Question: Are the Beats Fit Pro supposed to be the replacement for the Powerbeats Pro? I have both the Apple Airpods Pro and the Powerbeats Pro. I use the Powerbeats pro for working out only, I personally love the hook around the ears.
They technically aren’t because they are sold side by side but I used powerbeats pro before beats fit pro and beats fit pro are a worthy replacemen/upgrade because the smaller case and ANC and all the exclusive features

Have you used them for working out? I run and do strength training almost every day. I love the Powerbeats Pro because I have never had an issue losing them in a run, unlike the Airpods Pro.

I work in acoustics and I've been listening to these for most of the afternoon. My thoughts on sound quality:

These are a bit more full-sounding than I was expecting. The notch in the mids is there, you can definitely hear it, but it's not really bothersome on most content. There's a little less boost in the sub-bass than I was expecting, I feel the boost more in the mid-bass than down at the very bottom. As for the notchy sound, the treble has never been overly-harsh. Overall I'd classify the sound as "warm" and for some content the slightly low mids might not be for everyone, but I'm generally a mids-forward person and I have been enjoying these.

I have not listened to airpods pro or the sony so I can't really comment on the comparison there.

ANC is great. Not quite as good as my Bose 700s but excellent. I went for a walk with these in transparency mode. Wind noise seemed pretty well-controlled, which was nice. This also doesn't give me the same "brain suck" feeling as my Boses do, so that's a nice bonus.

I'm still struggling a bit with the fit, after about an hour I start noticing pressure points at the bottom of my ear. The wings don't really bother me though.
I was pleasantly surprised by how these performed walking down the street with lots of wind in both ANC/transparency modes. Any other cans I’ve owned have struggled with this, except APP because I’ve never owned them and can’t comment.

Had them since Friday and only today have I kinda stopped overthinking seating them and maybe just maybe nailed seating them for best sound and comfort. I let go and used the force.

I wish Apple would disclose more about their DAC and amp technology. Would be interesting to know how they arrive at their sound. For the meh AAC codec, they get a lot of mileage out of it.

Bought these this afternoon and they are charging while I'm waiting for iOS 15.1 to install as you need 15.1 to use all of the features.

My background is that I've used Jaybirds bluetooth wired headsets for about a decade having tried various brands, including Motorola. These things failed after a short period of time until Jaybirds started using Liquipel coatings. Even with the coatings, though, they typically lasted around 2-3 years as the battery would die or some electronics would fry. I'm pretty rough as far as sweating over headsets go and you have some amount of tugging on the wires over the long haul. So I'm used to replacing these every couple of years. I would have bought another Jaybird but they don't make the wired headsets anymore. I was going to get the Jaybird Vista 2 but I noticed that Apple just started shipping these.

So I watched a ton of reviews on it and a few comparing it to the other popular brands like JBL and they all seem to have advantages and disadvantages. I also looked for reviews by runners as this is what I will mostly be doing with these. My last pair of Jaybirds are showing problems like the charging LED not working and it sometimes cutting off the music or podcast. I also have the Beats Flex which is a strange product but it's not really suitable for running because of the long cord length and I find the controls confusing. But they're fine for walking and in the weight room.

I expect these to work well but I also expect to replace them in two to three years. I think that they will fix some small issues:

- Wireless charging
- Better IP rating on both the case and the earbuds
- Adjustable earwings

Sound isn't my top priority as I'm running and you get noise from running and you want to hear some external noise. My first priority is fit (that it stays in), and second is comfort. I think that the very light weight will help with comfort.

I prefer earwings over the OTE approach as I wear glasses. What's really annoying is when I'm wearing glasses, a mask and an OTE headset. That's when the ear is overloaded.

Up and running and they work, and they sound great (better than my Jaybirds and Beats Flex). I'm not sure what the fit should be like as I didn't experiment with the eartips but will get around to that. I did a minute of jumping jacks and they didn't move at all and sounded fine while I was doing them. I'll run with them tomorrow. The case is hooked up to my MacBook Pro and charging. The case was at 92% and the headset at 99% when I paired.

You can do the “fit test” to check the for the right fit on each bud. I found out I had to adjust one earbud more than the other in order to get a good seal.

Ordered from Amazon yesterday and picked up from an Amazon locker earlier today. Return eligible until January 31, 2022. Been using them with Pandora and Sirius XM music with ANC activated. The fit is superb. Very comfortable with extended wear. Sound is first class. Clear treble with just right amount of bass. I'm sold. Definitely will not be returning them. Bought in Sage Gray color. I wish they could replace my Bose A20's (they are that good) but that's not possible.

I think I figured out my fit issue. My right ear is a bit shorter than my left, so the wing provides more reaction force and presses the whole bud downwards more than it does on the left, which has been perfectly comfortable the whole time.

I went down one tip size and it helped, but I think I got a position where it's a lot less bothersome. I really have to make an effort to fish the wing up into the right place, but once I did that comfort on the right improved considerably. Still not good as the left but it may up the "stamina" I have from one hour to three hours or something.

