Holdonaminute - you can't pay with AMEX on Paybright?
Nope. They require auto-pay (I dislike this for such minor purchases, it isn’t a mortgage!) and they offer that via bank withdrawals or credit withdrawals via MasterCard or Visa (AMEX is my preference here too). Taxes are paid upfront, fair enough, but the carriers don’t do that just as a point of comparison. I am very happy with their clear communication via email and PDF payment summaries which were all provided quickly.

So the previous order will automatically get cancelled right?
Yeah I assume so since I never completed payment for it. It seems like it’s already timed out/cancelled on Apple’s end — they won’t load the link to complete payment anymore (stopped working after about 90 minutes).

Ok maybe the crappy was a bit much...but could it be a possibility that good reviews (like dxomark) shows that the jump from last year is negligible ?
Unlikely given the physical changes to the phone lens and camera system, but sure, it's possible. Many (most?) people are upgrading from phones older than the iPhone 12 so year-to-year performance gains are moot when you're jumping multiple generations.

That's why it's showing "something went wrong". I hope Paybright and Apple will be well prepared next time. It was a huge disappointment.

Ahhh, it all makes sense now. Ah well. I actually had another order that I paid in full on my card before I remembered financing was an option – you don't get the financing option if you're ordering on the education site – so I'll just let that one go through and ignore the paybright one. Once @jasonefmonk verified you can't pay on Paybright with AMEX it stopped being an option for me, anyway.

Pulling up my order status page on the Apple Store currently shows my deliveries for both devices as September 24th. Hoping this holds true because some of you folks have reported bad news after waiting for PayBright.

The plot thickens. I called Apple to ask about the error I get trying to click through Paybright to pay and the CSR said it's a known issue and the whole part of that system is down. She said there's a nine-hour grace period to submit payment before the order is outright cancelled and according to her the delivery date you saw when you processed the order the first time around will hold until it's paid.

[tl;dr] She said I should try again on the site in a few hours and I should be able to jump to Paybright from the existing link in my order history *and* maintain the September 24th ship date.

Similar here. As most of you are experiencing, I also can't get into PayBright and make a payment. The CSR rep did say they are aware of the technical issues, and so if we received a confirmation and it states a delivery date, that date should hold, even if we haven't paid on PayBright yet. With that said, the order may be cancelled sometime today if we don't make the payment. Lastly, they said they're working on it and it's best to check in 2-4 hours.

Very strange they’re saying original orders will go through with the original date. I finally got a new order to go through but nearly a month before it ships. It said on the page ship date would be finalized upon payment completion, didn’t sound like there was any guarantee of having the ship date provided initially.

“Once we receive your payment, we’ll notify you with an updated delivery date.” is what I had in my email, like you say it wasn’t encouraging. So far the delivery date has held as September 24th for two devices, even after the initial two hour delay due to PayBright.

... You're right it's not a huge difference, just looking to save a few bucks.... wish us Canadians got the same financial perks as Americans have.
Not to mention Apple's exchange rate! Right now an iPhone 12 starts at $799 USD vs $1129 CAD. It should be $1015 CAD at today's rate.
Well, it would seem that if you buy in the USA that you would 'save' some of the shipping, handling and customs brokerage added (that brings that price to C$1129); enough for a hotel night or a couple of nice meals. Canadian and provincial sales taxes may be less also when you come back over the border. I don't know if Canada Customs duty is applied on an iPhone. I wonder if you were to have any problems with the phone, whether you need return it to the USA to claim a repair? I purchased a TV in the USA and was cautioned about having to return it to the USA for repair should that ever be necessary. That aside, it is perhaps worth the trip, especially if you are not travelling specifically to buy an iPhone.

I hop between Canada and the U.S. due to work (I’m only able to be in Canada right now because I can work remotely, for now..) Having bought many Apple products in both countries, I’ve never had warranty trouble.

Updating what I wrote earlier, I just now read, "Aside from state tax (depending which state you visited), you will have to pay GST/PST if you choose to declare your iPhone to the Canada Customs. There is NO duty on the iPhone, contrary to what you might read online."

Just received an email with a checkout link from PayBright, check your emails if you are still having any issues!
Due to an issue this morning, you may have been unable to complete your application and may have multiple orders with Apple. There are a few steps you will need to take to finalize your order for processing and shipment. Rest assured, your original estimated delivery date will remain the same if your application is completed within 5 hours of this notification. If you have already completed your loan application, please disregard this email.

Emphasis mine. Get in there quick!

Paybright just sent an email to complete the payment again, but I already did in the morning. Weird.
Called Apple and they said they have already received it and Paybright also sent me the contract documents right after I ordered this morning.

Just paid on paybright! The good news is Apple will honour the original delivery date. Even though I had trouble with Paybright and have been trying since 8 AM, they will deliver on the 24th!

Order in at 8:05am, payment link expired just over an hour later. I tried until 11:30am until I was able to get an order through. So this doesn’t help anyone who kept trying and ended up with a month delay. No one told me it would be fixed by Apple/PayBright in the morning, I was just told they couldn’t do anything about it.

What about canceling the second order?

My order is at "Processing" since this morning. Is it normal?
I placed my pre-order pretty much when it opened up and mine is still at the "Order placed" stage. Nothing has been charged to my credit card yet.

Is yours for in store pickup by any chance? Mine is the same
Yup, instore pickup. Maybe the instore pickups are processed at a later time than the delivery orders? Good to know I'm not the only one at the same stage either though!
