Can't get on EDGE network! ("Could not activate EDGE")

Glitches happen... they just like sextupled their network throughput with a huge under-wraps secret expansion that only got fully rolled out and turned on the day before a massive influx of what could be 600,000+ new subscribers in 48 hours or less. And now it's Monday, so people are using the web even more and it's also peak time and also lunch. This WOULD be the time for it to go down.

Relax. It happens. You'll be able to call in and get like a $1-5 credit or something for the prorated day of interrupted service. Remember, you only pay $20 per month for fully unlimited internet... even a whole day of outage is less than $1, though potentially a few bucks worth of inconvenience. :)
 
I am ok here in NE PA...BUT I STILL can not send email from my yahoo account. nothing hits my sent items or outbox..i hit send and the progress bar goes and thats it...thats it. cant figure it out! it was fine up until 8PM last night.
 
I suppose I should add that, while not down yet, my EDGE has felt a bit slower today. When running the DSLReports SpeedTest, I was consistently getting 175-200 kb/sec yesterday.

I ran it a bit ago (albeit in a different location, still full bars though) and I got only about 50 kb/sec.

Interesting. Hope this gets straightened out if there is indeed a problem.

I'm in Minneapolis too. Just tried to check my email and no go on EDGE. I guess I could just use the computer I'm sitting right in front of...BUT I WANT TO USE MY NEW IPHONE!

Am I the only one who thinks it is weird that EDGE is going down in different places all over the country? Does this regularly happen with AT&T?

I wouldnt say regularly but it has happened before, a few times in the years ive used it, but not normally though, pretty reliable.

For all we know guys they could be upgrading the network with higher speeds like some cities have reported.
 
I was wondering if it was just me, but I just stumbled across this thread and I see that apparently it is not. I'm in Dallas and have not been able to access the internet via EDGE for almost 2 hours now.
 
Not working in Toledo, Ohio either.

From the posts I've seen on HF, it seems to be affecting all AT&T devices except Blackberrys, which use different servers. Some posts even said that their 3G data has been interrupted as well.
 
No Edge or Wi-Fi

I'm just south of Seattle. No Edge service or Wi-Fi. My Macbook is working fine on my home DSL, but my 8gb iPhone can't load maps, stocks, weather. Instant messaging is fine.
 
Possible Fix

FYI, (following a post on Cingular) I turned off my wi-fi (under settings) tried to browse,and it worked even though it didn't work moments before.
 
ATT Nationwide Outage

AT&T Ticket Number TT4927083. This AM they expected to have resolved around 3:00 PST..... perhaps a half a million iPhones moved off of WiFi and hit the Edge network on Monday.... ?

Just another ATT "issue"

Can't handle activation, and can't handle data. My bet is that Jobs is on the Phone with ATT right now. We need some love here, like some $$$ or credits for our misery !
 
Down in St. Louis, MO. I was trying to show the phone off, top. How annoying. Oh well.
