It’s awesome, we look for it whenever renting a vehicle. Quite prefer it over other crap systems.

For me, it starts CarPlay only half the time, I’ve always had the GPS issue where the car antenna overides CarPlay and tries to tell me I’m 1,000 miles away from where I am and takes 10 minutes to correct.

Ford Synch has always been flawless. I plug in and everything works perfectly no matter what car I get.

That’s my experience.

GM system works okay most of the time although I have to find “CarPlay” sometimes in the menu to start. It should start the moment I plug my phone in.

Range Rover was the same way. Couldn’t believe how bad that system was.

sorry but how does bold text have anything to do with carplay ?
ill try it heres hoping

mine is still down

all i can see is black screen on my infotainment screen in Honda Accord. when i plug in my Wife's iphone which is running 12.3.1, it seems to be working fine!

Beta 3 works perfectly in my Honda.

which Honda do you have?

I’ve encountered some issues with CarPlay with the latest re-release of Beta 3 (Public Beta 2) on my iPhone Xs connected to my Honda Civic Hatchback 2018. Overcast would randomly crash and once the entire phone re-sprung and disconnected CarPlay.

I’ve reported it via Feedback.app. Hopefully the next beta fixes these CarPlay issues!

dang turning off the Bold Text in display settings really fixed both our Sync 3 CarPlay issue of not running!

The CarPlay screen is basically a display device for the phone. There’s something about bold text that affects the way the screen is rendered. Still not working consistently on my Alpine head unit.

i dont even have bold text enabled!!

So I found the answer to my CarPlay issue. Turning off Bold Text has fixed CarPlay on both my vehicles' head units (UConnet and Sony).
Turn off bold text? on the iphone? Also, as someone stated, removing all bluetooth phones from uconnect system didn’t help.

I also found that the Map on widget it flaky. Some times it keeps the arrow center and the map moves. Other times the map stays stationary and the arrow moves, to a point that you have no clue where you are. hhmm.

UCONNECT is the worst...beta or not...I avoid it at all cost now when renting cars.
iOS never had issues with UConnect. I have been using UConnect for 6 years in 2 different vehicles, had no issues until I joined the public beta. Not sure what problems you have had with UConnect.

I'm having much more success in the new beta. It still seems to behave the same way buy it keeps trying to reconnect instead of just bailing until you disconnect and reconnect.

somewhat related. Don't you have to pair with bluetooth to get the "parked car" locations marked?

I dont use that feature. But one time I really needed it. The chevy app will find your car if you subscribe to Onstar.

Free vs $20/month. Let me think about that.

I honestly didn't even know onstar was still around. In a world with smart phones, I am stunned they have subscribers. It is probably a lot like sirus XM. They have a deal with car manufactures and hope people keep the service after the trial.

Carplay was crashing for me in the first PB, but doesn't seem to be crashing any longer in PB2.. I have an app updating issue randomly, so I reboot my phone at least every day so this may be why I'm not experiencing any issues so far.

OnStar provides more than just crash assistance. If my car is stolen, OnStar can remotely track and disable it, amongst some other features.
