You’re definitely wrong, my 12.9 functions 100% fine with a glass screen protector, it definitely doesn’t have any of the conductivity issues the 11” has, in my extensive testing with both which I own. Literally my 12.9 is perfect with a screen protector. No issues like the 11”.

Which one do you have?

I think it depends more on your level of OCD and how clean you like to keep devices. Cause they definitely will scratch over time careful or not, it’s common sense.
I respect your opinion, but you should read all the posts in this thread GhostOfOptimo.
11" iPads are NOT the only ones affected, the 12.9" are, and all 5 I have owned (bought from differing locations) had the same issues, I am glad yours does not but it's a problem many are facing.
for kicks here's a review of one person saying their 12.9 has input issues...

As an Amazon Associate, MacRumors earns a commission from qualifying purchases made through links in this post.
Created an acct just for this thread. From it, I decided to purchase a MediaDevil. Zagg was out of stock everywhere I looked, and MD was out of stock on Amazon so I ended up ordering one directly from their website on December 3rd.

Hopefully it gets here soon (it's shipping to the US), I'm quite anxious without a screen protector. I had amFilm on my iPP 10.5, but since they didn't sell one (at least, last week when I was looking) for the iPP 11, Google led me here during my search for a new one.

Thanks to everyone who's been contributing to this with your feedback about the various products you've tried and tested. It's a very informational thread!

Just received my 11” 512GB LTE from B&H. Unfortunately it was bent and went back. It was bent longitudally along the long axis so when I laid it flat, screen down, the middle was raised maybe 1.5-2mm. Unsure if I’ll go 11 or 12.9 or stick with my 10.5. I’m pissed about the 3.5mm jack removal and 3.5mm dongle/wifi issues.

Have a MediaDevil screen on the way for both iPad Pro sizes. Thinking about it, ppl are probably having touch sensitivity issues w glass protectors because they’re too rigid to accommodate the slight radius and doesn’t sit flat.

MediaDevil can accommodate the bend because it’s stiifer than a full on film but more flexible than glass, so it adheres fully.

After the slight disappointment of yesterday I got great news this morning from Mediadevil customer service.
They responded almost instantly this morning.
Mediadevil customer service apologized for the mistake and will send me a new protector with express shipping. After this great news I received another email from DHL my order will arrive tomorrow. And a third email with some explanation why things probably went wrong.
So a mistake can be made (probably the busiest time of the year), the solution they offered is very neat.
Would absolutely recommend them, mainly because they care about there customers.

zags's new iPad Pro glass isn't sold out, it hasn't been released yet. I don't know why they're lying and claiming its been selling.

I want to know about this too. How long has yours been in Aus? Customs check etc usually take a few days, have you tried calling aus post(assuming they take over shipment in Aus)? Sometimes they know stuff(like where it’s scanned and if it has passed through customs) even though it says untrackable on their site.

I ordered mine on 30/11 and now waiting, it seems it had just been scanned in Australia yesterday (10/12).

Mine was scanned here in Aus on 29/11, might try calling AusPost but I don't like my chances of them knowing anything.
I guess it'll just take a while at this time of year.

Nope. I suppose if you are irresponsible with your devices or just throw your iPad across the room, I can see why a screem protector is warranted.

Look there are not phones, the chances of scratching the screen (if taken care of respectively) is slim.
I draw and take notes on mine, so the chance I’m going to scratch the screen is a lot higher than on my phone. Then again, I don’t toss my phone in a bag with my keys, I keep it in a sleeve.

Zagg released theirs about 3-weeks ago but I pointed out the cutout covering the microphone to the associate who was quite nervous as she said a recall was going to happen and it was going to suck. Plus, I’m sure they had returns from it being not good with input so I’m betting they’ll take their time on the next batch.

I picked my screen protector for the 12.9 from the ATT store but I paid $60 at store and then ordered one for the 11" from their site for half price so check https://www.bodyguardz.com/ first, they are pricey but they are good quality, very clear and no issues at all on my 12.9 - I'm returning my 11" today because I just couldn't find a screen protector that makes it work without issues.

The 12.9 is def issue-free compared to my 11" which needs a hand constantly touching side of bezel in order to make sure all gestures are recognized, no conductivity issue at all on my 12.9. Let me know if you end up ordering and you also have no issues.
Thank you so much mate. :)

My MD protector showed up about 30 mins ago and is now installed on my IPP.

It's quite easy to install and feels great on.

I've given it a bit of a workout with the MD on and no issue so far with either Face ID or touch sensitivity.

This description was very much my own experience - I had the Tethys on my 12.9, I had the same “double tap” issue, and it seemed to be only in game as well. I didn’t notice scrolling or tapping issues in other applications.
I finally had to take it off because it was interfering too much and screwing up some of my (COC) attacks. I have a mediadevil on its way, so hopefully it will be better.

I received and installed my mediadevil yesterday. I used the “hinge method in a steamy bathroom” and am satisfied with the install. And I’m happy to report that the in game double taps have disappeared!

I agree with what others have said in that the feel isn’t as slick as glass, but it’s pretty much like the naked screen (I tested the naked iPad for a bit before installing the mediadevil to make sure the problem was the Tethys and not the device itself). Regardless, I was a little concerned about moving away from glass, but this is just fine, and much better than the alternative.

