Does a GitHub Patch exist for CUDA ? Not for the WebDrivers - just for CUDA..

Currently running 10.12.6 w the following working working setup -

CUDA Driver Version: 9.0.197
GPU Driver Version: 10.18.5 (378.05.05.25f19)

But it's not recognised by Cinema or Octane. The only solution I can think of is trying various CUDA drivers, one that are more recent than 0.0.197 which work with 378.05.05.25f19 .. have already tried the various scripts above without luck.

The last version of CUDA for macOS was ver-10.2.xx

I had indicated this in my reply earlier, probably got buried in the heap. Here it is again:

That's what we legacy GeForce GPU owners might expect, however, in their grand scheme of things, I sincerely doubt we matter to the NVidia teams ever since Apple and NVidia parted ways with the introduction of Metal in OSX 10.14.x

The last update we received was 2020.11.17 for MACOS DRIVER RELEASE 387.10.10.10.40.140 here: https://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/167083/

The corresponding last update for CUDA was with release of the CUDA toolkit ver10.2.89 here: https://developer.download.nvidia.com/compute/cuda/10.2/Prod/local_installers/cuda_10.2.89_mac.dmg

The CUDA toolkit (2.5GB) ver10.2.89 also contains the last supported CUDA driver (you can uncheck all other tools during the installation process to install just that driver alone)

See if this work for you.

Thanks, Ashok.

Are you saying the developer version will install ? Because the problem has been that .DMG files won't allow me to expand or install the more recent versions of Cuda - they just quit and say move .pkg to trash - not sure why but won't even allow to expand the files. That's why I was hoping there was a patch to make em work

@Ashok.Vardhan Just tried.. receiving attached message.

Actually, I used right click to view package contents and installed via terminal. That worked and updated the Cuda.. but its still not detecting the GPU in C4D Octane.. @Ashok.Vardhan Are you running a similar setup? I can see you have a Titan X + Mac Pro also

I managed to reinstall CUDA drivers by using the following commands in terminal on the CUDAMacOSXInstaller.app file:

sudo spctl --master-disable
sudo codesign --force --deep --sign - /Users/AshokVardhan/Desktop/CUDAMacOSXInstaller.app
xattr -cr /Users/AshokVardhan/Desktop/CUDAMacOSXInstaller.app

Unfortunately, that only worked to get the drivers installed, eventually they were rendered unuseable because of certificate validation.

I guess I have to run that script, or use the CUDA driver shared by NVidia by one of the earlier commentators in the posts above.

@Ashok.Vardhan Are they working with Cinema 4D & Octane?! Are those apps recognising the GPU’s?! I’ve tried the various Cudas from 8-10 + the Web Drivers and its still not recognising the GPU in Cinema 4d.

I am afraid I cannot comment or give feedback on those applications, as I do not have them installed or running on my setup. I am primarily using Premiere Pro, Photoshop and DaVinci resolve only. For editing footage. Hardly use motion graphics so cannot say.

I am still having no luck with the drivers (both GPU and CUDA) shared directly by NVidia.

The GPU driver seems to work, however, I am not able to use all resolutions. Furthermore, display is patchy and lagging. I am still testing out.

Bear in mind I have not used the script solution suggested in this thread. I am trying to see if the solution NVidia provided will work because I am on the same OS build and install as the original poster who shared the Google Drive link.

So far only limited use-ability.

I'll report back tomorrow if they ever fail....so I can then test the new driver they sent, and see if it actually works.

I can confirm the new driver does indeed fix the revoking of being launched to be installed at least.
Will report back if I can get my system to lock me out again...

Please post, if anyone has any success with these new drivers on a system that is currently revoked....

How did you fare?

I tried the new drivers on my system which has the same macOS version installed that you have to get my Titan-X recognized.

Drivers installed, show up in System Information, GPU gets correctly identified and detected.

However, not useable. I am unable to view in resolutions higher than 1920x1080 at 60Hz. The menu bar is black and the words on it are in light grey. Something definitely not working.

Each time I change the display settings when using the Titan-X as the main GPU, the system does a blackout and gets logged out.

I also have my old mac EFI flashed ATI Radeon HD 5770, so when I connect the display to that I can see that system waiting at User login point, even though I have enabled auto-login and was logged in when outputting from the NVidia GPU.

Anyone else have success with the NVidia provided drivers (CUDA and GPU) without having to run the script?

Are you sure you have the CUDA-version matching your WebDriver? Not any CUDA driver works with any version of the WebDrivers. I. e. latest CUDA version 418.163 is not compatible with the 387.10.10.15.15.108-driver-package. Latest for this is 418.105. So, if you have an older WebDriver package and try to use the latest CUDA driver, it will likely not work. This is not a "revoked certificate"-problem.

I would try it on a new, clean installed system on another drive, to rule out some weird bug hiding in your current system.
or
try uninstalling the NVidia driver and reinstalling it again.

I still can’t get my other system to revoke the certificate...and get in a state where I can test it out... It’s so weird... I’m about To try it out on a clean system now...still setting it up...will report back...

I still can’t get my other system to revoke the certificate
SysPolicy runs at intervals which can be up to 3 days I gather but I suspect Apple may have revoked the revocation so to speak.

If correct, anyone that never got revoked (Machine was off, OCSP was blocked, whatever) would never get the issue but anyone that did, and has this in their system, would need a fixed version. This may be why the fixed one does not change the version number to keep the numbers aligned.

Just wild speculation though.

EDIT: On the flip side, the default cache freshness duration is 10 days and if within that period, it may simply not be picking up the revocation status. Fresh cache entries are not updated on every check.

So, if you have an older WebDriver package and try to use the latest CUDA driver, it will likely not work. This is not a "revoked certificate"-problem.

