I could never understand that crazy urge of having such an expensive thing as an iPhone in Russia. Mind that in Russia there is no such thing as “carrier installment plan” or “Apple Upgrade Program”. You have to buy it outright. The iPhone is usually more expensive there as well. The X is around $1400 for the base model there. It’s such a status thing in Russia.
Once my friend’s 4S broke down due to a faulty modem. He had to send in it for diagnostics. Long story short, he had to wait a month before it got replaced! Insanity! There are no official Apple stores in the country, only 3rd party resellers.
So I can’t even sympathize with the author of that faulty screen comment. You know what you sign up for when you get an iPhone in your country. It’s still a mass product, and if there is no proper service in place, I don’t think it’s worth the effort and money.
My iPhone is from US, true tone is off, and i can exchange my phone in authorized service centre for 3-5 days.
And it’s not so bad here as you described.
I’ve just shared my problem because as we can see I’m not the one who cares about this. I saw 6 iPhone X units and only one of them was a bit better than mine.
I’m a developer, and when you describe your app on a MacBook with “white” screen and then the result is not what you expected on a device it's a little disappointing.
I’m happy your screen isn’t crappy, but mine is. And I don’t want to play this lottery, i’m just trying to figure out how widespread the problem is.
