One last question before I decide to visit the genius bar.

On your “good” displays, do you have an even color display when looking at it straight on while using a white background app? Or are the top/bottom or middle, sections different tones? I’m not taking extreme angles but typical viewing angle.

most of the displays that i saw were brighter at the bottom (mine is the same) and a bit yellower at the top. its distracting me a lot but after seeing a few in the shops, bar the one perfect looking one, they all look the same.

Mine is bright and even all over when looking at whites and testing this via a white image.

Been keeping up with this thread, and decided to go and compare my X to those in the Apple Store.

Mine looked identical to all but one of the display models I tried, which looked slightly less bright than mine when side by side (TT off, max brightness).

I’m guessing this means that I may have gotten lucky with a good panel?

Do you have any pink or blue edges?

was this a new in box or genius bar replacement ?
[doublepost=1511852179][/doublepost]Can you guys say if your replacements are retail boxes or white boxes
Mine is a white box replacement but device is brand new. Fine by me as long as it is a good screen.

Same thing here, bought as a pre-order, can’t exchange it already, the problem is when i look straight on it - there’s really annoying and noticeable yellowish/greenish tint. When look at angle - perfect colors. Really perfect. Hate my X. First time disappointed in apple device for 7-8 years. Greenish/yellowish tint is pinkish on photos and it’s almost not noticeable as if you hold it in your arms.
iPhone 7 display looks a way better and brighter

Not necessarily. Unlike other iPhones the X can dim the screen if it's too warm. It's embedded in the hardware. Sometimes it's hard to see the actual brightness of the display units as they get capped by the hardware. I've seen it many times before with display units of the X. Sometimes you would have to lock them to turn off the screen and then back on to see the max possible brightness of that screen. Auto-Brightness toggle does not mean anything in those scenarios.

I am seeing this on the three units I have had as well. To varying degrees the bottom is brighter than the top. Also there tends to be a bit more yellowish tinge towards the top and slightly bluer and brighter at bottom.

I have the same screen. It's brighter at the bottom, but overall it looks uniform. I don't have any crazy pink edges or terrible pink tint (it gets slightly pink before turning slightly blue when tilted). I compared it to many other X's and I could see that my screen was solid. There are so many units out there with the prominent pink tint or pink edges and some sort of pink blotches. Some of them are not very consistent in terms of color uniformity. I'd rather live with a slightly brighter bottom than the other issues.

I’m being serious. I like my blue shift especially when it’s on my desk. It’s looks halo like. It is normal however. My S8 does the same.
yeah i wouldn't mind so much if mine shifted to blue, and uniformly so. head-on, my display is great. on my desk, it goes to pink blotches :(

What’s the model number? N Or M?
Model number starts with N. My original one started with M. It says in my service invoice that "customer will receive new device" for what that is worth. The tech also said the replacement X phones are still new. I have no idea. All I care about is that it works and the screen is good. I've gone through so much crap with these awful screens over the past month I honestly couldn't care less if it ends up being a refurbished phone. I will probably sell it in a year anyway.

I looked up the serial info online and it shows production week 43 (23.10 - 29.10) so I assume the device is new.

I got a white box replacement 2 weeks ago, and it was built in the same week (42) as the original I got at launch.

Meh. Looks great head on but blue shift with slight movement, which is fine. The shift isn't terrible, have seen far worse. Narrow viewing angle where everything looks perfect. As good as it'll get with this phone, it isn't perfect (no OLED is in my opinion and I can't wait for this craze to blow over and give way to micro LED). You all wanted OLED, well here we go. It needs to die just like plasma died. Glad to just move on and enjoy the phone!

After learning all the different ways to adjust the screen I can make mine look as blue /white/ yellow as I want. Not even sure what is normal anymore.

Seems like the blue dress / white dress photo from a few years ago.

Just got the email confirming my 2nd replacement has just been dispatched. This ones also week 42, so clearly they’re still sending new handsets out as white box replacements.

On a separate note, I hope getting another week 42 device doesn’t mean poor screen and build quality again.

Mine is an F1 and week 46 and it still isn't right. I feel like they really rushed to get them in stores for the holidays.
