I have used the Felix Flipbook Air for the past couple/few months for my Air 1, and I just ordered the updated one for my new Air 2. Absolutely love the styling and versatility of this case. Very professional for board room environments, minimalistic yet functional. Probably not the best case for those that need maximum protection, but if you use your iPad mostly in office/professional settings, then give this a look.

Will do. I will post some pictures. I hated the huge lip on the Smart Case. This seems much better. Lets see...

Also if it has magnets behind the cover where if you fold it back it sticks to the case.

Thanks!

Lol I know! Am I crazy? I love rubbery looking stuff.

BTW, I had a reply from the seller "Onix Electronics" and they told me the carbon fiber ones are on back-order until Friday next week.

I found this also for the Ipad Air. I think for the price it's worth it a try :)

Here for the iPad Mini so I hope it's the same for the Air 2

The ones from Onix are not carbon fiber. Though they have "Carbon Fiber" in the name, a full examination of the Amazon listing indicates there is no Carbon Fiber in the case. I bought the similar item for the Air Pad 1 and it fell apart in a few months.

Well it's obvious it was carbon fiber imitation which it looks good IMO.

I ordered the black one anyway. Let's see how it goes :)

Hopefully yours will not fall apart as soon as mine did. IMHO advertising something as carbon fiber when it is really a "carbon fiber look" is a sham.

When you have the front folded back, do the magnets hold it in place? Or do you have to hold it manually?

Since getting my iPad 3 in 2012 I have been using a simple Marware back shell that is coated in a black rubber paint and is very thin. I like a very slim design and a very quick-to-remove Smart Cover setup.

Does anyone know of something similar for the iPad Air 2? Mine is being delivered next week and I need some protection quickly. It appears Apple no longer makes a smart cover that is leather and I'm not sure if any back shells exist that fit the iPad Air 2 perfectly.

It's been bugging me for days. There was/is a specific name for cases that are smart cover compatible... but darned if I remember what it is! Do you remember?

The one I have owned for 3+ years for my iPad 4G LTE Retina was called the Marware Microshell:

There are 4 types of iPad cases in the aftermarket:

1. Shell + Case (attached)
2. Shell w/Smart Cover compatibility (magnetic)
3. Shell w/Smart Cover compatibility (entrapment)
4. Shell w/o Smart Cover compatibility (no opening)

So far for the iPad Air 2 we've seen a bunch of #1's, no #3's, and one #4. And the only #2's have been this translucent material when I want black rubber paint.

This is a real deal breaker for me when it comes to smart covers/cases. I use landscape almost always so having the back flopping around in the way is awful and don't alway like to fold and prop it up. Let me know your findings in this case or any others. Thanks

I used to have a Devicewear Union shell that was awesome on my iPad 4, and included a magnetic strip to hold my smart cover in place (always hated that flapping around). Too bad they never made an iPad Air version, so they'll probably won't make an Air 2 version either.

I'm using just a smart cover now and noticed there's enough magnetism on the back to hold it in place, something I'll probably lose once I get a shell. Ah well. :(

I agree. In the same it really annoys me when companies advertise there cases as TPU leather when they can't be both. Either they're TPU or they're leather. It's false advertising and misleading. I wish places like Amazon and eBay would crack down on it.

Has anyone ordered and received this case yet from Kayscase?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OFQC46I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Mine supposedly shipped last Friday (10/24) from Georgia by USPS first class, and I live in Tennessee. Amazon's delivery estimate was yesterday through tomorrow, so maybe it will show up tomorrow. Seems like mighty slow shipping from a neighboring state (USPS horse and buggy?).

For anyone getting the Kayscase, let us know how it fits. I have a feeling these are still spec-ed for the iPad Air 1 which is why they're using the disclaimer, "if it doesn't fit, we'll send an 'improved' replacement at no cost!"

I will do that if it ever comes.

After spending a year negating the light weight of the Air by putting it in a case, I decided I wanted to run my Air 2 naked and really get the most out of the design and thinness.

I like the idea of the smart cover, but frankly I find the viewing angles aren't great, especially in portrait mode. I could do something like the Moshi or Roocase origami cases, but they add more bulk than I would like. Finally I decided to get a sleeve instead, and stumbled upon this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MVFGM4A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's a sleeve that can be cinched up to act as a stand. I think this is a pretty good compromise, especially for the price.

Received mine today. It's great. Perfect for what I need.

Thanks again. I would never have even looked for it. I was planning to just use a sleeve I already had and get some sort of travel stand.

Glad it worked for you! Mine is at home but I won't get it until after work. I did end up also getting a smart cover as a backup, in case I didn't want to carry a separate piece. I look forward to trying out the sleeve though, especially since the smart cover is useless in portrait mode.

My skin doesn't come in until tomorrow. I have a jelly case that was for my Air1 on it now. It's really a tight fit. I hope your Smart Cover fits in it. If it does, I doubt there will be any wiggle room.

Enjoy

Really? Interesting. The Amazon listing says it's for the Air/Air 2, and I don't think the Air 2 with the smart cover is thicker than the original Air. I guess I'll find out tonight!
