Darn! I wanted to going to buy one of the 10.5” iPad pros for my job as my mobile work device... is this defect super widespread and is there a higher chance of getting a light-spot if I bought a 10.5”?
🤔
If you are in a country with AppleCare+, you should be able to replace it if the issue occurs, as long as you pay each month. (It’s up to you to decide if it is worth the risk.)

I had this issue once, no problem to replace for this issue as I had AppleCare (2 year, switched to month to month now that that ended.)

I have no idea of the frequency of this problem, only Apple knows the failure rate due to this issue.

I had the white spot issue on my first two iPP 10.5. Apple replaced them as I had Apple Care. My third is now two years old and doesn’t have the spot (yet). I keep looking for it, like I’m expecting to get it but yet my screen is great and my battery is holding up well too.

My replacement was shipped to me on 27/08/2019, so just over a year ago now. I just looked up the email. So my iPad is actually just over 1 year old.
I had purchased my original iPP 10.5 in June 2017, at release. I had taken my iPP with screen issues to the Apple Store in June 2019 before my Apple Care expired, but it was too busy to get seen. Then I ended up in hospital, so there was a delay in getting my replacement sorted. So that is why my replacement was shipped to me in August last year.

What products do you buy now? Switching from Apple is a major step, or it would be for me.

Surface Book 2 is a total replacement for iPad Pro & MacBook Pro combined. It's kind of expensive but there are cheap models.

Galaxy Active 2 is a replacement for Apple Watch, it's even better in some sense with Spotify offline mode and custom watchfaces.

After Apple announced war on real games (a.k.a. Fortnite battle) I'm planning to switch my iPhone for Google Pixel 4 or 5 or whatever if they don't change their mind. Tired of Apple Arcade walled garden.

The only thing I would be missing is the iCloud Photos/Moments/etc. So haven't switched that one yet.
Apple Silicon scares me the most of all. That's when the walled garden probably turns into a legoland if you see what I mean. But hope they won't keep it that closed.

Hello, I am looking for some suggestions, I am on a tight budget and budget ipad is meant for people like me..

Anyway

I am getting a replaced pro 10.5 with 6 months remaining warranty at the same price at which the new budget ipad 8 gen with A12 is going to release in my country..

So its cheaper than the air 3 apparently..

The person who got it replaced in the first place had the white spot problem..

What do you guys suggest what if i develop this issue after 7-9 months, how bad does it get, does it deteriorate with passage of time?

Nd there is a thread already up where people have started experiencing white spot in their air 3 already..

I am all confused..
My usage is very basic, media consumption, reading , note taking, strictly no video editing or photo editing..

Just for balance, my 10.5 pro is more than 18 months old now, no sign of a white spot here.

As more and more days pass by, I think we get farther and farther from starting a possible lawsuit.
Well apple issued a recall for the retina macbook pros years after their release due to the staingate/laminated display issue surfacing after years of use. hopefully something similar will happen?

Can someone guide me with this doubt, what if i have a pro 10.5 and damage its back cover, crack it or whatever and later take it to the care for white spot problem, will they object to physical damage or is the white spot thing sufficient for them to replace the unit?

I doubt Apple would fix it if it has physical damage. They would say that the issue arose due to the physical damage.

Got mine mid-2017 and got it replaced one year after due to this bright spot. The second one got a bright spot, one week after the end of the warranty (24 months in EU)
It's quite annoying but with dark mode, it's quite transparent now... but this should not happen for pricy iPad like this one.
I was wondering if somebody have already used the Apple Trade-in program with an iPad 10,5 with a bright spot.
Would they accept it ? or would they consider it's a damaged product ?

As a former 10.5pro owner with the defect...stay away from this lemon product!

Get a 2018 11Pro or even better yet the new Air4. These have hardly any touch issues or bright spots. I’ve had my 11Pro for 13 months now and its a good device.

Hello guys, i recently bought this model new and i'm really worried about this bright spot.
what do you think causes the bright spot? i feel like it is heat related, based on ipad air 2019 teardown which apple shielded that part which bright spot appears!
somebody in here said that part is where wifi and airplan card is located, so if i dont use wifi it won't happen? i can use cellular instead of wifi , i'm not playing any games on it just in case that heat causes this problem
the only thing that i'm using this ipad for is watching movies (offline) and sometimes youtube.
i'm also not using apple pencil and smart keyboard.
hopefully with this usage pattern there will be no bright spot.
i dont want to sell it just in case anybody asked to buy new model instead!

My cellular 10.5 is 3 years old with heavy usage and has no issues. Nobody has answers to your questions, only speculation, as causes are unknown.

Mine only has a very small bright spot. The bigger issue with mine is that the backlight flickers in one of the corners.

Ipad Pro 2020 after 5 months.

So I believe that has less to do with the bright spot issue owners of the 10.5 faced. This looks to be a bad few pixels whereas the others here face a battery swelling a bit against the screen (I think).
that being said, if it’s only 5 months old I would think apple would repair or replace this for you.
