Nothing on the market today will give you 150W and Mojave support. Only thing that works around 150W with decent performance is an AMD RX 580 sold by Dell that have only a 6-Pin PCIe connector.

is this one ok:

Radeon Sapphire RX 580 Grafikkarte - 8 GB GDDR5 - 256 Bit - 1366 MHz ?

All 1366MHz RX580 can easily draw more than 150W under stress. In fact, at stock setting. If running something like Furmark, those RX580 will draw 225W straight away, but auto down clock to around 1260MHz to stay inside the power envelope.

If want to keep its power draw within 150W, we have to mod the card’s ROM manually. For most usage, 1243MHz @0.95V should able to stay within 150W. But this setting will still draw ~180W in Furmark. To further make sure it’s power draw won’t go over 150W, we need to limit the card’s TDP to 150W and PowerPlay 0%. Then let the card to manage the clock speed under this kind of extreme stress.

The OEM RX580 is the one that closest to 150W natively, but AFAIK, can still draw more than 150W in Furmark. Even worst, because lack of 8pin, it may draw more than 75W from the slot.

I have my MSI Armor RX 580 8gb powered through the EVGa PowerLink.

===============================
My RX 580 power setup

2 X mini 6 pin to 8 pin to the PowerLink INPUT .

+

2 X SATA to single 6 pin to the right side of the extra 8 pin socket on the PowerLink INPUT.

(a & b PowerLINK OUTPUT to a single 8 pin to 8 pin to the RX 580.

+

Power from the PCIe slot.

===============================

I use X-Plane 11 at highest settings a lot so this total available wattage from the PCIe slot + the 2 Mini 6pins + the 2 SATA to single6 pin ( around 330w ) around balanced by the PowerLink ) is probably 'overkill' but definitely should be more than adequate for my X-Plane 11 scenarios.

=======================================================

Why did AMD turn the RX 580's power sockets upside down ? I have to use the PowerLink as a bridge.
I have it mounted on my cMP's front INPUT fan ( PCIe area ).

I highly recommend the EVGa PowerLink to all 4,1 ~ 5,1 cMP owners. Cheap.

The consensus is that all except XFX as they sometimes stray from the AMD reference design but having said that . . . their latest RX 580 is a dual BIOS model and so has the much desired 'dual bios' switch which means .. . ( probably won't happen ) that if some genius discovers how to EFI flash an dual bios ) RX 580 then one can safely flash said EFI rom to position 2 on the dual bios switch and if there is a failure . .shut down . . flip the switch to position 1 and you're back in business and then it will be possible to re-flash the original 'SAVED' rom back to the card.

so the reply to my question is simple that All can do the same job , except XFX ?
I haven't read all the thread , i want a simple and specific as possible answer and i am not asking for flashed options at the moment ...
thanks

Yes, all RX580 cards are fine except XFX. Correct.
The Sapphire RX 580 Pulse 8GB is the card recommended by Apple.

What's wrong? All PULSE RX580 8GB now shipped with dual BIOS, that's a good thing.

I bought my RX580 in the early days, only single BIOS available. I am so hope that my PULSE RX580 has dual BIOS. It will be so much easier (and safer) for my to study and test the VBIOS.

If you have another PC with igpu, you can still rescue it if you brick it.

ha???

You don't need any hack. The card is fully compatible with Mac Pro. The 2nd ROM is just a bonus.

I have few other graphic cards, and have a Hacktintosh that can run multiple GPU.

However, it is not necessary can boot the card again if I damage the VROM. If the card can't boot, then using another GPU to provide display won't help. May require hardware flashing to fix it.

Just plug and play. No other steps require.

Of course, I assume you connect the power cable and monitor cable correctly. Also, running a OS that support RX580

No need to touch the ROM switch, game mode or compute mode doesn't really matter.

10.13.6 is fine. Anyway High Sierra is an OS, not firmware.

Only you know how long your computer usually takes from power on to show the login screen. SSD or HDD can make a huge difference.
[automerge]1571256749[/automerge]
yes off course
in fact for a while i saw login screen asking to change login password ...

If the screen was there, then disappear, check the monitor setting / cable.
