Is this new to the X? Or the same old color filter options that dont really work?
Believe it was out in IOS 11 and due to the OLED display the colours aren't quite where they should be. The display settings just need to be adjusted. I've done that and there is no yellow at all.

I plan on returning it tonight and just sticking with the 8 Plus.

The X clearly has less screen area than the Plus sized phones. Total screen area means the most to me.

X is clearly a new type of device, which has first gen issues. Others can be the testers. I'll wait for the X2 in 2018.

Paid $1,264 for this and that's not cool.

Are there other issues you've seen? Yellow tint on some phones in the first batch has happened on every new iphone since the 3G. It wont go away ever. You either get lucky on launch day, or wait a bit for the good screens to come back.

Theres no yellow at all in Nilay Patels phone in the Verge review. His was perfect from jump street, no fiddling required.

Yeah, thanks. Just wanted to see if it was primarily a viewing angle issue or a uniformity issue. It appears to be a uniformity issue, since the notch side is more pink regardless of the direction the phone is tilted.

Yes, I wouldn’t notice it if it was uniform. I really don’t want to return it. :/

He's likely under bright light. With TT on and in bright light there is no yellow tint. On mine when I turn off TT everything is nice and neutral white.

Watch the review, he does a true tone face off vs an 8. In all cases, the X is more neutral/not yellow at all.

I see what you mean now. Interesting. I'll stop at Apple on my way home from work and compare mine to the display models. But if mine is defective, how come it appears perfect white with TT turned off?

If its fine with TT off you are good. TT makes everything more yellow. This is more about Yellow with TT off.

It’s interesting though that his hardly changed at all when turning on TT, that’s what’s weird. Tried 1 at Apple Store vs mine and it turns yellow but not as bad as mine.

The True Tone makes it look extremely bad off axis! Even a slight shift off axis changes the color!

Patient: "Doc, it hurts when I bend my arm like this"
Doctor: "Then don't bend your arm like that"

In all seriousness, this is common in OLED screen. My Gen 1 Pixel XL is nearly identical... which is why I didn't "notice" it till you mentioned it. LCDs are much more forgiving of angle.

Haha

Yes this is a common trait for OLEDS but didn’t think it was that bad until I noticed it

Just got my Space Grey 256GB from Apple. The color shift is HILARIOUSLY bad with True Tone on. It shifts on a white screen even if I tilt the phone the teeeeeniest amount. It's pretty ridiculous, actually. Goes yellow or blue depending on which direction you shift.

To be honest, even my LG C7 65" OLED TV has yellow/blue color shift depending on seating position. Nobody seems to care much there (I DO!), so we'll see how much people care here.

Also, seems OLED still can't do whites. The whites on my iPhone 7 Plus are blistering white, and on the iPhone X they're kinda grainy, and ...of course... the color shift.

You may have a bad screen. I'd compare it to display phones.

These threads just feed the trolls.

Can't you express a opinion properly?

Who uses a phone at that angle?

& post a photo to back up your extreme, panic merchant view...

I wouldn't really consider a video of the X to be a good indicator as to the white balance of the screen (post production, camera settings, YouTube compression and so on).

Under accessibility, And display accommodations, calibrate the display with the “Hue” slider.

Will help address your problem.

I GUARANTEE I don't have a bad screen. I'm used to OLED by now so I know how they work quite well.

Here's my phone with True Tone set to ON. It behaves just like my 2017 LG OLED TV, in many respects. i.e. it color shifts even within the color shift. It's just an OLED thing - for now at least.

Any slight movement of the phone and it is visible, off axis can be a single degree off Center and it can be seen!

If it’s that sensitive I would consider it a defect or something similar. Mine experiences the hue too, but it’s at rather extreme angles where it would be difficult to use the phone properly.

Yes I have been adjusting quite a few things but I can still see it.

At extreme angles it’s very blue, maybe it is a defect.

Maybe go to a local Best Buy or Apple store and check out the phones on display and compare with yours.
I will see if others have the same trait at the Apple store.

I will add more exclamation marks to satisfy your rant!
