Given what we see are you going to buy a new iPad this year? Is this their way of making us buy Apple Care to handle this kind of defect?
Returned the air and got a good deal on the pro 11 inch. Also got a great deal on the keyboard and pencil open box that were 195 for both. The savings on those almost off set the cost difference between the devices.

Those white spots seem extremely tiny.
They were tiny but there were actually 3 and the pic was crap. Still 3 on a less than 6 month old unit (as it was not on display there in the summer iirc) is concerning as those issues existed in the 10.5 IPP

This 10.5" Pro is a beauty. I love it already! It was sealed and also one of the last units produced, 06/2018 according to Coconut, with still over 98% battery health. I also love iPadOS and Procreate 5. Major leap from my older 9.7" device. The risk of getting a brighter spot is a worthy the trade-off for me, especially since I payed 450$ instead of 600-700$ and it is more of a cosmetic annoyance, rather than a more serious issue like bendgate. Still uncertain if I shall activate ACP.

The issue seems to be much less common on the iPad Air 3.
The Air got released two years later and shares the same form-factor of the Pro 10.5", so people assuming they have bet on the safe boat might get a nasty surprise in 1-2 years, too. Leaving the slightly newer A12 and BT5.0 aside, I would still go for the Pro anytime (better GPU, RAM, Speakers, Camera, USB3 and 120Hz) if being on a thighter budget, or not a fan of the newer models.

Yeah, it’s barely noticeable to me. If you do get it and you’re not picky, you can just keep using it.

Took my 2018 pro back to the Metro Centre store (UK) because of the white "Nike swoosh" mark on the screen. It was replaced within a matter of minutes. Top customer service.

I have an iPad Pro 10.5 in warranty that was suffering from a bright screen issue and they refused to replace it, as there was also a slightly bent chassis. Is this bright spot issue occurring in conjunction with a bend on the chassis?

No. Mine was otherwise perfect but I still got the bright spot appear in the exact same place as everyone else.

Hmm. Could I argue that if the bright spot was in the center of the display (where the bent happened), then it would’ve been because of the bend but it was at the area closer to the home button? unless the bend takes precedence in terms of handling the case?

Do any of you have experiences regarding Apple's reaction to an iPP 10.5 2017 in perfect physical condition with the "known" bright spots at the center above the Home Button?

Had AC+, unfortunately the issue appeared after the two year warranty period and the bright spot is getting larger.

I'd be a bit p****d to pay the full amount for a screen replacement where the underlying issue isn't the user's fault.

If your unit is under warranty, they will replace it. However, since you unit is not under warranty, have a conversation and/or open a ticket anyway. They may do a goodwill gesture and replace it.

This has been an issue since 2008 (this thread is 50+ pages long). I sold my unit after I got a replacement so that I wouldn't run into this problem with the replacement unit after the warranty expired.

I experienced this first hand and I understand the frustration. The fact that Apple continued this design with the iPad Air is just unacceptable. That is the iPad I would NOT recommend to anyone.

Apple replaced my white spot iPad. I’ve had my replacement about a year and half now I think. No white spot on this one so far.

Where are you based and where did you buy your iPad from?

I noticed this on mine recently, it’s a small spot but noticeable on bright screens. I’ve switched the OS to dark mode and it doesn’t bother me 90% of the time, but wondering if this is the same issue people are reporting in this thread? Most white spot photos I’ve seen have had a spot which has been larger, less bright and above the home button.

Here is the “decorative” white spot on my 10.5 11 inch pro. I think this is the typical one...about 2 inches above home button. There are a couple of additional white spots (smaller and much fainter) that are beginning to appear about mid way in the screen.

ok, so you should be covered by EU law for this. Take to an Apple store if you can - I realise that is not an option at the moment. They will give it a look over and confirm the issue but would charge you for a replacement. Ask them to print out a report of the issue instead then take this to the store you bought it from. This will confirm there is a defect and the store you bought it from should then have to replace it for you.
I had to do this here in the UK and got a replacement.

Ended up taking my 10.5 back to an Apple Store when it was about 14 months old. They replaced it. I then sold the replacement as I wasn’t hanging around waiting to see if it would happen again. I grabbed the 11 inch. Glad I did.

I would get that addressed as soon as possible or sell it

Mine started out like that then the spots just started increasing after a few weeks of use to the point my screen started looking like it had measles. My iPad Pro got sold for a quarter of the price it would have gone for had I sold it when it had just 1 spot.
The spot is a sign that your screen is delaminating.