For those that might be wondering, I placed my order with standard shipping on the Nov 28th and received it on Dec 10 on the West Coast of the US.

Looks like you got a deal as the website shows me $60 USD, I went to ATT and they only carried Screen-Guardz...
this honestly seems like a software issue since the iPad works great upon installation, then... it becomes iffy.

Let us posted?

So I decided to install the second Orzera screen as I had a suspicion that maybe because I had lifted the first so much to remove dust it lost some of it’s adhere-ness? Lol, that maybe that had something to do with it being a little less responsive. The second went on with only one re-lift to remove dust, so far it’s a 9 1/2 out 10. It sometimes takes two touches to input t, e, I, or p, every blue moon, (so very rarely does it have an issue)... aleast for now. *knock on wood.

I’m going to ride this out in hopes ZAGG or someone makes a new glass cover that solves 99% of these issues, or Apple hears about this issues somehow and s able to do something... until then, the second Orzero is working much better.

Kallum.

At this point I am not sure if I even have the same lack of response issue described in the beginning of this thread anymore. The really only issue is the occasional or a little more frequent double taps, depending on the day, in that one game (GOT Conquest, in some ways similar to COC, but it's a money sucker and everyone please stay away from it!!) and not even any other games. I have also never experienced any more swiping issues or typing issues like I did the first day I put on my first protector. Think I'm just going to return all the other protectors and call it a day on this ESR. Don't want to try my luck on the last JETech, aka that "first protector" I had tried putting on and numbed my thumbs for the rest of the day by squeezing so hard in the Face ID camera area.

What I'll do is to play less of that game, it sucks anyway I just wanted to get my money's worth out of it hah, and do more other tasks on this iPad to test for any other touch issues. At this moment I cannot justify spending more money and energy on trying out different protectors just to address touch issues in this one game.

iPad Pro 11 and 'camera covered' issues with two screen protectors:
- SCL 9H 2.5D from Amazon.de
- ESR tempered glass

That’s good to hear.

I might just go naked with this iPad. I have AppleCare and replacing the device costs $50CAD, way cheaper than spending all this $$ buying these useless screen protectors that cause troubles

I just received a replacement TechArmor...I think the glass is too thick on all of the protectors...and that's why touch sensitivity is having issues.

This TechArmor after about 30 minutes is doing pretty well now. BUT...after install, there's usually a few dust specks. I was gently lifting a corner to get to a speck and...SNAP! The corner broke. Never had that happen before...the glass is noticeably thinner.

They are sending me a replacement. In the meantime, a MediaDevil is on its way.

Got the MediaDevil in, took about a little over 2 weeks to get in. So far all is fine touch wise and I use this with the Smart Keyboard Folio. Just wish it was glass even though they say this is the same hardness as a glass protector? I could of heard wrong. All is well.

I have the iPad Pro 11", and the MediaDevil is in shipment but don't know when it'll arrive.

In the meantime, I tried the Omoton glass cover and it caused touch issues immediately and got worse after 2 days. I then ordered the Tech Armor clear plastic film (not glass), just installed it, no touch problems. Not sure yet how scratch resistant it is compared to glass, but I do like that the film is super thin and so your finger/pencil is closer to the display like how the iPad has been designed and engineered. Also, the film seems clearer than the glass, perhaps because it has less reflections.

There's a skinomi glass protector that seemed to pop up out of nowhere. It's got near perfect reviews and many, which makes me wonder if they're all fake or if this is the one legit one out there.

I installed an Omoton that I purchased from Amazon on my 11" iPP. It was very inexpensive so I had modest expectations. After a few days I'm very pleased. It has a cutout for the FaceID camera. Touch sensitivity seems fine, and it works perfectly with the pencil.

I’ve got a 12.9 gen 3 and I’m using the apple keyboard folio

Earlier in this thread, there was a customer with this issue but it was resolved when he switched from his 3rd party case to the official Apple case. Both you and another customer are currently having an issue with the official Apple case applied. The other customer's issue was resolved when he removed the Apple case, is it the same for you?

As you might expect, we've sold quite a few packs for 11" and 12.9" by now. The overwhelming majority of our customers seem to have no issues with our protectors with those devices (whereas most of those customers had all experienced issues with other brands, which was how they found us). It does seem though like a very small proportion of customers are having these issues you describe.

I think there's been enough feedback by now in this thread to suggest that these new iPad Pro models are not being made in a consistent manner and that if you were to swap for another iPad, there's a good chance it'll work when using their official case and our screen protector. I believe this specific issue will magically resolve itself on the iPads that are produced over the next few months, as probably this thread is being closely monitored by you-know-who. I also think there's been enough feedback to suggest that it's best to use the official Apple cases because (for the next few months, at least), they're likely the only cases containing a properly-compatible magnet array. As I've shown in the photos of some of my previous posts, the iPad Pros and their official cases are crazy-complicated underneath the surface. Perhaps the cases with no magnets in them will be ok (just not with glass protectors).

I am sceptical that existing glass protectors will ever become compatible with these devices, because (even if it can be fixed on the new iPads), it might acknowledge that there was an issue with the launch stock that they then patched for the subsequent production batches. At the moment, there's (probably?) quite a valid argument that they were never designed to have 3rd party screen protectors on them in the first place, supported by the fact that Apple themselves don't sell screen protectors for iPads, whereas they do for the iPhones.
