I have this same pink hot edge running down the right side of the phone. Luckily I don’t have the yellow tint issue. Kind of noticeable when reading text from left to right.

Question for you all: Is the hot pink edge issue common in OLED screens? It kind of bothers me but there’s no way in hell im starting the panel lottery for it to end up with a yellow panel. If it’s a common thing I think I can convince my brain to accept it :)
It is a peculiar “affliction” i first ever saw for myself on my Samsung S8+ display. Samsung issued a software “fix” that allowed us to calibrate the hue of our edges. It works but I am forced to use the Adaptive display setting that is over saturated vs the other two display presets that are more natural and accurate. Adaptive is the only preset that lets you adjust the color temperature of your display.

So, the pink edge is a hardware flaw that Samsung mitigated via software. I don’t expect Apple to issue such a fix because iOS doesn’t allow you to fine tune the color temperature on your display.

I have not seen or heard of this flaw on earlier generations of Samsung phones and it’s not apparent in the ones I’ve owned prior to the S8+.

I tried and tried and tried to get used to it but never did. If not for the software fix I am sure I would have traded the S8+ in for a Note 8 by now. I don’t own an IPhone X but if I were to get one and see that pink edge, the phone would be going right back into the box and back to Apple. I did want to return my S8+ but Samsung has only one customer service number and it was getting hammered the entire duration of my return period. I couldn’t afford to wait an hour to several hours on hold just to get an RMA.

Yup to all...that's OLED for ya. Have myself experienced these OLED screen anomalies on many Samsung phones in the past.

Keeping my iPhone 8 Plus :)
Exactly. Many times I’ve posted under different threads in which MR users were clamoring for OLED and chastising Apple for still using LCDs that everyone better be careful what they wish for. People here were talking like OLED would solve all of their display complaints. I’d started using Samsung phones in summer of 2016 and due to two recalls and different issues my husband and I ended up using 4 Note 7s, 2 S7 Edges, 2 S7’s, and 2 S8+. I noticed many variances and issues amongst all of these OLED displays.

I tried to warn people. I’m sad to see that people here are struggling with their displays. But yes, people, this is OLED. The pink hue I’m seeing in some pictures is new to me and I first experienced it with my S8+ this year. It was a “thing” with the S8 and S8+ models that many were afflicted with. I don’t see it as much on later versions of the same models so Samsung must either be calibrating for it in the factory now or found a way to avoid it in the production line. I can only guess.

FWIW, my husband’s iPhone X seems flawless, though it does have a very slight off-axis blue shift. It’s very mild, though.

I’ve been following this thread since the 3rd and am too suffering with a much warmer screen like others. Slightly warmer on the top half and bluer at the bottom. Colour shifting hasn’t bothered me at all but the non-uniformity is annoying!

I’ve changed the colour tint to suit but was wondering if anyone else is now satisfied with keeping their handset and having the calibrated settings permenantly on?

I also went to the Apple Store in Regent Street, London yesterday and compared mine with exactly the same settings against 8 store models. What I did notice was that all were not as bright as mine and seemed duller? However did not have a yellow tint (with TT off of course) definetly a cooler bluer screen!

I suspect the brightness issues was down to heat as per the earlier observations on this thread.

Got my iPhone X replaced due to hair under my camera lense; this phone also has the same yellow tinted screen as my last phone. I’m just gonna use True Tone for a few weeks and try and get used to yellow screen then switch it off so whites look white again.

I got my iphone X last night and played with it for a few hours. I also want to say the yellow tint is too aggressive with true tone switched on, and the blue tint is too aggressive with true tone switched off. I mean WTF! This isn't normal.

I compared it too my iphone 5s and my wife's iphone 6 and our screens look normal. The X screen didn't look right with either true tone on or off. Shouldn't the screen at least look "normal" and not too blue with true tone switched off?

And don't tell me there's something wrong with my eyes and it will take time to adjust, I know it takes a few seconds for our eyes to adjust between colours, that's very evident to anyone who uses the "night shift" feature every night on the iphone - your eyes take a few seconds to adjust back to normal.

I also use an Asus monitor, calibrated to sRGB so I know what a decent colour calibrated screen tone should look like.

I mean this is really pathetic from Apple, why are they making the screen look too blue with true tone off?
Do they have colour blind people calibrating the screens or something, and I thought apple prides itself regarding colour accurate screens.

I will give it a proper use of the next 14 days and see what happens....

We feel your pain. I'm getting a call from Apple midday and asking for a replacement. If it's the same I'll be happy to stuck my 7+. For next year I will be uncertain on my options if Apple don't improve their oled screens.

I have the same on mine but when I toggled on colour filters all of a sudden the screen was perfect. I didn’t adjust the sliders at all.

Auto Brightness on or off? Try playing with it, it's now under General/Accessibility/Display Accommodations...

I will likely return my X due to the color shifting and uniformity issues. I'm bummed because I love the form factor, but the 8+ will be $599 on Black Friday and that's a lot of value for money. Perhaps next year.

24hrs later and I’ve turned off colour filter and my screen looks great. Same thing happened with my iPhone 7. Except that one was after a week.

Is someone here experiencing this ghosting problem to ? {low brightness and black wallpaper}
It's been already discussed and it's normal for OLED. There was a pic with gray bars posted somewhere. Yes, it does show some ghosting, but it's not noticeable in real life at all.

I can confirm that that gray bar pic also showed some ghosting on mine as well. I played with it for about 5 seconds, made a mental note, deleted the pic, and moved on.

I'm usually very chill with these things but I'm getting obsessed.. Indeed, the true tone seems too yellow, and without it a blueish/greenish tint.

I went to an apple store and put my iphone next to 4 models they had there, and with True Tone Off and same level of brightness, all screens were very similar (slight variations obviously, but nothing crazy). I'm starting to think that this is the way the screen is.

So where are we at with Apple replacing a unit with a yellow screen. It was the first thing I noticed when I turned it on - especially yellow compared to my iPhone 7. Is it worth taking it into Apple or are they going to have me adjust the Hue?
I decided to return my 2nd one last night. Apple store employees will tell you they don't see anything. Mine looked alright, but still a yellow hue when viewing straight on and looked perfect white at an angle. I didn't adjust color tint in the settings, because this would make things look worse at an angle. One thing I noticed while looking at display models, the ones that had worse blue tint at an angle, looked better and more uniform head on and less yellow compared to ones with less blue color shift. Could be subjective on my part obviously, I examined 8 more display models. But I found myself thinking that I'd be OK with one that shifted blue at an angle if overall it was more uniform and not yellow-ish head on. Back on my 7 for now.

How can this happen to a $1000 phone ! I have a $400 Axon 7 that also has a oled screen and it doesn't have any hints of blue or yellow in the screen when viewed at an angle .
