Right, and I do appreciate these adjustments being available and playing with the hue/intensity sliders improved my X’s screen. But it’s not full calibration — really wish they’d offer it.

These options don’t help at all. They just put a blue layer on top everything. But you can STILL see the yellow. I think they completely screwed up the white point during calibration on tons of models.

Yep i can’t stand it. There is absolutely no excuse for this ****. The floor models on the floor at the store that look good, and some of them look like **** and yellow like my phone. Apple needs to speak up on what the hell is going on.

I turn my phone not even 1mm to the side and screen looks UNREAL! But if i look straight on it’s AWFUL and has a nasty yellow hue.
Its made me not like it and wish i stuck with my 7 plus

I dont even wanna try keep swapping for a new one as they all will have this issue its a shame we cant config the white balance

How many have you tried to swap? I tried to goto the store myself, some of the floor models were perfect. Some looked like mine. This is ******** that’s it’s basically hit or miss.

I went into the apple store and they basically went and compared it to their “triage” model. I asked to see it and come to find out the triage model had the same issue. A few of their floor models looked so perfect nice crisp whites with ZERO yellow hue, yet they wouldn’t listen to me.

Plus they had no replacements in stock for me to even trade out.

This yellow hue is a disaster, my iPhone 7 Screen looks better then this. At full brightness it’s uellow, at low brightness it’s super yellow.

If i turn my phone not even 1mm to either side the screen becomes a perfect bright white like it should be head on.

I have an appointment at another store Thursday hopefully by then more comes out about this defect of yellow hue screens and hopefully they have replacements; this is completely unacceptable and looks awful. This is not what a brand new OLED Screen should look like at all.

Did you even read any of this thread or just assume 25 pages of us are that stupid not to know True Tone is not off?

Try reading before replying.
Not what I wanted to read regarding some floor models looking crisp white. Did you check if they had auto brightness on/off and same for true tone? I'm assuming they were 100% on brightness?

If I turn night shift on and leave it at the lowest less warm setting, my screen looks EXACTLY the same when i turn it off. It’s crazy how screwed up this screen really is. I want a replacement but I don’t want to play the lottery of them opening another phone and getting the same damn issue.

I matched all the settings across all the devices to include mine. Some models looked nasty yellow like mine. Some looked amazing, perfect whites like an OLED should. I say it was 50/50.

SG 256GB - Slight shift to yellow when looking at phone straight on with minor movements. Then shifts to red off axis but text remains bold.

The silver model I've returned shifted more to a pale yellow. This made text look washed out.

Slight adjustment in settings and I've created a cooler blue tone. But the off axis shift remains. Have to say it messes with eyes and as a graphic designer who spends my days agonising over minor details I find this unsettling because I can't relax and stop noticing it.

With auto brightness on its not £1000 better than my 7+. The build quality, feel in hand, face id and gestures do create a better experience but I'm a little torn about keeping this product because the display is not blowing me away.
That is absolutely how I feel. It’s a nice phone, but with the tint it’s not £1000 nice. I will probably return.

Can someone with some more technical knowledge answer this:

I have placed the 'hue' slider around the same spot as the op but have been experimenting with leaving the intensity up a little bit as well (1st fifth). This seemed to reduce the yellow tint even further. Can someone expand on why the recommended setting is to have intensity all the way down. What are the advantages/disadvantages of leaving some intensity on? I realize this may be somewhat subjective.

I have my intensity up a little. Screen appears a little cooler this way, which I prefer.

We need to petition Apple to put in a white point adjustment in the iPhone. They have one in MacOS, no reason we cant have one in iOS.

This doesn’t solve the problem it just blue tints everything. It’s horrendous looking compared to what an actual good screen is supposed to look like.

Man, that’d be great. With a display this advanced, such a pity we can’t tweak it more......

Do all the phones change to a blue tint when tilted? It’s absoluetly horrible. I can see if it was just when I looked at it from a sharp angle but I get tint changes just slightly moving it back and forth while in my hand, reaching for something. It’s messing with my eyes. I don’t always have my phone straight flat in front of my face. One slight tilt and it’s off.
Should I try to exchange? Or is this just how it is?

I went to an Apple Store this evening and every display model changed to a blue tint off axis (and I looked at literally all of them), just like my X does. The change happens fairly quickly off axis, too. I’ve experienced this on Samsung phones I’ve played around with as well. Nature of small OLED displays, unfortunately.

Yeah but unfortunately most of the floor models also had this yellow hue issue.

But some of the models looked spectacular with perfect whites.

My Space Grey iPhone X is having a pink tint practically all around the contour of the screen when I incline it vertically for about 20 degrees. It's quite annoying and all the demos in my local Apple Store were presenting the same problem ( maybe it is not a problem ? ) minus one who was perfect no matter the angle. i think this is a defect but if I want a perfect one, it's like to play lottery. Hope Apple resolves this problem.

Everything you guys are complaining about is just the normal operation of the screen.

Ive had a Note 5 & 8, S7 edge, and a regular S7 and none of them had a color shift as dramatic as the X. I'm playing with the Note 8 now, and the shift is almost impossible to see

Mine sucks too. Cant even shift the phone a little in my hand without the screen changing color.

This was kind of posted before, but I wanted to add on to the info about the options in Color Filters.

There are a few ways to adjust the color of the screen.

General>Accessibility>Display Accommodations>Color Filters
- You have 5 options to adjust the color. Since a lot of the problem is between the Yellow-Blue tones, try adjusting based on the Blue/Yellow filter (4) instead of the Color Tint (5) filter. See attached thumbnails.

I know this isn’t true calibration, but it may help some of you who just need a color adjustment.

One more thing:
You will find the Reduce White Point slider under General>Accessibility>Display Accommodations

Note: This is on my iPad Air 2 (not perfect), so you’ll have to find what works best for you.

Can’t help on the off axis color changes issues.
