EDGE on other devices is working great, according to HoFo posters. This is an iPhone only problem.

PLEASE CALL AT&T TO COMPLAIN. If we all call AT&T, hopefully they'll realize this is a big issue. Needs to be fixed.

Same thing in Salt Lake City, Utah. Glad to see that others are having the same problem, I was afraid my iPhone might have broken. Strange that there would be a nationwide outage though.

Just got done with a live chat with AT&T -- they are aware of it, it is a nationwide problem, and it is NOT just iPhone users (recent Howard Forums posts prove this to be true), but they said it is intermittent so some people may be getting connectivity while others may not.

In any case, they said they expect it to be up shortly. Glad I'd finished showing off the phone to folks at work before this happened.

Oy. I went to my local Apple Store specifically to try out the iPhone and check EDGE speeds. I turned off Wi-Fi, but couldn't load anything via EDGE. The Specialist said that it was due to low signal in the store, which I found odd since it looked like both the iPhone and my own phone (Sprint) had very strong signal, as would be expected in a large shopping mall.

So, apparently add San Francisco to the list.

I was telling a friend in Dallas that we'd killed edge, he laughed then saw his trio was locked-up too :D

He's in Dallas and said edge just came back for him (Not yet here in H-Town)

same issue

In Tucson here, activated phone on Sunday, Edge worked just fine.
Monday morning cannot connect to any EDGE servers.
Have the same issue, full strength, E icon and no connection.
Just got off the phone with AT&T and they said "its and apple issue, you must contact iPhone support line"
On hold as we speak, will update if anything good comes of it.....

AT&T Reports EDGE/GPRS NETWORKS DOWN

Around 30 minutes ago I lost EDGE connectivity in all relevant iPhone applications. I contacted AT&T Wireless and spoke with technical support.

They are informing me that there is a system-wide outage first reported at 1556 GMT in which EDGE and GPRS are being reported down. At first she mentioned several states including north Texas where I live (Plano, specifically) but then she said the issue has been escalated in all 50 states.

AT&T Wireless has no Estimated Time to Resolution on the issue.

Can anyone else confirm?

Edge is still mostly down for me in Dallas, but, strangely enough, I got emails when it polled a few minutes ago. I still can't browse the web, update weather, etc., but the email pull seems to be ok (no wifi here so it's not using that as an alternate).

PA here and EDGE seems to be in the process of going down. It is running really slow and it is very patchy.

Down on Orange County CA

That was one of the locations they specifically mentioned. Sounds like this is for real.

Way to go AT&T... way to screw up one of the biggest product launches in your entire history.

UPDATE: My pending outbox just sent messages here in Plano, TX, but still unable to surf web... Not sure why SMTP traffic would work and not HTML if the issue is a transport one and not a firewall one.
