be a non-issue for the stemless BFP.

what color is better in person? white or black?

I feel like the white would be easier to find in a bag, but black is beats classic. what do you guys think
