So....all these people are apple haters too right? It's a big conspiracy against your amazing apple right? yeah...exactly.
Missing a few text notifications………and what you wrote is two totally different thing! Connectivity issues!Apple’s iPhone has an aggravating text notifications bug
If you’re not seeing notifications when new messages come in, you’re not alone.www.theverge.com
EGGGADDS...something wrong with an apple phone....say it ain't so Tim....
I do have connection issues AS WELL. In places my andriod device has full service, my iPhone has NADA. And, NO. It's not missing "a few texts" as you fanboys like to state, it's missing ALL texts and phone calls unless I have the screen unlocked. Those texts and calls are MONEY to me since I use my phone for business.Missing a few text notifications………and what you wrote is two totally different thing! Connectivity issues!
If you feel so strongly about it…missing a few text notifications…then why not jump to Android? I hear that their text messaging platform is da bomb! Heck, Google itself has at least FIVE text messaging options…and Google itself has killed at least 3-5 of them over the past year! And then add in 3rd party…and it’s a party of messaging apps!! Oh wait, all of them suck donkey balls!
The regular text messaging built into android works just fine. Never miss one on that. I don't use other crap. just like I don't use anything other than the backed in text messaging in iPhone. but that fails regularly. Here is a good post by an Android user regarding messaging on Android:
“Just to add, there's tons of chefs in the Android kitchen. All trying to come up with their own versions of the same dish.
I hate it. I wish something can be done to unify more devices and versions of Android across the market so more folks are on the same page when it comes to a messaging service. There's just so much patchwork across Android. It's tiring.
Software support. Software support. Software support.”
Yet you don’t tell me what android device you have and must be so proud of. LolThe regular text messaging built into android works just fine. Never miss one on that. I don't use other crap. just like I don't use anything other than the backed in text messaging in iPhone. but that fails regularly.
You should get Galaxy S21U. What is keeping you? Common sense?galaxy tab A 8 LTE. I have nothing to hide.
and no, I am waiting for the new fold to come out. something apple will copy in a couple of years and claim they invented it.You should get Galaxy S21U. What is keeping you? Common sense?
You can’t get much newer than S21U which just came out 3 months ago.and no, I am waiting for the new to come out. something apple will copy in a couple of years and claim they invented it.
Good post. Very true that Apple does restrict you to some degree while in their ecosystem. But i am not sure if my iPhone belongs to Apple...like you wrote.
But to your point…you do realize that starting with Android 10…got bad with Android 11…and upcoming Android 12 is worst…that Android is becoming more and more lockdown every year…following in the footsteps of iOS. In fact, as iOS becomes less restrictive, Android has gone the opposite route. I am sure that both OS will eventually meet in the middle.
For example, Android 11 forces apps that want to take photos or video to use the phone’s built-in camera app — even if you’ve made a different camera app, like OpenCamera, your default choice for photos.
As for your vinyl collection, i agree with what you wrote. When i was on Android recently, that is part of the draw. But if that was your main benefit, then you know that Android have other gaping issues that you have to deal with. In the end, you chose what is best for you. I think that is great.
Agreed. I am done with the walled garden of apple. I cancelled all my apple services a couple of months ago and moved to other streams. It's much better too. I am using readly instead of News+, I pay the same amount and get 10 times the publications. I use spotify and amazon music, Prime video and microsoft 365 family plan. A much better value than apples family icloud service. The only thing left now is to sell my iphone and ipad and be gone. Thank god.iPhone "belongs to Apple" is simply my perception and highlights the reason for my decision to change. I don't expect everyone/anyone else to agree with my perception.
I'm not so sure these OS will "meet in the middle" as right now there is a grand canyon between them as far as freedom. I would hope if that happens it would be because Apple made significant leaps forward rather than Android making significant leaps backward. But I don't think either will happen, frankly.
But it happened on your iPhone 8, right? So, you JUST got the iPhone 11 then. And if it happened on your 8 and then your 11 have it too…you wrote it, not me. YET, you still have the 11 or so claimed. Bad enough mind you that you bought a Samsung device and canceled all your Apple services (and even got on 3rd party stuff). Heck you even bought an Apple Watch To boot!
iPhone 12 / S21+. Happy now? Oh, and I also have a 2020 iPad Pro. But I don't need to blindly follow people around and ask them if they have seen the light and switched to our lord and savior apple yet, or come into the android forum and talk **** to everyone in here. AND, I also don't feel the need to put all of my apple gear in my signature to try and pull some sort of clout with the rest of the fold. What phone you have now bro?
