Still locking up at startup sometimes.
balenaEtcher doesn't work, neither does unetbootin.

If Big Sur is having problems with fundamental things like file and volume structure, it is nowhere near ready for primetime.

Does anybody know if Apple is watching this forum? Or is it just dismissed as the views of amateurs?

Yesterday I needed to flash an ubuntu stick. Unetbootin didn't even start up, but balenaEtcher did the work without issues (I'm on Big Sur Beta 8).

What problem did you ran into?

Agree on the fundamental things. ISO support is still AWOL, and there are a myriad of other issues.

I doubt that someone from Apple watches every fan forum (could be wrong, though). They really expect us to file radars. I have filed dozens of them, but can't say for sure if that actually helps.

What I found was that, in beta 7 and beta 8, I cannot use the builtin Cisco IPSEC VPN Client to connect to an older VPN3000 that we have for emergencies. It seems that either:

a.) There are some older IKE phase 1 proposals that were deprecated, hence it cannot connect, or...
b.) There are some issues in the raccoon daemon configuration files.

Has anybody experienced something similar? Catalina and Windows connect just fine, so I'm certain it's not the VPN3000.

Ok, I have experimented a bit more.
As with yourself, unetbootin doesn't even complete starting up, while the same app works fine on Catalina.
balenaEtcher is a bit more weird. I can't flash a USB SSD drive, nor can I flash an SD card in a USB adaptor.
When I try to select it as the target, it says it is the source drive.
However, if I take the same SD card and put it in the slot at the back of the iMac, it recognises it properly.
It doesn't matter if I have freshly re-partitioned the SD card or if it has a previous image on it.

You say Netbeans 12 is working, but as soon as I access a project properties dialog, the whole program hangs and all the widgets start blinking like crazy. I haven't been successful with any version of Netbeans on Big Sur.
I'm having this exact same issue. Anyone has found a workaround for it? It's annoying...

Libreoffice works, but the fonts are not anti-aliased properly unless I use the highest resolution on my iMac, which makes everything else too small. It works fine on Catalina. Using Libreoffice 7.0.1 (latest release). Turning anti-alias off in LO just makes it subtly worse.
No problems with sharpness of screen fonts in any other application (Pages, MS Word, WPS Office) on the same document with the same fonts. Just Libreoffice on Big Sur.

Ok, I have now just done a clean install of Big Sur Beta 9 on a freshly partitioned and formatted SSD.
All seems to be working properly. It seems to be a bit snappier and smoother than earlier versions.

I tried (twice) to update BS 8 to 9 and it didn't work properly. Then I noticed that Beta 9 full install was available for download (hint, boot in Catalina, enrol in Beta program, download the full installer (12.2 Gbytes) and install from that.

I have rebooted several times, and there are none of the startup glitches where it was just hanging sometimes.

I did this a week ago. The 12GB download was beta 6 and after a restart a second update was a 3GB download to beta 8.
Seems after full installer of beta 6 Apple switched to smaller, weekly updates.

Any IntelliJ / PyCharm users? If I go to Add Confirguration... > Templates > Python & add a Script path in either IntelliJ or PyCharm on Big Sur PB8, the app crashes.

I'm using PyCharm 2020.2.2 and it doesn't crash on me. Let me add the script path with no issues. This is running on Big Sur PB9.

Apple doesn't "officially" watch any forum, including their own–though they do have a bunch of employees that read the website on a regular basis.

And as far as these forums, they ARE the views of amateurs. 99.9% of the "bugs" people complain about here are not bugs at all, just poor user habits and/or lack of common sense.

AdGuard 2.5.0.900 (maybe also earlier releases) works after changing to auto proxy in options.

Checked on beta 9.