There are plenty of people with ears that are not symmetrical and that's where the "fit" can become a little more difficult. When I bought the AirPod Pros I could only get one side to fit correctly. The other side would fall out no matter which one of the tips I tried. Kept pushing it back in. That in itself became annoying, in addition to realizing that having items pushed into my ear canals was not for me. It's that sensation of walking around with your fingers stuck in your ears. Had to return them.

The new Beats Fit Pros look nice and I definitely would like the tap button control. The wings likely help the fit stability for a lot of people. I was tempted to try them but after my experience with the APPros I don't think any with the silicone tips design will be for me. But I'm still kind of curious to at least try them. I probably will the next time I visit the local Apple store.

The 3rd generation Air Pods almost seem like they were designed for me. No tips shoved into the ear canals, but a good secure fit with great sound. One side does actually fit a little better than the other because my ears are not the same either, but both are secure and comfortable.

I have this issue and am not able to wear the Apple *pods. What I found is that the right side always fell out.

I played with the tips this morning and what I found is that the smaller tip fits in the right ear and the medium fits in the left ear. This is odd because my experience with other products is that I use the medium tip in the right and the large tip in the left. So it appears that the tips that Apple provide with the Beat Fit Pro are larger than others. With the Beats Flex, I use the medium in the right and the large in the left.

One small advantage of different-sized ears is that you have an extra set of eartips. I do not know if Apple sells spares for tips but this can be an issue down the road. If Apple doesn't sell them, then I'd expect third parties to.

I have the same issue on other earbuds and had to use different size tips on each side with the Beats X and Powerbeats Pro.
On the Fit Pros, I’m using the same size but one side needs more adjusting when inserting it to get it just right. But once in, all seems fine.

More fit testing! I'm finding that if I wear the headphones like this picture here (from the Verge's review):

DSCF6032_Edited.JPG

They basically feel invisible in my ears. IE rotate the wing so it sits in the "fold" of my ear, rather than push it into the fold of the ear behind it.

If I compress the wing so it fits into the recessed section of my ear (which is what you're "supposed" to do and feels fine on my left ear), that's when I get the uncomfortable pressure that causes fit fatigue on my right ear.

So, out of curiosity, how is everyone else wearing these?

My left side feels fine. I don't even know how it is in but I put it in and it feels secure and sounds great. I've tried all three tips on the right side and the ear-tip does not make a secure fit but the largest tip blocks out wind noise when I am running. The smallest tip feels like it's going to fall out but it doesn't. Maybe I'll just get used to the feeling. It's likely much more an issue with my right ear than the headset.

Using the small and medium resulted in more wind noise. I may also try the ear-tips from the Beats Flex as I think that they will fit the Fit Pro.

I'd say my only complaint after decent use over 2 days is the case cover. It feels pretty flimsy compared to any previous Apple/Beats products. It has noticeable side-to-side wiggle and could probably use a bit more weight.
Going to jump in here on that note. I really wanted to love these after hearing about the improved bass response and sound quality compared to AirPods Pro, plus the secure fit of the wingtips combined with that gorgeous Sage Grey color.

I opened them up and was immediately put off by the feel of the plastic case. I mean it feels CHEAP. A lot of wiggle and play in the hinge, and the way it springs up and closes is mildly satisfying but doesn't feel nearly as premium as the snap of the AirPods Pro. The case feels light and hollow and just plainly like cheap plastic.

I took them out and paired them - the fit was absolutely phenomenal, the bass was nice but only ever-so-slightly improved over the APP while the mids and highs actually didn't sound as good to me. Granted this was right out of the box, but I never gave them a chance to break in. I couldn't get over the feel of the case and took them back to Best Buy.

I'm really happy for those who have found value in them, and in a vacuum they're very nice, but I didn't find enough value proposition in keeping them for $200 in addition to my AirPods Pros.

I tried the Beats Flex ear-tips and they are too deep.

One other thing that I tried is rotating the earwing into the back of the ear instead of going forward and this seems to hold it in better than trying to rotate it into the apex of the somewhat rounded triangle in the front of the ear. I did this on both sides and it feels a lot more secure now. Maybe this is what you're supposed to do - I don't bother with directions. With the Jaybirds, they gave you different-sized earwings so that you could hook it into the front small part of the ear.

I suspect that they will fix these kinds of complaints in the next generation.

As a runner, I can overlook the case as these allow me to run without worrying about them falling out.

I'm not really viewing these from a fitness standpoint. I just prefer the design to airpods pro. Plus better battery life, no touch controls, and the fact that there's not a stem interacting with a mask when I'm wearing one.

However, if I can't get the fit of these dialed in they're probably going back. I really want to like them but if I can't wear them for an hour without my ears hurting they're not going to work.

I know. And it's not just fitness but it's running.

If you're doing weights, walking, using the elliptical or spinning, the earwings aren't necessary. It's running that's the issue and why I got these. I can use the Beats Flex for those other exercises and they are fine - just not for running.

Apple came out with both of these last week and I assume that they cater to different markets. I am very happy that Apple is providing choice as I've used Jaybirds for almost a decade because Apple didn't have an offering that worked for me.
