I'm currently rocking the Apple Spicy Orange while I am waiting for some hologram cases to arrive from China. I would say it has modestly improved my winter blues.

Surprisingly the incipio dual pro has become my go to case. It’s grippy and feels very protective. They claim 10ft drop protection. Also the buttons are good and for whatever reason the bottom lip doesn’t get in the way of the home indicator swipes. I picked this one up not expecting to keep it and now it’s my favorite.

Clear? If so how’s it feel in the hand?

Black actually. The case is rounded to follow the curve of the phone so I really like that. Figure the clear will be the same. Not too bulky either. Definitely less than an Otterbox Symmetry but more than a spigen neo hybrid. I’ll try to take some pics later.

Edit: texture is like a non sticky version of the apple silicone

I second the Incipio Dual Pro. I have it in navy. Picked it up at Walmart a couple of weeks ago and have been pleasantly surprised. I expected it to be cheaply made and a quick return, but it has been one of my top cases for everyday use.

I ordered the black/grey plain case and received it today. Its an awesome minimalist case. The only negative is that it picks up oils from the hand and shows smudges. They wipe off easily. Minor annoyance.

How about the lip/raised edges on the front? Does it have enough to provide face down protection?

No lip/raised edges on the front. If that’s what you are looking for, then this is not the case for you. I’m running the Belkin anti-glare screen protector, so there is my front “protection.” :p

The Caudabe Sheath arrived in my mailbox yesterday and I am currently giving it a trial run. I must admit, I’ve never had a more mixed opinion about a case. The fit and finish are absolutely perfect. It’s almost as if the case is a part of the phone itself. Compared to the other cases I’ve been using, it feels like I’m not using a case at all.

The buttons are probably the best out of every case I tried. Only the Patchworks Level ITG comes close in that aspect; however, the buttons on that case are exposed around the sides, while the Sheath’s are completely covered.

The exterior finish of the case is slightly reminiscent of 0000 ultra fine sandpaper. It feels great in hand, is not slippery, nor is it a fingerprint magnet (my point of contention with several other cases I’ve tried).

Why the mixed opinion, then? I do not trust this case to offer any significant drop protection at all. Caudabe claims drop protection of up to 6.6 feet (2 meters), but I have a hard time believing that my phone will survive even a 1 foot drop in this case. I’ll keep using the case over the weekend before I reach my final verdict.

Thanks for the brief overview of this case. Seems to me the only thing that can change your verdict from what it is now is if you actually drop your phone 5-6 feet and it survives. Otherwise how will you know their claim is true?

Pretty much everything you said is how I feel about the sheath. Love how minimal it is and I like the navy color.

However, I don’t see any way it would provide shock protection on a 6-foot drop as Caudabe claims it is tested for. There’s no discernible “padding” on the inside of the case and it seems to be the same thinness throughout.

I’m not going to test it, so I’ll have to just take their word for it, but I know exactly where you’re coming from.

I have a glass screen protector and I can see it sticking up over the lip of the case for about a half a millimeter, when looking at the phone from one of the sides. If the phone is dropped and falls with the display facing down, the screen will most certainly not survive the drop. Then again, the whole point of Caudabe cases is minimalism. Everything about the case is great, besides the perceived lack of drop protection. I’m not about to test that perception, though.

Well, this confirms that our concerns were not invalid. I may have to reconsider keeping it.

There's no clear Sheath. Only black, red and navy. The Synthesis has a frosted clear option but with colored bumpers.

I got the black one.

Surprised the Synthesis hasn't had many reviews on here. It's probably the main Caudabe case I'm interested in. Though it does have a lip along the bottom edge which is a turn off.

I had it on my 7+. Probably one of the best cases I ever had. Light, grippy and no fingerprints. Dropped it a load of times with not a lick of phone damage. Just wish they made a better color combination for my silver ipX.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. Although I did try many pages ago on this thread. My opinion of that case is pretty much the same as yours exactly.

I trust slim cases like tech 21 much more than caudabe because they show you how it’s able to handle such high drops.

To be fair not many cases are going to protect a Face first drop.

Tech21 makes great cases. I used an Evo Check a few years ago, and my wife is currently using one on her phone.

For me it's less about drop protection but more about being able to place the phone face down.

If I were to place my phone face down while using the Sheath, it would be laying on the glass screen protector.
