The latest beta didn't fix any of my software problems. Adobe Audition CC (and the beta version of it) still have visual waveform issues in multitrack; RealVNC still not pulling video through; Google Back Up and Sync and Google File Stream still not working right. (I tried running the command in Terminal, and while FileStream now gets closer to working, it still doesn't actually work right for me)

With beta 3, the File Stream icon showed up in the top menu bar but did not work even with the command in Terminal. I had to quit the app, run the command again and now it is working!

Yeah, I get the icon, but I still get an error running the script. Some sort of "Unable to resolve dependencies error" - something to do with the "org.virtualbox.kext.vboxnetFLT" or something

No worries. There's a quick solution to that

Either try export SYSTEM_VERSION_COMPAT=1 in Terminal for one session
Or put it inside your bash_profile: nano ~/.bash_profile

Then start Parallels by Terminal open -a "Parallels Desktop"

It's a bit of a workaround, but at least it works. :)
I'm having trouble with this. It would be helpful if you included all the steps you took to accomplish this. I'm not as sophisticated as you but am comfortable using Terminal, etc. Thank you.

I think you need to do it after every restart, but if you do a bash like jsamuels said, you won't have to. I can't help you with that.

Working with DriveFS Version: 40.0.8.0. Google Drive File Stream running in Big Sur Beta 3, run the following commands in a Terminal:

sudo kmutil load -p "/Applications/Google Drive File Stream.app/Contents/MacOS/dfsfuse.kext"

Open file stream directly OR run:

1>/dev/null 2>/dev/null /Applications/Google\ Drive\ File\ Stream.app/Contents/MacOS/Google\ Drive\ File\ Stream &

If the process crashes after closing terminal do:

bash -c "nohup sh -c 'while true; do 1>/dev/null 2>/dev/null /Applications/Google\ Drive\ File\ Stream.app/Contents/MacOS/Google\ Drive\ File\ Stream ; sleep 1; done' &"

If you still have issues:
1.- Download and reinstall DriveFS (The installer was updated Jul. 22 ~10 pm CDT).
2.- Verify that the finder extension is allowed in ->System Preferences-> Extensions
3.- Verify security flags in System Preferences-> Security settings -> Allow GFS
Hope it helps.
backup and sync seems to be still broken in beta 3, can anyone confirm this?
[automerge]1595515211[/automerge]
Is there something similar for the backup and sync app?
thanks

I don't use Backup and Sync so can't test it. I believe this way around it only works with GSuite accounts.

Big Sur Beta 3 - VNC Client still not working, however
I found a post on Reddit that said that the VNC Client Extension for Google Chrome works ok on Linux VNC Servers.
I was able to confirm that it works.
I am now sort of almost nearly happy with BS Beta.

Thanks! Unfortunately, I uninstalled Parallels per a comment they made on their Twitter support feed and now cannot reinstall. Appreciate your assistance.

p.s. I restored Parallels from a Time Machine backup and using your commands. all works well. <Thanks again.

p.p.s. SPoke too soon. Now generates a critical error with no more info. I've sent to Paralells.

New temporary fix from Parallels:
Install Parallels Desktop from App Store (applicable only to subscription owners only):
  1. Remove the existing Parallels Desktop application file from the /Application folder.
  2. Install Parallels Desktop from App Store
  3. Activate the product by clicking I have Subscription button and select your subscription from the list.
  4. Click Open... button in the Installation Assistant window to locate your virtual machine (by default virtual machines are stored in Documents or Home folder/Parallels folders). KB 117333 will help to locate your virtual machine.

Not able to get slack 4.8 working (either as a direct download or via App Store install) on the Apple Silicon DTK running latest beta... Anyone else having problems ?

Yeah, it still doesn't work for me (and I made sure I installed the latest version as you mentioned above).

Here is the error I get inside of terminal when I try to run the first command:

Error: Error Domain=KMErrorDomain Code=1 "Unable to resolve dependencies: 'org.virtualbox.kext.VBoxUSB' names a dependency on 'org.virtualbox.kext.VBoxDrv', which was not found." UserInfo={NSLocalizedDescription=Unable to resolve dependencies: 'org.virtualbox.kext.VBoxUSB' names a dependency on 'org.virtualbox.kext.VBoxDrv', which was not found.}

Any thoughts?

All is working for bar a few utilities;

- Little Snitch
- Dropbox
- Onyx
- TinkerTool
- CCC (reports incompatibility, but seems to work)
- DaisyDisk

I see tht some people are reporting the following not working, but they work fine for me;

- Parallels (Win10 from BootCamp)
- MS 365 Suite
Wil Daisy Disk even launch? Anyone hear of a beta?

Thanks

Working:
CleanMyMac
Sketch

Not working:
Abstract
Question, what do you like most about CleanMy Mac? I"m on the fence with the product. I need something like this but does it live u to the hype in your opinion?

Thanks!

I tried the suggested and it worked, Windows 10 did start, I could login and then after the password login, Windows 10 did die on me. Any thoughts.

Active Trader Pro now crashes upon startup on this new Beta (20A5323l). Sent report to Apple.

Yeah, this won’t work for a lot of people. The App Store version of Parallels will NOT work with a VM created in the Pro version, or running off BootCamp. So, that would be a no-go.

The above mentioned way of starting Parallels via Terminal works, and Win10 runs fine from then on out, but I wish someone a heck of a lot smarter than me, would package that up into a .command file I could run from the dekstop.

The commands in Terminal are;

export SYSTEM_VERSION_COMPAT=1

type :
open -a "Parallels Desktop"

I installed the VmWare Fusion Tech Preview works.
I’ve created Ubuntu 20.04 and Elementary OS VMs but I’m having some problems sharing Mac home directory, e.g. Can’t see anything inside Documents but Library contents are accessible.

Thanks for your clarification. I have the standard edition, not pro, and the suggested solution for Big Sur worked.

Final note on Parallels - I stole this from a post on the Parallels forum:

For those using the installer version (as the App Store version is inferior): create an Automator Application, with only one drop-in: Run Shell Script. Then paste the following text into the shell script drop-in and save it to Home (Your user folder) -> Applications as something like "Parallels Launcher"

Code:

export SYSTEM_VERSION_COMPAT=1
open -a Parallels\ Desktop

This will add a launcher utility to your Launchpad that will launch Parallels Desktop and circumnavigate the launching bug, without having to launch from Terminal every time. You can even customize the icon to your liking and drop it into the dock.

I would like to report that Inkscape 1.0 not working on Big Sur beta 3, it's totally transparents when I open it up.

Thanks. Unfortunately, per another note on the Parallels forum, I uninstalled with the notion of reinstalling. The new installation now fails. Guess I'll try the Terminal trick to see if it works for installation, but I don't believe the Terminal script will run a dmg file. Guess I'll keep using the inferior version until there's an official update.
