I honestly didn't even know onstar was still around. In a world with smart phones, I am stunned they have subscribers. It is probably a lot like sirus XM. They have a deal with car manufactures and hope people keep the service after the trial.

Yeah, there are people... I could go on a rant here, but it would take us way off topic.

My CarPlay works really well on DP3 in my wife's Ford Edge (Sync3). Not so much on my Alpine ILX-107... still hoping for a better experience with DP4, hopefully next week.

OnStar is not a substitute for smart phones. If you’re in a crash and unconscious, it’s a lot more valuable. Plus if your car is stolen, it can help retrieve it.

For what its worth Onstar in the UK is being discontinued at the end of 2020 as Vauxhall will no longer be part of GM and come under PSA instead. Means there are going to be a lot of Vauxhalls knocking about with Onstar buttons that will be useless unless they come up with a way of integrating a PSA alternative into these cars.

That said i used it for the one year free trial on my Vauxhall but then never bothered signing up once i had to pay as its not really that cheap. I only ever used it for the handy ability to lock\unlock the car from the app and we used the wifi whilst on holiday in France but that was it. For nearly £100 for the year or £9 a month i didnt think it was worth it.

Upgraded to IOS 13. Beta 2 (17A5522g) MINI Cooper (IPHONE X), was working great with IOS 13, but once updated, it shows that its connecting on the radio, but the phone never shows the "Carplay" logo, the radio screen then goes black. All sound/Music/SIRI works, but no screen.

Turn off BOLD text. It solves this issue in most cases.

Wow, it did work, nice work around... but did notice, that the "Carplay" logo doesn't show on the iPhone when plugged in, but the head unit shows its connecting. If you select an icon, like SirusXM it pulls up on the head unit with blank fields, but the iPhone shows no actions, so you have to open the app on the iPhone to get it show correctly on the head unit . That I can deal with until they get it fixed. Thanks again!

Having same issue on my Ford Fusion Titanium with Sync 3 -- it'll say it's connected but the interface won't load.
Guess that's what "we" get and the risk "we" take - installing betas. Downloading Beta 4 Dev version now - and will report back.

2016 Chevy Camaro here. Works 99% fine for me. For some reason Siri gives an error message whenever i try to have it read a new text message.

Public Beta 1, CarPlay was broken for me, but Public Beta 2 and Beta 3, Car Play is now working in 2019 Jeep Cherokee UConnect. However, the Map on the widget page some times works, some times doesn't. I think it doesn't work correctly when the iPhone is predicting where are going a Home/Work and you choose not use navigation suggestion to get there. If you close out the suggestion in the Map screen and then go back to the widget screen, the map stays stationary and your location arrow moves, to a point it is off the screen. However, this doesn't seem to happen, if iPhone doesn't predicted where you are going. Just my observation so far with the new Widget screen.

I only got to try it in a rental car for a couple of days last week, but since most of the Maps function is not even available in the dashboard/tiled view, I think the thought is that you start with the main view for navigation options and such and only switch to dashboard/tiled view once you have a route selected.

New car coming tomorrow! So, I'll have CarPlay to try out on a regular basis now. Can't wait.

Still having intermittent issues with Waze showing a white screen. The other maps (Apple/Google) don't seem to have the issue, so I'm guessing it's related to the Waze app, itself. I also got an update last night for Waze, but haven't been on the car to test since.

Other issues that I've been seeing from time to time is that neither Spotify nor Now Playing want to show the "now playing" screen with the requisite controls. More testing to come, but I have reported it to Apple as an bug.

Otherwise, the issues that I had with CarPlay and my Alpine ILX-107 head unit seem to have largely settled down.
