I can't seem to EDIT, so apologies for the reply:

I've found that Clear Sky, iGlasses and Vuze do not work with Big Sur.
One of the pieces of documentation on the site said that you have to have certain properties attached to your account in order to edit. I was also unable to edit, and it is possible that all "newbies" are unable to edit. Are any "newbies" able to edit.

Updated to Big Sur 11.0.1... I thought it was going to be startlingly seamless... even the picky Konica BizHub printer at my office that has given me fits every significant OS update works fine...

But HP's driver for many of their older drivers won't work - and the "solution" from HP is their old "HPPrinterDriver5.1" form their support page... which worked under Catalina.... just plain won't work under Big Sur. Here is what happens when you launch the installer:

DriveDX:

This 'works' on Big Sur and presents SMART data for the internal disk.

But I can't find a way of getting it to see SMART data on external disks (like it used to).

Has anyone managed to get it working? What did you do?

After upgrading my Macbook Pro to Big Sur, my Photoshop CC 2019 tools aren't displaying properly. All I see are boxes with no words next to each of the icons. Any suggested fix? Thanks in advance.

I am a bit perturbed that there is a whole point update a few days after the public release. But not so perturbed that I'm not currently downloading and installing it...
But, this is my play copy of Big Sur. I had hoped, though, that it would be stable enough for me to switch it over to being my main working OS. I may have to wait a little longer.

MoneyDance 2010 which requires Java Runtime 6 to operate was broken under Catalina UNTIL it was modified by a shell script created in script editor:

set theDMG to choose file with prompt "Please select javaforosx.dmg:" of type {"dmg"}
do shell script "hdiutil mount " & quoted form of POSIX path of theDMG
do shell script "pkgutil --expand /Volumes/Java\\ for\\ macOS\\ 2017-001/JavaForOSX.pkg ~/tmp"
do shell script "hdiutil unmount /Volumes/Java\\ for\\ macOS\\ 2017-001/"
do shell script "sed -i '' 's/return false/return true/g' ~/tmp/Distribution"
do shell script "pkgutil --flatten ~/tmp ~/Desktop/ModifiedJava6Install.pkg"
do shell script "rm -rf ~/tmp"
display dialog "Modified ModifiedJava6Install.pkg saved on desktop" buttons {"Ok"}

This creates a modified Java 6 installation package which, when run, allowed MoneyDance 2010 to open and run normally. Has anybody tried to run a modified form of Java Runtime 6 such as this in Big Sur and has it worked? I was totally freaked out when I upgraded to Catalina and couldn't get this program to open and I'm frightened to upgrade to Big Sur until somebody can give me guidance here.

Messages seems to work, except that it can no longer open and show iChat files which is a major loss of a feature

I am regretting updating to Big Sur 11.1 Beta 20C5048k from Big Sur 11.0.1 20B29

I am getting occasional freezes running various apps from Finder to Terminal. And I have invested so much time installing all my favourite apps, it's going to be a pain rebuilding again.

I'm hoping it's the beta, not the Fusion drive I built from left-over drives I don't use any more...

Anyway, unless you suffer from untreatable, incurable curiosity, and have a working copy of 11.0.1 20B29, I would stay where you are.

If you have one of the Macbooks that is being bricked by updating to Big Sur, and you haven't yet, download Big Sur 11.0.1 20B50. Apparently it won't let you install it if you have one of the affected machines.
Alternatively, don't waste 30 minutes downloading it and then not being able to update, by simply sticking with Catalina until Apple gets their excrement together...

Also, what is Apple's legal position when
  • they post an upgrade to your OS,
  • and virtually force you to install it, even to the point of not letting you hide the update,
  • then refuse to fix your computer or want to charge you $500 for the privilege of breaking your laptop?

I can confirm that:

- Yippy (2.4.0) is working
- MotionPro Plus (2.0.2 Build 436 - Array Network) is working
- Arduino (1.8.13) is opening, still not test the serial stuff
- Magnet (2.5.0) is working

Still need to check Tuxera NTFS (i didn't find any new version)

For those that own the GoPro Fusion 360 Camera, GoPro will not update the Fusion Studio software (for stitching the video) to run on Big Sur.

Is your WebEx Meetings app working? Mine does not work. When I clicked a meeting link, the app would just show up briefly and then disappeared. In the first post of this thread, it was stated that WebEx Meetings is compatible with Big Sur. However, on WebEx's website, Big Sur is not listed as a supported OS.

MacX YouTube Downloader - in Big Sur on M1 MacBook Air. Works BUT cannot seem to create its own destination folder. Do this manually, name Mac Video Library and place in Movies folder. Then app worked fine for the two videos I fetched.

SteelSeries Engine 3 mostly works except key re-binding is broken and if the app is quit from the menu bar, it won't open again unless the Mac has been rebooted. Also every time the SSE GUI is opened, it shows a JavaScript error.
I think this issue still remains. I'm able to adjust mouse sensitivity but key rebinding doesn't work. I use a Rival 500 and had rebinded mouse buttons 4 and 5 to the OS shortcuts "Back" and "Forward" respectively. This worked fine prior to upgrading.

Photo Booth is broken!— well, at least in my user account. Hey, I actually like Photo Booth and need to use it from time to time.

Interesting observation: If I switch to a test account, open Photo Booth there, it work just fine, shows what the camera sees. So, not a hardware issue.

Back to my account: When Photo Booth opens on our MBP, the dinky green light comes on atop our display, yet the app won't display the camera's output; it's black. No problem with the camera, however, with FaceTime, FCPX, Zoom or similar. Didn't work in Safe Mode. Switching to a different user, as mentioned above, remedies the problem; but I want it to work in my user account. And I really want to understand what's going on here.

Apple Support suggested I reinstall 11.0.1, which I dutifully did. And no, it didn't help.

Then I noticed something curious. Back in my account, if I option+drag and make a copy of Photo Booth, that version, when opened, immediately displays the camera's output. Hm, and yet the original version still fails. But not the second! Why?
