I would get that addressed as soon as possible or sell it

Mine started out like that then the spots just started increasing after a few weeks of use to the point my screen started looking like it had measles. My iPad Pro got sold for a quarter of the price it would have gone for had I sold it when it had just 1 spot.
The spot is a sign that your screen is delaminating.
Uh oh, I didn't need any more reason to look at the new 11" model...

How long did you have it? Was it under AC+? Which country? Was it out of warranty when they replaced it?

My iPad was just under a year old when they replaced it. And yes I did have AC+ on it. I’m in the US. I believe they used AC+ to replace it at the time although it was still under warranty.

ok, so you should be covered by EU law for this. Take to an Apple store if you can - I realise that is not an option at the moment. They will give it a look over and confirm the issue but would charge you for a replacement. Ask them to print out a report of the issue instead then take this to the store you bought it from. This will confirm there is a defect and the store you bought it from should then have to replace it for you.
I had to do this here in the UK and got a replacement.

Unfortunately EU consumer protection laws regarding faulty products only cover purchases up to 24 months :(
(it is up to the country to demand longer periods (i. e. 5 (?) years in UK) but in Germany the national laws only cover the shortest time period allowed by EU law of 24 months :(

So basically f***ed to pay full repair prices unless Apple starts a repair program.

So I got similar problem with my 2017 Ipad Pro 10.5. Unfortunately it started showing up a month after the warranty expired. I’m working in a different country and can’t take it to the store i originally got it from. It’s frustrating since I always baby my apple products and it’s otherwise in mint condition.

Do it online. Goto Apple support online. Register and explain. As long as you tell them now when in warranty it’ll be ok, obviously tell them the circumstances. You can still get a box from Apple to send away now.

Thanks for the reply. But like i wrote it happened after the warranty expired. So no cover for me now. I don’t understand what could cause it. I never dropped my tablet or hit it. It’s in perfect condition. I did notice when i bought it that when you pressed the screen on one side it made a tiny cracking sound. But didn’t think it was a big enough deal to return it and exchange for another one.

I've just sent my 2017 Pro back to Apple for a similar issue. First noticed the screen would go unresponsive for a while and more recently light bleeding near the edge of the screen. Hope the £560 odd I've spent as it was just under 24 months old doesn't mean I get a poor repair job that fails in 6 months.

Do You guys know how I could contact apple over email? I am originally from australia where i purchased it but now working in czech republic where there is no official apple store. And i can’t seem to be able to chat with apple support since once I type in my ipads serial number it just says it’s not covered anymore and won’t let me connect with apple’s customer support.

Odd. Mine was out of warranty but I was still able to chat with someone.

Well my replacement has been shipped but going by the new serial number it seems they found a 2yr old gen 2 in the warehouse to send me.

Would have been cheaper to get a replacement from CEX. Looking forward to it to start malfunctioning within the next 3 months. ?

Similar thing happened to me with my iphone 6. I had it covered under apple care and accidentally dropped it few months before the warranty expired. The screen of the replaced iphone stopped responding completely about a month after the warranty expired. The fix would’ve been too expensive so ended up being a paper weight. Getting tired of this bull....

I have an approx 1in spot on my iPad Pro screen which is brighter than the rest of the screen - it's unevenly lit. The spot is about 2in above the home button, and although it has soft edges, I'm anal about my gadgets, and the difference in brightness could be described as 'minor', it's clearly there. It looks a bit like a pressure spot or similar. I always keep it in a case with a screen protector and the Smart Keyboard, so it's well looked-after.

I can't find much about similar issues online - anyone heard anything similar? I have a Genius Bar appointment later in the week to see what Apple think (spending £800 on an iPad means I pretty much expect it to still be perfect within the warranty period).
Battery pressing on the screen

Is it not a widespread issue?
It is a widespread issue. I’ve had it and the apple techs who denied my claim had it on their own ipad, and practically all 10.5pro they had on display had it.

Its a subtle but ugly issue, especially to people like us who keep their devices pristine. Ipad 10.5pro just not enought of a base to make it a class-action it seems. Many kids and grandparents probably would not notice it unless it was pointed out to them.

Lost a lot of respect for Apple after this.

I'm having this exact same issue! It started about 6 months ago but I had no idea this was widespread. I don't have apple care. Should I email apple for a replacement?

I purchased the 12.9 2020 iPad Pro on launch and just noticed two bright spots on the display. If this is an issue with their display quality every time something really needs to be done about it. I paid $1600 for a high quality device and I’m a bit frustrated now.

This is a different issue to what is being discussed in this thread as this relates to the 10.5 specifically with one area of the screen developing a bright spot over time.
For your case I would just take it to Apple who should swap it out for you.

Just had same issue on Ipad Air 3 bought June 2019, sending in for express replacement. Surprised they still charged it for screen damage despite it seeming to be a device flaw and used one of the accidental damage incidents.

Bought my iPad Pro 10.5 last year, July 2019. After 3 months, the white spot appears. I immediately bring it to the nearest apple authorized service center(I was in another country, iPad warranty is international) and got it replaced. The replacement is good, there’s no white spot until now. Maybe I got lucky I got the good unit, I hope the white spot won’t appear anymore even the warranty period expires.
