Not at all

Phone still looks greenish at minimum brightness and yellow at anything brighter. Still darker at the top and gradually gets brighter to the bottom of the screen.

How this is individual pixel lit I have no idea
I’ve seen far too many X where it’s just a tad darker on the top then gets brighter at bottom.

I just had my iPhone x exchanged for another reason (sharp edges) and wow, the screen on the new one is so much better than the piss-yellow one they told me in the Apple store was normal. If your screen is nasty yellowish, that's definitely not normal. I'm holding the evidence in my hands right now.

Hi
Got my X this morning - when the display is head on there is an almost yellow tint to it; when I turn it to the side it is obviously much more white

Why is this??

I even turned off ‘True Tone display’ but that hasn’t changed anything...

Thoughts?
James :)

Edit:
Apple has released a support document on this issue. Saying it is not a defect, and that it is 'normal' with OLED to experience a colour change when viewing the phone at a slight angle - Although, just because it is 'normal' with OLED, it does not make it anymore acceptable for a phone like this.
https://www.macrumors.com/2017/11/03/iphone-x-display-screen-burn-in-normal/

The best option I have seen on this thread is to change the hue to counteract the yellowness of the display, this in turn means the off angle colour shift is less noticeable - although plainly still there!! (thanks to nicolaselhani):

Settings - General - Accessibility - Display Accomodations - Color Filters
Then select 'Colour Tint' and move the hue 2/3 of the way

pentile nature of oled displays its perfectly normal... why is this taking 50+ pages to discuss again?...
if you want perffecto colors on most if not all angles go for the 8/8+ LCD IPS. IPS has little to no color shift due to the screens nature.

Well for one good reason - people are seeing different quality displays in this phone. Why is this? I think that's worth discussing.

i was going to give up on the lottery, and live with the pink tint at desk-reading angles, since i thought i had passed my return period...

but then i discovered that my purchase was within the extended holiday return period, which means i have till jan 8 to return the device if i want to. LOL. and availability seems to be much improved: there are units available for pickup today at the closest apple store, despite checking in the middle of the day!

i should give myself at least another week to see if the colour still bothers me, though.

I have a slight pink tint along the edge of the screen, already past 14 day return period. Not sure what to do since other people’s seem to be much worse.

Something like that would definitely annoy me. But I have a very slight, and I have till 1/8/18 to decide if I want to keep it or not. I do have another one on order, currently at preparing to ship stage. I placed an order on 11/30/17 and yesterday I got charged and status went preparing to ship. So I'll get it sometime this week.

Its a bit hard to tell the tilt if at all, but is that pink band visible with looking at the screen straight on without tilting it?

The picture was taken at a very slight angle, like looking at it when the phone is flat on a table. There is less of a pink tint when looking at it perfectly straight, but it's still there.

That’s a nasty hot pink edge

We’re only a month out if you got it at Apple see if they’ll make an exception?

Go to apple store. Be nice to whoever helps and then the manager that can override it for you. I had to do this to one of my pink edge phones that looked exactly like yours. I was on day 16 or 17
[doublepost=1512265936][/doublepost]Also don’t settle. The iPhone X without a jacked up screen is amazing...

I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get a replacement since you can’t see the tint with both True Tone and night shift off but I guess it’s worth a try

TT is a default on setting, so they’ll clearly see. The biggest problem will be the stores lights.

Where should I buy Iphone X to increase odds of painless exchange for better screen? Apple BM store or website?

Either.

If you order from website and have issues just phone apple care and ask for an express replacement.

If you buy in store setup and check the device while there. If your not happy then ask to swap it. If it was me I would not except a white box replacement.

For 200 for ac+ and 999+ for X, apple should always give you a retail replacement even if you
Shatter it a year later

Are white box replacements customer returns/rejects?

I’ve gone through 4 iPhone Xs now all space grey. This has got to be the worst display of any iPhone IMO and I’ve been an Apple user since the first iPhone

1. No consistency between top bottom left and right. All the phones have lighter grey bars on the left to darker on the right. Very obvious in settings

2. All the screens are darker on top and brighter on the bottom. Again obvious in the settings menu.

3. All the whiter screens I’ve seen come across as reddy in sunlight.

4. All the yellower screens I’ve come across greenish in minimum brightness

Every screen including yours looks good in an Apple store at full brightness and very different once u leave

I don’t care about blue shifts or whatnot just give me a damn balanced (up down left right) display.

My 3rd iPhone X despite the above flaws had an overall good colour temp. Turn it around and right smack bang in the center of the camera, a piece of large fibre. They couldn’t believe it in the store and replaced it straight away. Just my luck.

4th one I’m on now looks ok but the contrast is set way to high especially with reds.

I don’t know any more

Hey so of all your iPhone X, how many were a tad darker at the top and brighter at the bottom?

I noticed on my X a few days ago this while in the emails. Its slightly brighter at the bottom left then the rest of the screen. Noticed it too of my buddies.

Is this a widespread thing? Dont want to enter the screen lottery if it is.
