The color shift properties can't be fixed without a display hardware revision. If it would have been simple for Samsung to manufacture a better panel at current point and time, we likely wouldn't need have this discussion. Additionally the panels need to be calibrated individually, a software white point fix isn't the best idea.

Does anyone have any photos comparing the two screen temperatures? (ie between an iPhone 7 and iPhone X?)

My X appears significantly warmer in person, but when I capture it on photo it shows my X being the coolest of the bunch. Out of curiosity, for those reporting warm displays, do you have a screen protector on? I wonder if this is attributed to my yellowing screen as the photos of it show it quite cool. And I would test this theory by taking off the Belkin screen protector, but it was $40. :(

(and...yes I own a lot of Apple products :) )

Same issue here. In person, the X looks the most yellow. But in pics, all my other screens look more yellow and the X looks like whiter.

I wonder if this is why the X screen is yellow. Because they used professional instruments to calibrate, and not the human eye.

Here’s a 7 plus flanked by two Xs. In person the 7 Plus is the whitest brightest screen. The Xs are warmer.

How exactly have you concluded that this is Samsung's fault? I don't see any reports of Samsung phones with color variations from device to device. This seems to be rooted in Apple's unique calibration software that has been touted as being so wonderful. Apple seems to have gotten pretty sloppy with their software quality lately given the number of releases it is taking them to get it right. We are of course both speculating, but the display panels aren't a dramatic change from other devices, but the software is.

Are your two iPhone X screens identical, or is one warmer than the other?

One is warmer than the other. Not by much, but they aren’t exactly the same.

I found all X panels to be significantly warmer than the 7 Plus panel, and to each have slight variations in tone amongst themselves. But those are very minor.

^^ That being said, can we conclude that there is nothing wrong with our phones but rather a personal preference since they were designed to be this way?

Seems like most if not all of the X Users here are experiencing a yellow tone when TT is set to on.

Just my .02

Agreed, my dads is the slightest bit cooler compared to mine being just slightly warmer. Just one of those things that goes with a new iPhone launch. The days of doing exchanges and sitting there and trying out multiple devices is long gone. Apple is making sure of that with units being extremely scarce at the moment.

Ultimately Apple is responsible for their products, however my point is that Samsung is likely capable of mass manufacturing only certain type of oled displays which means that the display used in Iphone X should be fundamentally quite similar to ones used in Note or Galaxy series.

For example DisplayMate has measured similar color shifts for both Note 8 (5 JNCD) and Iphone X ( 6.2 JNCD) at 30 degrees angle. Ideally color shift should remain under 3 JNCD and the LCDs used in iPhones stay well below this threshold.

If there's a major variance in measured display whitepoint between Iphone X displays, this points to quality issue somewhere in Apple's supply/manufacturing chain.

I've looked at various iPhone X's at retailers and I am really not impressed at all by the display. Way too warm even with TT & NS turned off. I like my 6s screen much better so I will probably upgrade to the iPhone 8, not the X.

I have a co-worker who has the Samsung 8 Note and that display is gorgeous right off the bat. It seems like a lot of people and reviewers say the saturation is a bad thing but I really wish Apple went more this route than what the X is now. And I don't see any annoying color shift issues when I rotate the Note 8.

I'm not an Apple-basher either. I own and enjoy a lot of their products, but the X's screen is a real let-down for me.

I honestly think the 8plus screen is really nice. Just played with someone’s in my restaurant. He just got it yesterday and said he loves it. I don’t know? It’s definitely cooler than my X, and yea it’s not super saturated like a note 8, but that’s fine...Apples LCD screens are in my opinion really beautiful.

I’m going to give my X it’s full 2 weeks and if my eyes don’t adjust I’m gonna just exchange it for an iPhone 8plus, I don’t have the patience to go back and fourth with exchanges, and it’s actully a real PITA while on the iPhone upgrade program because you have to go through the whole process again.

It’s crazy because I feel like my phone was cooler when I first got it, and over the last 2 days has just become warmer? The screen still looks nice, just not when compared to an S8 ,Note, and yes even an iPhone 8plus.

That X looks exactly like the defective *Pink* displays that plagued the Galaxy S8 and S8+. Horrible!!

We have yellow with TT OFF AND NIGHT SHIFT OFF.

I can agree my iPhone looks like someone wiped their a** on the screen.

Well. I went into the apple store and compared my phone with their floor models. I disagree with this, as 75% of the floor models were perfect whites and bright crisp screens set as same settings as my phone; while some were warm. I feel like one of their calibration setups may have been set incorrectly in their factory.

It’s like “reduce white point” option is stuck to ON. Because when I turn my reduce white point on the lowest setting it doesn’t change my screen at all. I get the same yellow hue with reduce white point on, and off.

I have the belkin glass screen protector from Apple...which has a finger print smudge from the dingo that put it on. If I keep the phone i’ll Have them switch the screen protector out.

Oh I see. With TT off on mine, it’s a bit too blue for my taste.

I didn’t know that peeps here are still having yellow issues with TT turned off.

Did they use a machine to fit it? When I had one fitted on my 7 Plus, I don't even think he touched it apart from to place it in the machine.

I have an appointment Thursday hoping they have white box replacements... or any in stock at all. Or I’ll just get an iPhone 8 cause this screen is complete garbage compared to my iPhone 7.

Yes they used the machine, I’ve had it on my last few phones. How Lucky I am my phone was the first to get a belkin screen protector at Williamsburg...lol He was probably geeking out putting it on.
