Under accessibility, And display accommodations, calibrate the display with the “Hue” slider.

Will help address your problem.

I don't see anything called Hue. Do you mean reduce white point? Thanks.

Mine is the same, blue off axis, even with true tone off. My 7 doesnt have this trait. I guess its part of OLED but interested if there are Xs which dont go blue off axis..

The ones at an Apple store near me are all the same. Compared mine against 3 display models once I was able to get access to more. True Tone causes the screen to get much much warmer. Wasn’t like this on my iPad Pro that I no longer have.

From my hands on experience the Verge video is the outlier, 4/4 phones viewed in person behave the same vs the ‘perfect’ Verge one. Another poster right above me has the same thing. Who knows the lighting he was under in the Verge video.

One X I viewed at the store had a pink tint at the top of the screen. Another one did not get as bright as mine. Safe to say there are growing pains with this phone. Luckily my screen is uniform. I’ve adjusted my color tint to my liking in the display accommodation settings and it looks great.

@kre62- I remember comparing piss yellow screens in other threads with you over the years, I fully acknowledge Apple has a piss yellow screen problem, not disagreeing with you. I just think something must be up with that Verge video based on the 4 phones I’ve seen in person and what others have said here.

I try to not think about it but it’s noticeable , it’s the good with the bad for OLED screens

I will see if others have the same trait at the Apple store.

I will add more exclamation marks to satisfy your rant!
You're a detriment to those looking for measured opinions on a phone they're considering to spend a lot of money on.

But cheers for confirming this thread's a waste of time. Enjoy your many replies...

The display is beautiful. Maybe u have a defect. Color shift is common with oleds. It’s not bad and it certainly doesn’t impede the experience. I love this display. Not a bad thing to say about it. And I’m already used to the notch and I’ve only have about 5 minutes of looking at it. JMHO

I’ve honestly watched so many YouTube X vids they’ve all sort of blurred together in my memory.
That’s because they are the same.....like we need to see that the iPhone X comes with headphones 75 times. No one cares what’s in the box since it’s been the same for almost 10 years.

Yep it's just one of the trade offs of OLED - the technology is sold as an upgrade in every way, but in reality you get some improvements - black levels, improved battery life for darker content, more vibrant colours, flexibility and ability to make custom shapes/ borderless devices while some things are worse than LCD - off axis colour shift, odd subpixel layout, worse tendency for burn in, worse battery life for bright screen content, to name just some of the pros and cons.

Okay, so turning True Tone off makes the hues very noticeable and pronounced when tilting phone. I’ve had True Tone on since I turned it on and I feel like it mitigates some of the hue.

Don’t know if others have it off but thought I would share my findings.

Personally I don’t think this thread is trolling at all. My phone is extremely yellow when I look at it dead straight. It only “fixes” itself when it’s angled heavily away. I’ve turned True Tone off now and it’s a lot better but not perfect.

Honestly I hate true tone. I turned it off my iPad Pro 10.5 and my iPhone 7 (when I had one). Turn it off. If it still has it go to the Apple store and see if you can have it exchanged.

It’s only my opinion, I am just stating a fact I see through my eyes. To those that don’t see it or isn’t a bother to them , then that is great and shall enjoy the phone immensely.

You’re being Awfully negative. The OP just wanted some feedback to see if they had a normal or defective device. There’s no need to be so hostile to other people around you.

I will compare mine to others in the Apple store and if it warrants an exchange, then I will.

Guess maybe I’ll get used to it, but being a photo retoucher by trade, it’s gonna drive me a little nuts.

Don’t understand why I don’t see this on OLED TVs.

Not trying to be derogatory but what use case would warrant viewing the screen at any angle other than straight on? The iPad on which I’m typing goes darker when I view it from any angle other than straight on and it’s a non-issue because I don’t use it that way.
