I ordered the red one through Amazon, received a shipping notice on 10/31, with a delivery date on NLT 11/7. Was notified on 11/4 that they weren't getting the red and blue versions from the manufacturer until 11/11, but if I wanted the black, they could ship that right away. Well, if I wanted the black, I would have ordered the black...

I told them I would stick with the red, if they could guarantee I received it NLT 11/13, as I am leaving on vaykay 11/14. If they couldn't, I would take the black, but wanted it NLT 11/7, which was when they originally promised the red. That seemed fair. And I asked them why I received a shipped notice on 10/31, if they didn't have anything to ship?

The response was that the shipping notice went out when they printed a label, and that they could get me the black case by 11/13. Evidently, no one knows how to read at Devicewear... I told them if they were shipping black, it needed to be here tomorrow, and they replied by saying they would not do that, but would cancel the order. I told them cool, and that they probably shouldn't print shipping labels for orders they couldn't fill.

I'll be waiting for this one to be available:

http://www.speckproducts.com/tablet-ipad-cases/ipad-air-2-cases/stylefolio-for-ipad-air-2.html

I've had the same delay on my blue ridge, pre-ordered on Amazon. They offered me a $5 refund for the extra wait though. Also had the (false) shipping notification on Monday.

The Speck does look nicer imo, despite having a functionally almost identical design. Something about the flap on the back being the same width as the whole case just makes it look cleaner and more modern. And there's more choice of color too.

I can cope with either, but I think I'm going to keep my pre-order.

I cancelled mine just based on their bad business practices. Don't send me a shipping notice when you haven't even received the first one yourself. I bought a Herschel case last week, and that will work for protection until Speck can ship me one. Good luck!

This new one looks like a mashup of the old Style- and DuraFolios.

It doesn't appear that they've added sleep/wake magnets to the cover, which the old StyleFolio also lacked.

Good point. I ended up buying the Kavaj Berlin this morning, it'll be here on Sunday. Unless KAVAJ is like Devicewear... :(

hm 50 bucks not bad...the knomo still has be tempted so cheap lol, but if this is decent leather it could be worth it. Let us know what you think when you get it.

Will do. The reviews on Amazon for the original iPad Air model are pretty good, and except for cutouts, I can't imagine this model is that much different. As it is leather, I think they could just tighten the stitches to make up for the thinner Air 2! ;)

I watched the English dubbed review on the company website, and it looks like it will work for me.

if the amazon quote is correct, it weighs almost the same as the official leather case, which is impressive (or worse if you prefer that heavy durable leather)

Yeah, a lot of the user reviews mention how light/thin the material is. That's fine with me; I don't plan on walking on it...

Update, for those of us looking for a black rubber back shell that is compatible with the iPad Air 2 Smart Cover, I've found the answer.

Ge the KHOMO case from Amazon, cut the cover off with a box cutter and that's that. No glue residue to worry about, the divot is filled with the soft grey material which is a bonus too.

Note that the black rubber back is the perfect match for the black iPad Air Smart Cover for the first iPad Air, the current black Smart Cover is grey. So if you want an all-black slim and sleek protective case for your iPad Air 2 and have the luxury of a removable magnetic cover, there you go.

Wow. That seems to work out really well.

Not sure why these early case makers are only offering attached solutions that don't work with the Smart Cover. Should mention that the back shell is hard polystyrene coated in smooth black rubber paint.

I noticed that some of the Chinese manufacturers are now selling Smart Cover compatible TPU cases.

Hopefully, it shouldn’t be too long until these start appearing on Amazon and eBay etc. At least the delay should mean they’re a good fit.

Received my Kavaj Berlin in cognac yesterday - top notch fit and finish. The on/off and volume buttons are covered and work great. Magnets in the cover for sleep work great. A wonderful case.

Nice! I'll most likely pick one up. So the quality is overall great?

I have two of them, and they're soft and floppy and loose for those who like that kind of thing.

I much prefer the thin/hard back shell with the opening to remove the Smart Cover at the magnetic hinge and right now the KHOMO with the boxcutter modification is the only option out there.

I had one which was exactly like the Fintie Smart Partner Softgel Cover for my original Air and it was very good.

The coverage over the speakers was similar to the Smart Case, a series of holes rather than a large cut-out, which meant it wasn’t a loose fit at all.

I own the Kayscase TPU for the Air 2, got it last week, and it's the 'hardest' of all the soft TPU cases currently available and it's gummy on the sides and loose at the bottom. It's a great case for those who like that sort of soft/pliable construction. I didn't like the look of the thick milky plastic lip around the front screen. I prefer a hard caseback with a soft-touch rubber painted finish and a minimal lip, so I'm retiring the Kayscase to the backup drawer.

Can you post some photos of the case. I'm wondering what the leather looks like, cuz it isn't always what's pictured on the amazon pictures.

I think the issue lies with the design of the individual cases, rather than the type of material used.

There have been some excellent quality Smart Cover compatible TPU cases released for previous iPads, such as the Tech21 Impact Base case.

Personally, I prefer the TPU cases because I have a matte body skin on my iPad, for when I want to use it without a case. The TPU cases are flexible enough to accommodate this, but I can understand why others would prefer the hard cases.

I just saw a new Invellop one was released on Amazon and I ordered it. I have a similar one for my rMini and its my favorite case. I will post some pictures when it arrives...
