TechArmor is a bust as well. I left it on the iPad...and it works fine as long as I'm holding the iPad. If it is laying on my desk and I try to interact with the iPad, there is barely any touch recognition at all.

Crazy how this particular iPad has changed the way it can interact with screen protectors. I'm seriously considering going without one this time. Another TechArmor is coming...I'm gonna try the Skinomi tomorrow, a sample is coming from a seller that messaged me here on MacRumors and I have a Media Devil film coming. I REALLY want to stick with glass as I think it feels the best, but if the iPad is compromised, then no deal. Hopefully Media Devil is as good as everyone has indicated on here.

I don’t understand why people think there is a difference between the feel of Glass to a film?

In my experience there is none, only a different thickness on your screen

My experience is different. Most films feel a bit "sticky" (best way I can describe it). They are not as smooth as glass. I will also say I have not used a film for years...so maybe that has changed. I look forward to trying the Media Devil, for sure.

I’ve been having touch issues since day one. The only reason I still have my film on is that this is one of the most perfect applications I have ever done and and really like the look of it lol.

But my question is, why hasn’t this made front page yet? Or for that matter, twitter or other tech sites?

+2. @MacRumors why hasn’t there been coverage of the bent new iPad Pros, #weaksauce design, touch sensitivity/screen protector or USBC 3.5 dongle WiFi issues???

Apple PR leaning on you?

Probably because the owner of this site is a major shareholder of apple

This will not tank the stock price. These matters are typically transient. It does bring the integrity of the site into question if personal investments are influencing coverage.

My MD protector showed up about 30 mins ago and is now installed on my IPP.

It's quite easy to install and feels great on.

I've given it a bit of a workout with the MD on and no issue so far with either Face ID or touch sensitivity.
11 inch model? Think this may be the one I pick up. I’m sure someone will figure out how to make a glass protector work in a couple months.

Just got the MD ultra tough screen protector today (ipad 11”). Installed it and its really good and no issues. Its film but definitely feels so much better than a genetic film one I bought off amazon. Feels smooth and not really sticky and I prefer smoothness so would definitely recommend this. The only difficulty for me was installing it as its really precise so you’d have to line it up really nicely but it does cover the whole screen.

UPDATE: I might actually be one of those unlucky ones that have an issue with the MD screen protector. Made a new post explaining it.

So I’m really considering taking my pro back and waiting for a new batch to not have any issues, does anyone think there’s a good chance Apple will fix this?
I don’t want to be without an iPad, so I’m wondering if this is an issue that can be fixed with a software update, or if waiting a few months Apple will fix this.
*Is it software or hardware, and would waiting do any good? Hmmm

... just curious what anyone thinks.

If they fix it I’d doubt they’ll announce it and just do it silently so until someone try out some new “batches” you probably won’t find out. Or they’ll just do what they do and pretend there is no issue and just keep on going, fixing it would be admitting that there is a problem.

I’ll try one last protector but if it doesn’t work I’ll take my iPad back to Apple and get a new one in a couple months, (hopefully Apple works this issue out.)

But, just curious... how many people with 12.9” iPads have this issue?

Kallum.
I installed the Sparin glass protector from Amazon on my new 12.9 on launch day and still do not have any of the touch issues. I actually received glass protector Nov 6, the day before my iPad arrived. I’ve never heard of the Sparin company before but the glass has the little microphone hole cutout. It’s worked great with the pencil also. I haven’t gone back and read any of the current reviews but it’s been fine on my iPad.

Edit... just looked at them on Amazon. It seems like the version I have isn’t available now. The only ones I see have the full notch cutout. My just has the little hole for the mic.

To give some added reassurance to those considering the MediaDevil option, I have had a MD fitted to my iPad Pro 11 for 3 weeks now and everything (inc Pencil) is working fine.

I had an AMFilm one cut out the same but still had issues, anyone think the iPad is the issue or is it the protector... or just random luck or no luck? lol

I’m so frustrated with this whole thing. I’ve never had a scratch on an iPad screen and always had a screen protector. Always in a case, kid gloves, etc. Well, now I have a micro scratch you can see on the outer bezel and I’m super annoyed.

I swore I’d never go back to crappy film style screen protectors but I guess I have to if the glass ones don’t work anymore. So much for eventually reselling this one. The scratch is mostly noticeable to me but I’m still mad that this was entirely preventable had Apple not gone all mad lads on screen protectors with this model.

It probably came from me wiping the screen since it’s a fingerprint magnet with no protector.

So an update for my ipad pro 11 with the MD ultra tough. I think I might be one of those unlucky people that have an issue with the MD screen protector. But my issue is a weird one and not really like the one I had before with the tempered glass. It works most of the times except when I use my thumbs. But the thumbs work again when I touch the back of the ipad/the ipad metal body so I think its still a conductive issue. Here is a video of what it looks like, you will see that near the end of the video around 20s I went to touch the back and it work again.

It might be an ipad issue though, I think I have to test it out. I think I have what looks like ghost touches and random times when I tap once but seem to register as double tap (rarely happens but I started to notice it). I only seen it happens in YouTube though, so I thought it was an app problem or because of my previous screen protector but seem to be happening on the MD too. Usually when it happens what it look like is in the middle of watching a video the YouTube controls shows up like when you tap the screen or when I tap the screen it skips 10s ahead which is a double tap gesture thing.

Part of me is wondering if this is a palm rejection software issue because the 11” is a new dimension and the bezels on both iPads are much smaller than before.

This is all complicated by the iPads with defective screens that are not flat (like my 11” was out of the box) and glass screen protectors that don’t sit flat/are not fully adhered to the screen because they’re too rigid.

ALTHOUGH if it was software one would have to assume Apple would’ve pushed out a software fix by now. New iPads have been out for what.. > 1 month now?

Yeah I too thought it was a palm rejection issue but then thought it wasn’t it wouldn’t make sense that if it was why does it work when touching the metal parts of thr ipad. Also visually at least mine looks pretty flat. Damn I’m quite disappointed that MD didn’t work with mine quite excited for it too, maybe I should try get a replacement ipad? Still need to find out the double tap and ghost touches issue but yeah they might be screen protector related.

So finally installed my MediaDevil screen protector and while it seems my touches are registering most of the time, my pencil is not. It was working perfectly before, but now only works if I press really hard, and even then, it doesn’t always work. As the reason I wanted a screen protector was to protect the screen from the micro dirt under the pencil tip when drawing or taking notes, this is a no-go for me.

Ugh, I was really hoping this was the final solution for me. I think I’m just going to have to go protector-less. At least I have AppleCare.

That's exactly the issue I'm experiencing with my tempered glass protectors

I am using MD too. Seems like I am having the same issue when using my whole thumb to scroll. If I only use the edge of my thumb, no issue. Like you, no if I touch any metal part of the iPad.

So the problem for me is
Whole thumb = unable to scroll
Part of the thumb = no issue
Whole thumb + touch a metal part with another finger = no issue

Have you every tried the same without screen protector? I should have done that before installing MD. But with MD, at least I have no touch issue except using when using my whole thumb. For all the TG screen protectors which I have installed previously, I had issue even when using fingers.

Yup! Exactly like this only doesn’t work when using whole thumb. With TG same like yours but I am pretty sure(not 100% though) I did not have this issue with some cheap and terrible film that I was using previously because if it had I would’ve noticed it like now. I have used a TG, then a generic cheap plastic film that literally gets scratched by everything and now using the MD.

Maybe other people with the MD or no protectors can check this out see if they have the same issue.
