Beta 3 Broke my Carplay in my 2016 Silverado (Mylink)

I can see the Projection button go green for Car Play and push it but nothing happens. Music still plays but display wont come up. Also the iPhone screen constantly turns on and off with every bump and turn.

Beta 3 version does not work in either my Ford 150 with Sync 3 and our Lincoln Nautilus with Sync 3.

Beta 3 on my Xr broke CarPlay in my Jeep Renegade Uconnect and with the Sony XAV-AXX5000 installed in my Wrangler. In both cases the head unit would show the CarPlay icon, but would freeze the display when pressed, the iPhone screen would cycle between waking/sleeping (momentary flash of CarPlay banneer)....maybe the third party cables I have in each vehicle? Guess I should have tried an Apple cable before I restored to iOS 12.

Beta 3 also broke CarPlay in my 2019 Ford Ranger. I have the latest sync version. Beta 2 was quirky on both my Ranger and my wife’s 2018 Lexus NX(just got the Lexus update the enables CarPlay). Going to try the Bluetooth delete to see if that works.

Edit - Bluetooth deleted didn't work

Beta 3 completely broke CarPlay on my Mercedes GLE 360
Same here. CarPlay worked fine on beta 2 but all I get is a black screen on my VW with beta 3. Annoying since I delayed going out of town 45 minutes while I updated then got stuck with no CarPlay on a long trip.

I have this same issue with my 2019 GMC Acadia. The CarPlay green projection comes on and all the apps on my iPhone XS work and go thru my car speakers. However if I tap the CarPlay app it beeps but does nothing. Also I was on a phone call and the screen on my iPhone kept flashing off and then on every 15 seconds or so.

Beta 3 CarPlay is a crapshoot, at best... It works perfectly on wife's Ford Edge (Sync 3) ... no issues at all.

In my Mazda (MX-5) with an aftermarket head unit (Alpine ILX-107), it worked great the first time I tried it after the update. Then for the next 2 days the head unit would report that CarPlay was connected, but all I got was a blank screen - no home screen ever appeared. Then, suddenly yesterday morning, it connected fine - home screen appeared, exactly as it did the very first time... but Spotify did not display the correct information, Waze, Google Maps and Apple Maps all had their various issue with map display (none of the maps actually moved/updated as I drove - the map location stayed where it was when I switched to that map app) ... and the touch screen was incredibly unresponsive... I saw the same results whether I was connected via lightning cable, or connected wirelessly.

Hopefully beta 4 will fix it all... but this is exactly what one gets running the betas... clearly a work in progress.

Not sure if its just me but since updating to beta 2 Carplay is all but broken. Im aware that this is a beta just wondering if im the only one experiencing this or if there are any workarounds others have found to resolve this.

Essentially when I plug it in my Mazda recognizes it as carplay but then after a few seconds, it tells me that carplay has crashed. It happens most of the time unless i restart my phone and then plug it in. Im almost wondering if spotify is causing it because it seems more often than not that Spotify tries to autoplay when carplay is connected.

I have a Dodge with the Uconnect and have this exact issue. Beta 1 was perfect. Now I have to reboot the phone for it to work! Lol.

Exact same thing here! 2019 Dodge Charger 392.

Public Beta for me, CarPlay is hit or miss (mostly miss) with 2019 Jeep Cherokee UCONNECT. At first I thought I figured out a pattern to get it to work all the time, but that pattern is now failing as well. I will try removing the UCONNECT from Bluetooth. I wish I could change the name in Bluetooth, I have two uconnect vehicles, both say "uconnect" on the phone. Which is which...lol

A user over on the iOS 13 Beta 3 thread posted a fix that seems to be working for a lot of users (particularly those with GM vehicles): turn off Bold Text in your Display & Brightness controls in Settings.

Hope this helps some of you.

UCONNECT is the worst...beta or not...I avoid it at all cost now when renting cars.

So I found the answer to my CarPlay issue. Turning off Bold Text has fixed CarPlay on both my vehicles' head units (UConnet and Sony).

I'm finding CarPlay to be inconsistent. In beta 2 the new album art style with the blurred image in the background with a full color tile to the right of the title worked in both my 2019 RAV4 with an 8" screen and my 2019 Hyundai Kona with a 7" screen. Now in beta 3 the full color title to the right of the title doesn't show in my RAV4 - it's back to the usual blurred art in the background. The Kona screen, however does show the full color tile tile, despite being a smaller screen.

I can confirm. I had issues with black screen since beta 3 and turning off bold text was the fix. Just tried it.

Good to hear, snazzy though MBUX is I still prefer CarPlay. (2019 a-class)
I’ve been using CarPlay for years, but since picking up the GLE I’ve been using the Nav in the car since the augmented reality is cool and the huge screens. Currently, I’m using CarPlay for everything else.

The issue I have right now is that CarPlay doesn’t utilize the whole screen. I’m hoping when MB does an MBUX update it will address it.