It has been so long since I had to update CUDA and GPU drivers in tandem that I forgot that not all CUDA drivers work with any web driver version.

My last combination was: GPU 387.10.10.10.40.140 & CUDA 10.2.89 from the CUDA developer's toolkit. This worked till June, 2022.

I tried the combo FullerFun shared with us all, earlier in this thread: GPU 387.10.10.10.40.140 & CUDA 418.163 and that did not work in my pre-existing installation.

Tried FullerFun's combo on a clean install, like he suggested, and it worked perfectly well. Connected to the web, browsed a bit, signed out of Apple-ID, signed back in, connected to App Store, played around a bit with checking for updates and the likes--which will force connections to Apple servers--still working. Restarted and checked. Reconnected to App store, checked for updates. Still working.

So it does appear that some traces of the old drivers is giving issues when uninstalling old "revoked" certificate drivers and re-installing the NVidia's updated drivers with new certificates shared earlier.

Atleast one hurdle crossed for us lot.

I will try updating CUDA to 10.2.89 and see what happens. Unfortunately, as I expected, it did not work. Certificate is revoked even for the CUDA 10.2.89 CUDA toolkit CUDA driver installer. Preference Pane does not open, is stuck in a loop.

Will uninstall CUDA 10.2.89 and reinstall CUDA 418.163 and report back. **UPDATE** Working fine.

Those of us wanting to completely remove CUDA from their system. Refer to the "uninstall" notes, which are contained in the "installation guide" for your respective version in the archive here: https://developer.nvidia.com/cuda-toolkit-archive

For example, for version 10.2 this is the link: https://docs.nvidia.com/cuda/archive/10.2/cuda-installation-guide-mac-os-x/index.html#uninstall

or this method:

Will try these steps with my pre-existing fully loaded macOS installation. **UPDATE** Not working. Glitchy display.

Hi all, and a big thank you for this thread. My Mac stopped recognising my drivers yesterday and I have been reading through the thread with great interest.

I am not a programming type and get frightened to look at terminal. So was glad to see the driver download in post #602. I downloaded and tried to install but it states my software is not the right version even though it is 10.13.6 but it is build version (17G14019) not (17G14042).

How do I go about upgrading it for these new drivers to work? My system says it is up to date.

All advice greatly received. Lee

will this do it?.. this does not seem to want to install. disk does not meet requirements

Download all the security updates from 2020: 06, 05, 04, 03 and 01. Try them in reverse (i.e. 06 first, then 05, then 04...) and see which one works. Once that installation finishes try the next higher version to update till you reach 06. 06 was the last release, after which updates stopped for High Sierra.

Yes, this should work as these both are the latest official releases. At least (and only!) with OS updated to the latest security update state 17G14042.

05 is a cumulative update. That is all, which is needed and later 06.

I am unable to get this combo to work on a pre-existing install, that is fully loaded with applications and preferences.

No matter what method of uninstallation I have tried so far: included uninstaller, manual removal, terminal commands, etc. The GPU 387.10.10.10.40.140 & CUDA 418.163 combo from NVidia is not working optimally.

I am at a loss on how to save my current installation, without having to go through the trouble of starting from scratch or running the script.

I contacted NVidia on June 9th. Got a response back today, June 14th.
Amazingly! They sent me a driver to try today. The same one 2 other people reported getting from them last week.
So, go ahead try this and/or contact them directly yourself if you'd like.

They sent me a new driver for 10.13.6 (17G14042) (all latest security updates installed)
387.10.10.10.40.140
This is the driver they sent:

This is how I contacted them.
I contacted them at https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/ask
Signed in.
Product: Selected GeForce
Install/Uninstall
Put in my exact card
driver 387.10.10.10.40.140

FOr Question, I asked them to please send me a driver that doesn't have it's certificate revoked at apple's servers at ocsp.apple.com
I referenced the exact link to the driver. And also, page 16 of this thread where a couple people reported getting a driver directly from them.
----
So, I had a different 10.13.6 system that was not essential to me at the moment, so I unblocked trustd & ocspd in little snitch on that system and let it connect. (I did not run the latest script that was developed by Dayo on this system..used earlier method)
I restarted.
Of course, the frigging old drivers are still working....

Thanks mate install what you put and everything works again Gtx 1050 Ti High Sierra.

To 1: We tried to find a solution for "Low" Sierra by locking a different set of folders. Dayo should have implemented it in his script. Give it a try and report to eventually help others.

To 2: Do not update. Try Dayo's script. It is not bound to a particular version of CUDA. Although there might be small differences in trustd's implementation for different subversions of Sierra. The info about which folders to lock to break trustd was taken from the latest version of Sierra (10.12.6). I'd still give the script a try and test if it works for you.

To 3: I am not sure if a different package could ever be re-signed with a new certificate, if there is no access to NVIDIA's development resources. IMHO the possibility of re-signing new packages by anyone should break the principles of software security of signed code. But maybe we have some experts around us to comment more on that?

To 4: Since information that new drivers were out there was hidden from some users active in this thread, I am sorry but at least I am not willing to invest more time.

Software removal is not necessary. Just install the new software.
I immediately wrote that I had a driver, but an Nvidia employee asked me not to send it to third parties, otherwise he would not have sent me the access code to the folder on the file sharing service, you know, I thought they directly answered me on the topic (in Nvidia development forum) with Volta support, but it turned out this is the last re-signed driver.

You did a great job, and thank you, please don't be offended by me and other users, but specifically I was asked not to forward it as they are working on a new driver.

I think I would be passing that driver on to those who need it, who might be suffering work wise with a non working Nvidia card. To many people with issue's and Apple and Nvidia don't seem to care. Nvidia had drivers ready for Mojave but were blocked by apple. If you have a working driver that might help many who are struggling post it up.
