I'm running 3GS and am having zero luck and know of many more people with the 3GS, same situation..... I think it has to do more with Windows, than the device it self.
Sorry, cant help...I use pure XP w/SP3. I will NOT use Vista even if it is given to me. When Win7 is released on the 22 then I will be buying for $36 and upgrading all but my laptop which will stay prime XP.
I recommend that all of you that are having problems do a simple restore to 3.1.2. If you cannot get it to restore...shut down your computer and do not load any programs other then iTunes on boot up and restore to 3.1.2. Once you have restored to 3.1.2 then shut the computer down again. After start up complete then use Blackra1n only and do not open iTunes.
To try it over I mean close blackra1n, disconnect iPhone, reboot iPhone, reattach iPhone, run blakra1n again.
Repeat until it works.
Interesting. PDANet doesn't show up on a search on the RYP site although it's in Cydia.
I've tried restoring back and forth through itunes back to blackrain, maybe 5 or 6 times now, with no luck.
Even tried uninstalling itunes when i ran rain.
I'm running SP3 but don't see it in the compatibility mode settings.....using Vista 32bit, running admin and setting up as new iphone from restore.
Not sure what to do know, besides run a stock iphone...or try blackrain on a PC with XP

You have to have it in XP compatibility mode from what I have seen. Google it and it should tell you where the controls are.

Geo always releases windows version first or twice now. he is more of a pc guy Dev Team is more Mac, you right what you use. I also tend to find while I like Geo Dev teams JB more they seam more stable.
Seems blackra1n was rushed out without being fully tested. He should've released it on OS X

If it's an AT&T locked phone and you unlock it then proceed to update using iTunes, it will upgrade the baseband and not allow you to unlock it again (unless an exploit is found).
But the phone itself will still work technically...
Would there be any reason at all to re-jailbreak on 3.1 if I already had it jailbroken from a custom 3.1 IPSW from pwnagetool that I downloaded?
it is on XP compatibility mode...but like I've mentioned 3 times before, I'm running SP3 but don't see the option to select it, I only see XP SP2....If that's the problem does anyone know how to fix it, gosh someone must know how to do this out there! Help please.

No, he had to write and test a separate jailbreak for the 3G and 3GHaves even posted a picture of all six devices lined up in recovery mode waiting for their turn in the ra1n.
I finally got it to work!!!
Took at least 20 different tries. I got it to work by starting Blackra1n and when it says it's waiting on iPhone, I rebooted the phone by holding the sleep and home buttons. Once the Blackra1n image showed on the iPhone, it didn't work. I had to keep trying and finally the Blackra1n image showed on the screen and this time it did work.

I'm really having a hard time believing that. He can claim he did that. But however all the issues 3G users are having is convincing me otherwise.
Wow! You decided to give up on ability to unlock in the future (increase the value of your phone) so you could update to 3.1.2 now? Even if you don't need it unlocked, it doesn't seem wise. Should've used custom 3.1 to restore and wait for JB 3.1.2 from Dev team so can unlock if needed. Too late now
Who are you to give him crap for running the jailbreak. It's HIS phone and if he doesn't want to unlock it he has no reason to stop himself from running this jailbreak.
He can do what he wants with his iPhone and you can do what you want with yours. It's attitudes like yours on here that keep people from asking questions etc afraid of getting crap because they did something different or asked for help due to a mistake. Stop being a troll

So you think he was just making up all those twitters about working on the 3G jailbreak? And how do you think he wrote the 3G jailbreak without testing it on a 3G? You do realize that the jailbreaks are different, right? And why would he not have tested it on the 3G he had sitting right there on his desk? You make no sense.
XP Compatibility mode is only used for people not actually running XP SP3 (mainly Vista or 7). Ignore mentions of compatibility mode if you're actually running XP SP3. You don't need it.
I'm sure he tested it, I like many 3G users are really freaking frustrated. Overly frustrated (heck thats probably an understatement at this point.) That there are so many issues and none of us seem to be able to jailbreak. Can you explain that one for me?
