This popped up on my Facebook feed and immediately piqued my interest. The back is real carbon fiber, but the case itself seems to have a profile similar to Caudabe Sheath. My issue with the Sheath was that it has no raised lip in the front - if you drop the phone and it falls on the front, bye bye screen.

Looks identical to:

Spigen.com just announced the new case for the iphone X. Can't wait to get my hands on one.

https://www.spigen.com/collections/iphone-x/products/iphone-x-case-classic-one

Won't be available to order till 6/14/18.

Looks really cool but I'm way more fond of the C1 based on G3

You can get both at a discount price if you back them in Indiegogo
https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/classic-c1-iphone-x-case-inspired-by-imac-g3-design#/

I just got the two-case perk :D can't wait !

Not astheticly pleasing nor decently functional when walking with the X in front pocket. Not ideal as I use various equipment in a public gym (membership).

Slightly better suggesion, yet unfortunately like Eeyseeyou's suggestion above, it means I'll still need to go around the gym to affix mounts before I can actually attach my phone.

Right now for seated/standing (dumbbell, hammer, barbell - supinated/pronated - curls) I can just set my phone against the dumbbells by the mirror and use either camera and run recording vai Apple Watch.

What I'm looking for is a case that by itself can
mount to a metal frame of gym equipment (Smith / squat rack, leg exention, lat pulldown etc) and then I can begin recording myself while I'm doing a set.

This is VERY helpful for holding myself accountable, seeing proper form to execute the right function I'm after. Sure I can have a gym buddy but mine have different work hours and sleep hours each day than I do. Furthermore, getting a random gym rat - you never know if A) they'll pay attention to spotting you when you need it most, B) they know HOW to spot properly (if you have to ask or even think how difficult this can be; you haven't worked out long enough or really pushed yourself hard enough), and C) I'm particular about others' hygene near me (I don't want to smell balls while I'm bench pressing or armpits when I'm squatting).

Looks like I'll be hunting for a micro-suction case or find a way to turn an existing case UAG into one.

There’s a joby mobile gorilla magnetic mount that can pretty much attach your phone to anything but again it’s another attchember uoud have to carry around. I really don’t see where a “sticky” case would work in the majority of your use cases considering the lack of 90 degree angles you’d have to mount your phone to.

I was actually considering getting the joby magnetic mobile mount myself for the exact reason you’d be using it for.

Looks very good! Does anyone have experience with their cases?

I just contacted them about the drop protection of this case. They don’t state any numbers about that on their website, and I only buy cases with 2 meters of drop protection or more.

As much as I like this case, the lack of front protection is a dealbreaker. It's exactly why I didn't end up sticking with the Caudabe Sheath. I think I'm finally convinced that the perfect case doesn't exist, as every case I've tried thus far has had some type of a drawback.

I didn’t notice there was no lip. That’s a deal breaker for me too... I settled with the SolidSuit, and I think it’s the closest I will get to finding my perfect case.

90 degree angles from the ground? There is plenty:
Glass mirrors,
Squat rack / smith machine,
Many leg extension and hamstring curls,
Remember neighboring machines help with focused angles too.

Just got a reply from them. The drop protection is 1.5 meter, which isn’t bad. Would love to see a review from someone here who has one!

You’re looking for a case with some type of tech to stick to metal and glass without an additional attachment?

This sort of sounds like what you’re looking for:
https://www.amazon.com/Gravity-CloudValley-Magical-Whiteboards-Surfaces/dp/B0756F1W57
[doublepost=1526432382][/doublepost]
Or maybe get a kickstand phone case

Gravity Cloud or whatever it’s called is the one inspired online last night - thanks.

Kickstand wouldn’t help much for certain exercises I’d like to categorize myself doing as there wouldn’t be support nearby - squats, box Squats etc.

At my old gym late nights hardly anyone there so it was easy to use a makeshift setup. The gym I’m at now is a little too much like GoodLife and people are freaked out with camera use although it’s more prevalent at such gyms.

One example where a phone on a wall or mirror would help is cables glued or bench press.

Gross. Nothing I hate more on a case than the Apple logo cutout. Good for nothing other than to attract dust and grime.

Funny, how people have different tastes in cases...haha. I started with the Caudabe Sheath, and then tried a lot of other cases...Kept coming back to the Sheath for one reason, and my personal deal-breakers on iPhone X cases...the raised lip! I rock a full edge to edge screen protector so a case not having a lip, isn't a bad thing for me...And here is the most important reason I don't like the lip...I always catch my thumb or finger on the damn lips of cases, when swiping up on the iPhone X! Drives me nuts...

The perfect case would have a raised lip, except for a small area at the bottom, to allow swiping up and stuff...

So like the Apple cases with the exposed bottoms? I also kept going back to the Caudabe Sheath.

I tried out the Solidsuit and the Pitaka. The Pitaka is barely a case and more like a shell for looks, so that was returned. The Solidsuit was a complete let down. It's not very nice to hold, slippery like a bar of soap, the carbon fiber sticker looks and feel cheap, as does the plain version with no sticker(yes i tried both). The rubber coating on the seam on the inside started to wear away, just like the recent Amazon review said. Basically i find the Solidsuit to be a PC bumper enclosed in proprietary rubber /TPU case. It's super tight because of the PC bumper. I'm sure it can take a beating...and with the slippery sides, probably needs to be able to, so those were returned too. I didn't bother trying the Mous, it looks very clumsy and thick, as reported.

So for the hell of it, I picked up the Evutec Karbon Aer at Target to check out. I had one for my iPhone 7 Plus and it was nice, used it as a travel case for Europe last summer, but I also kept going back to the Sheath for the 7 Plus because the Aer just felt much thicker compared to Sheath. With the X, the Sheath and Karbon Aer versions are the about the same size with the Aer being 1mm thicker width and length wise. They are the same height wise, so basically the phone is the same thinness with either case on. My goal was to stick with one case and I thought it was the Sheath(preordered it before the X was released) since it was the one I kept going back to for the 7Plus, but I'm sticking to the Aer now. The Aer is almost like a hybrid of the Pitaka(same Aramid material) and Sheath, although it is missing the awesome grippy texture of the Sheath's sides.

I hope the coating on my SolidSuit doesn’t wear away... I am a bit worried now!

If you take the phone off a lot, it will start to peel. The seam that runs right under the lip inside is a weak point, as the case i returned had three areas where it started shearing. I then noticed the latest review on Amazon had the same issue, but that one looks really bad compared to what I had.

If only the Sheath was available with a slightly higher lip, it would be my ideal case. I really like its fit and finish - I actually decided to keep it, instead of returning it to Caudabe, in the event that I want to give it another shot in the future. However, I am paranoid about the complete lack of screen protection. I do, however, have AppleCare+, so maybe I should just bite the bullet?

Yeah, as I mentioned earlier, I don't like the lip, because of swiping and getting caught on the lip. Like you, I have Applecare as well, and currently just rock the Caudabe Sheath, with an edge to edge screen protector...
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077M3V6LC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

One case you might want to check out, that is similar to the Caudable Sheath but does have a higher lip, is this:
https://www.amazon.com/Silk-iPhone-...8&qid=1526566663&sr=1-1&keywords=kung+fu+grip

A friend of mine is using that one and I tried it...Higher lip than the Sheath but it has a very similar texture on the sides...the back is smoother.

I actually bought those screen protectors a couple of months ago, with the intention of replacing my current one, but never got around to it. I think I'll do that tonight and use the opportunity to give the Sheath another try.

How are the buttons and thickness of the Sheath compared to your SolidSuit?
