Does the iPhone dim the screen under heavy load?

I was restoring my replacement last night and it was warm, plus I was charging it too and when compared to my partners it wasn’t as bright. Side by side.

Both were max brightness and TT off.

Once it had finished and cooled down, the screen suddenly brighten and they then looked the same.

I’ve never noticed but tbh my screen brightness is always 30%

yes.

The floor unit in the AS are all with a lower brightness because of the continuos load.

Hi Guys, i think i've stumbled upon a good unit. Glad to hear your opinion. No uneveness, no pink hue, slight color change in off axis. The screen looks a bit yellow for my personal preferences, but i think that the absolute white (or as white as the 6/6s or even 7) does not exist with this phone.

True Tone OFF, with different dimming

My prev unit, with a huge pink hue in the x off axis, but a little whiter when straight

im getting my third retail box replacement this week from Apple executive relations.

How did U get to deal with the executive relations?

I’m done dealing with the stores

I’m carrying my second iPhone X still.

I picked up the 3rd today n the screen was a mess. Pink bottom, yellow middle, blue top. Specks (yes specks) of dust camera lens. Walked right back into store and showed it to the guy who replaced it immediately because of the dust. 4th phone, top portion perfec, bottom 1/3 jaundice. Not even a smooth transition. U just fall off the deep end. They claimed they couldn’t see it and wouldn’t replace saying it was 2 phones per customer?!? How does the first one even count?

No issues returning money n I walked out

I’m thinking in store purchase can be just returned and not counted toward 2 exchanges limit. Should I get Verizon or unlocked model if I want to play screen lottery in store?

Right, also my comprehension is that they are running a specific demo version of iOS, so it means that color profile, max brightness, etc. can not be the same as the customer version.

I originally compared a couple of iPhone X on the display and they were ALL (much) less bright. Then to compare I had to put mine at 70/80% max of brightness so be on something equivalent.

Because the display units are always warm. The X dims the screen when it’s warm.

Just received my replacement.

Finally a unit where the Top and bottom are perfectly balanced. This ones a keeper.

This one is “whiter” than my original. But it looks violet next to it and white when not compared.

Thanks for your opinion Guys.

I'm pretty sure that this is one of the best level of white we can reach with the X.

It's pretty frustrating because there's the way to modify the level of white: i'm not talking about the screen filters (it's just a weak surrogate) but about the automatic calibration that spread out once you put your X outsite, in a sunny day, with the TT on.

In this case, it becomes really white.

Try it.

In this case, it becomes really white. -> agree, that is why I think they might fix it at least a little with software update, but seems like nobody is talking about it except us here...

yes they can absolutely fix the "issue" via sw update, but i think it'll never happen.
I can say that even in the italian forums some guys (mee too ^_^) are talking about it.

Anyone, very few mumbers to make Apple aware of this :(

Exactly the same with my 2 devices. The second one I got has little less brightness but besides that the better screen. Color shift in off axis comes at larger angles and is green or blue or something between. The yellowish tint is comparable on both devices.

What are the first two characters of the serial-numbers from your devices?

Both serial start with are FK.

Don’t search for a serial/display quality’s pattern: it simply does not exist.

Are you planning to keep the second?

Good question. Just thought about by myself. I think yes, I will keep the device, because I dont believe that I could win much more in the lottery. I´m not the big gambling guy. ;)

But I´m really disappointed by apple that they risk their reputation with such a quality issue.

Are you keeping your 2nd X?

Question: the pictura has been taken with TT off + max brightness?

Can you take a pic of a macrumor page?

By just looking at the posted picture this is looking very pinkish but I can really compare with anything another iPhone X next to this one so this is maybe an effect due to the picture.

Well after returning my launch day X with crappy screen, I decided to try again. I picked up 2 SIM free X, one 64gb and one 256gb. I opened the 64gb last night. The screen is better. Not perfect though. Still shifts to blue at an angle, but not nearly as extreme as the first. Gonna rock it for a few days and see what I think

What letters does the serial number been with?

The same factories I've been getting most of mine from previous. F2

Its a week 46 and of the 5 sets I've gone through its has the least colour shift. If it didn't know what the blue tint shift was about I wouldn't even notice it on this.