Bro, i am listing that because this is (shocking news!) Apple forum…just to show what i have at home that is Apple related. I could put in there my Ferrari and Porsches but then that would be lying. . IF you feel that my signature gives me some clout OR that is how you view it, then so be it…hate to be you.iPhone 12 / S21+. Happy now? Oh, and I also have a 2020 iPad Pro. I honestly don't care if the mods want to edit my posts to protect your "feelings" or ban me for calling you out. Every single thread in here gets lambasted by fanboys trying to "prove" that they are right. I use "prove" loosely because as soon as someone points out the flaw in their logic they switch to a different topic. Typical apple loving behavior. "Apple right Android wrong".Bro, i am listing that because this is (shocking news!) Apple forum…just to show what i have at home that is Apple related. Again, feel free to disprove anything that i have typed. No need to complain about factual things.
Well hard to compare value, but for my $02.Agreed. I am done with the walled garden of apple. I cancelled all my apple services a couple of months ago and moved to other streams. So been on Samsung Note 10+ for a couple of months now after switching from iPhone 11 Pro Max.
My thoughts below. Sorry....they are a bit all over the place.
Overall I've been happy with my Note 10+. I switched for specific reasons that I felt Apple didn't give me as a non-Mac user such as Windows integration, but I have no negative thoughts of Apple or iPhone. Having said that, I've making the most out of the Samsung ecosystem. I have the Active Watch 2 which isn't as good as Apple Watch at all, but it is still a good watch for tracking fitness routines. Definitely looking forward to seeing future updates in that space.
- iPhone is definitely a more premium feeling phone, but it is also heavier. I'm actually preferring the lighter Note's aluminum build over steel which I thought would be an issue.
- Opening the phone is more difficult on Note. FaceID works great on iPhone and less cumbersome than fingerprint.
- I don't miss iMessage as much as I thought I would. SMS/MMS are fine.
- I do miss AirDrop. I tried ShareIT but sick of the ads. Looking for something better to move files between my Note and my wife's iPhone
- Camera is great. Takes excellent pictures.
- Love the stylus if nothing more than for using it as a remote control for the camera. Haven't gotten into the habit of using it for anything else yet.
- Integration with Windows is very good. One of the main reasons I switched.
- Dex is pretty cool. Only used it a little but kind of awesome that I have access to a desktop computer in my phone.
- Wish there was "favorites" in contacts. I liked that on iPhone.
- Battery life is really good. Not quite as good as iPhone 11 Pro Max, but not far off.
- Was able to try out game streaming services on my Note such as Project xCloud, Geforce Now, and Stadia. They work fairly well, but still a ways off for replacing local gaming, if ever. No idea why streaming services are so limited on iPhone.
OnePlus no longer has clean Android. It’s got its own crap Chinese OS on it. OnePlus also is an extremely shady company that I personally would not trust. If I were to leave iPhone I would choose OnePlus or Pixel. Stock Android is the best.
Depends where you are trading in your phone. Samsung often give good prices for their phones on trade in. Right now in the U.K. they are offering £200 for any phone even if it’s broken. Obviously more recent working phones will get you more.Again, samsung heavily subsidizes their phones with discounts. Apple doesn't. When the Note 10+ came out you could pick one up from samsung directly for less than 500 just by trading in a Note 9 / S9+.
You are basing your thoughts off of buying directly from the Carrier or Apple (neither of which provide any kind of discount to the buyer). If I spent (and I did at the time) 1100.00 for a Pro Max, then 50% of that is ~550. If I spent (and again, I did) 450 on a Note 10+, and T-Mobile wants to give me $295 then I'm getting ~60% of my initial purchase price.
I think I would go with a Pixel model too. LG and HTC are dead, Sony may as well be dead, and so it's down to sketchy China-based companies I would never trust or Samsung who is famous for bloatware. One of the PIxel phones seems like the last good option imo.If I were to leave iPhone I would choose OnePlus or Pixel. Stock Android is the best.
