I really have exactly the same problem and in the same place. I discovered it in the eighth month of this year and the iPad has stayed a month and a half until the end of the normal warranty period. I certainly contacted the company immediately and they told me that they did not discover anything, although this problem is obvious if they checked the screen well, they do not seem to want to help me. Knowing that I live in Germany.

Check out the exact problem I’ve it on my ipad pro. I’ve initially discovered it on Dec 4 and it’s starting to developer into a bigger bright patch over time.

That’s concerning if it gets bigger overtime. I have a small dot at the bottom left corner, and thinking if I should have it replace, i don’t think Apple has a resolution yet, so replacement unit will probably have the same issue and could be in the middle of the screen which is worst than what I got now.

So I just bought the 10.5 and came across this thread. Is this issue a dealbreaker? I bought the old Pro to avoid the bending issues !!

It's impossible to tell how prevalent the problem really is - on forums, you hear from the people with issues (as expected). I've had mine for over a year, no issues.

Well I hate to imform you but the two iPad pro’s I had the problem with were 2018 models, when speaking to an Apple support supervisor he said it could have been just a bad batch, but I don’t think so, it appears that the 12’s 10.5’s and also the new 11” models are all suffering the same issue, the first iPad Pro that had the problem did last just under 12 months before it appeared, the replacement took only 6 months to develop the same white spot, almost in the same area near the home button.
Yes I think for some hell bent reason of trying to get them thiner it’s causing heat problems, I personally couldn’t care if the iPad was slightly thicker and even heavier, why they persist on going that way is beyond me.
[doublepost=1546221628][/doublepost]Actually I’m at a mind now not to buy anymore Apple iPad pros until I hear that this issue has been addressed

The design of the board is different, if there is a white spot, it is in another place. Hopefully not.

Considering the numerous complaints of this bright spot issue it seems like this is fundamentally a design issue. Meaning that it can't be fixed, unless Apple re-designs the internals of the iPad Pro and change their manufacturing process... which is definitely not going to happen.

I say anyone who has this issue to try to get a replacement device, then sell it. Wait until Apple announces a repair program, or a lawsuit slaps them on the face.

Sadly, that is what it is going to take. And if one was skeptical of others complaining about other issues, maybe they'll be a bit more sympathetic (rather than blame the accuser of being a troll or drama queen).

The bright spot will come. When I had my 10.5, it took around 4 to 5 months to appear and I never maxed out brightness on it ever since it was already too bright at 80 percent brightness. This same display is on the 2018 pros as well so everyone look out for it in the next several months if you purchased the newer pros.

I've had my 10.5 for 13+ months now and almost always use max brightness and have no bright spots. I use it a lot every day as a consumption device as I I'm retired.

And do you have 20/20 vision....you may be lucky enough not being able to see the bright spot even if it's there.

I have to agree, the spot is hard to see at first, but when you do recognise where it is you’ll notice it quickly, also it’s only visible on backgrounds that are lighter, almost white, I also know you’d like to say “it can’t happen to me” I hope, good luck

I'm not saying it can't happen to me, just that it hasn't yet. And I do know how and where to look for it. But you can't just say that it will happen to everybody based on "it happened to me" postings in forums.

It took mine a year and a half to develop it. Auto-brightness always.

So sit back and relax and play the Apple roulette!

The 2018 iPad has been almost perfect for me (save for less RAM), given the Pros’ white spot, irresponsive touch problems and potential for bending. I am holding off on buying another Pro and waiting for The Mini and/or 2019 iPad. These might tick off all my boxes (especially if they bump the ram up to 3 or 4gb and give the Mini pencil support.)

I recently returned a new 10.5" because the storage was too small and that I did not want to deal with white spot issues especially since I was paying almost as much as the 2017 12.9" that failed on me.

It's frustrating. I also believe the thinness is a culprit for many of these issues as my 2017 12.9" wifi iPP got very hot in spots while I was drawing in Procreate. Eventually, my screen stopped responding to touch. I couldn't get a replacement as I could not replicate the problem at Apple, so I took a hit and sold it while I still could get something for it (bought the 2018 iPad with the money).

I don't remember my iPad Mini 4 ever getting so hot (I didn't draw on it, but even when playing games for a while or toggling between movies and long writing/surfing sessions), it never warmed up.

I hope Apple addresses and fixes all these issues with the Pros this year, but as they keep making them thinner, who can say?

You my friend, have made the right choice.

The 2018 Ipad is the deal. Looking forward to the 2019 ones too.

My wife has a 2.5 year old Mini4 that still is perfect till today.

My dad has my old Air1 that is even older, and still no issues with screen or anything.

I’ll be returning the Pro 11” after having an unsellable 10.5 now (in good conscience that is). I won’t be filling Apples coffers any longer as they have added insult to injury with the way they are handling this issue.

Doing that, and/or buying the cheaper iPads is a good way to vote with your wallet.

Granted, not every iPad Pro is developing these issues, but it still is quite frustrating given the prices and that things keep happening as Apple makes these thinner.

The cpu’s are getting larger, that generally means more heat dissipation that combined with making them thinner I feel is where the problem lies
