I'm looking for something in between a paper thin fashion case and an extreme brick-ish ruggedized Amazon Adventures case. My primary needs are 1) good depth pocket for rear camera and 2) firm lip on the front.

So far I have tested and rejected:

OtterBox Commuter: part of the front lip is pliable TPU. Something like the Commuter but all hard would be perfect.
UnderArmour Stash: lip too short
Speck Presidio Sport: side button covers too firm
Body Guardz Trainr: lip too short, front and sides felt a bit flimsy.

Anyone tried (Amazon link embedded):

1: Spigen Slim Armour CS

2: Luvvit Ultra Armour
[doublepost=1509804958][/doublepost]

Any comments on theses as far as level of protection, esp. screen and rear camera? Fit and feel?

Get the Monoprice PC+TPU case. Sounds like it fits your needs perfectly.

I have the black leather folio case. It fits well, but front cover doesn't always stay closed.

I don't think it offers much fall protection but it is a quality product.

Clear Tozo case with the silver rim looks awesome on the silver X but the sides of mine are loose. Contacted the seller on amazon and they’ll be sending me another one in a couple days, will update if that one fits better. Probably my favorite clear case I’ve ever used since it avoids that bulky halo effect around the bezels so I’m really hoping the fit on the next one is better. It works with 3D glass screen protectors, I just messed up the install on mine so I replaced it with a 2.5 one until I can get some more of the 3Ds.

Appreciate that. Such a shame about the lint. Why did they have to use a similar material as the Apple case...

Trying to work out how the camera cutout's off. Do you have any other photos that show it, & maybe the other cutouts around the phone too? Thanks.

The other cutouts are fine, but there’s about 1mm gap round one side of the camera cutout. Not major, but enough to annoy me, and potentially let dust underneath.

So Cal
Anyone got or seen the Apple leather folio case yet? Any good?
I love mine. I have the black one. The photos on the Apple Store seem to show it as all black, but the actual case is charcoal gray and the cover is black. I am a fan of folios and have purchased one for my iPhones and devices for a long long time. I remember buying one for a Sony PDA when my daughter was born and she's now 14. So take that into consideration. Ive seen people say that it doesn't provide much protection, but it provides as much as the regular Apple leather cases. The cover is nice in that it gives me a handle to grab my X with my left hand and tilt it up for FaceID when its on my desk. I watched a movie last night and folded the cover back and it was real comfortable to have the X in my lap. I had my thumbs resting against the cover to keep the phone angled. I also like that closing the cover, sleeps the iPhone. I don't remember being so satisfied with a case for a long time.

Too expensive and prone to damage not to protect them!
Up to Friday I was determined to keep the phone naked. Especially with the silver back. Got the phone and then chickened out and put the case and Orzly screen protector on.

As I’m on the IUP I’m Now seriously considering going back to naked. The phone somehow feels less special when it’s hidden under a case. The screen protector also seems to add a weird 3D depth feeling up at the notch. The screen looks a bit sunken up there and it’s as if the image is no longer right under the glass. probably as a result of the Orzly covering the sensor housing as well.

Wow. I really like this case. I ordered a cheap clear case off Amazon but wish I'd seen this one first.

Just ordered a Ghostek Covert 2 which should arrive early next week.

Feels like I'm getting as obsessed with buying cases as watch straps lol.

Thanks for your reply. I too like folio cases and usually get Twelve South BookBook for mine. Does the Apple case close properly? Is there a magnet to keep it shut?

This looks great. Is the silver decent on the edges? I went with fully clear cases to try and not cover up the steel sides, but most of them are thick TPU and actually do mask the silver, making it look milky.

Does it have a front lip to keep the screen safe? Got a link to it?

The silver rim is virtually identical to the silver on the actual phone so it looks good. And yes it has a lip. It sits pretty much flush if you have a glass screen protector on. It’s also thick enough to negate the camera bump.

There’s also a model with a black rim for the space gray models.

Thanks - bought.

Damn - I bought 6 cases before I even got my phone, and now I’ve bought 3 more :)

Returned 3 to amazon though

Spigen ultra hybrid - returned as not as slim as the ringke
Spigen air - returned for same reason
Ringke air - returned as it had a bit of a blue tint and not as clear as I wanted

Ringke fusion - kept for now as decent clear case. Still thicker than I want and the sides obscure the silver edges due to thickness

Caudabe lucid clear - best looking, super slim and shows the phone off nicely. But slippery and no front lip protection (this is my biggest issue and I’ve contacted caudabe to see what they say - they advertise it with a lip)

Spigen thin fit (metallic red) - looks great as a contrast to the black and silver. A bit slippery and some front lip but not much. Bit shiny for me but a good looker

Spigen thin fit (white) - still waiting from amazon but based on the red I have high hopes

Apple saddle brown leather case - very slippery in the hand and I don’t know if I like the opaque covering over the white back. Expensive too (all the other cases out together probably cost less than this). Jury's out but will probably go back.

Tozo clear with metallic edge - just ordered so let’s seem but fingers crossed.

All I want is that perfect slim clear case to show off the phone but provide good protection, with a front lip, and decent grip in the hand. Not much to ask for surely?

My cat keeps watch of the package that just came in today of my silver Spigen case that goes with a Spigen screen protector :) looks really nice in person and leaves the top, bottom, and buttons exposed. With AppleCare, I wanted a minimal look and I found it :D

It does apparently have a magnet at the bottom but it’s very weak. It doesn’t hold the cover shut per say. But, like now, my X is on my desk and the cover lays open flat. If I close it, it stays flat and doesn’t lift up since it’s been open for a while. In a good way the cover is slim and very flexible.

No sticking on the back?

Interestingly enough, there’s no sticking or “wetting” effect on the back.
It was one of the things I had feared about this case, as the one for the 7 jet black had horrible wetting.

I’ll say that I always go caseless but this is the first case I’ve had on a phone of mine that I️ actually can see myself keeping on.

That would annoy me too. & It'll definitely attract dust.

You should send feedback to them. Let them know to improve their standards. I was really hoping that would be the case for me....but maybe you got a bad one? See if you can get another one sent to prove this? I know I would.

I ordered the Peel

Extremly thin and very good fitting almost feels like I don’t have a case on

I know some people tell me why even put a case if it’s that thin I think it’s just to prevent scratches rather than a big drop

And let’s hope I never drop it haha
