I differ on that. Love my LG OLED and X

But still different tech. X is pentile AMOLED and LG TV panels are WOLED (white pixels)

Infinite blacks and the contrast is so great.

But X lottery is brutal. Especially for the price but even if not for that

That and jailbreak and price make me
Wanna hold onto this phone for a while

(Slapped a long 4 year warranty on my 65” OLED too, not replacing this tv for like a decade unless it breaks before then which is always a possibility with mass manufactured and especially new tech)

I hope microLED or whatever is worth the hype and a good
Mix of
The benefits of OLED and great LED Panels
Oh right, totally different tech. There are 4 LG OLED TVs in my family / extended family and I'm just not a fan for many reasons I won't get into in this thread. Good call getting the 4 yr warranty. Can't wait for micro LED phones.

I would suspect it has something to do with motion, banding, uneven tinting, the price, or the quality control :D .. or vignetting (in case of TV OLED)

common complaints between LG OLED and X, surprisingly enough!

Sorry to burst your bubble, but OLED TVs don't last very long. I'm pretty sure after 2 years you will see real life burn-in results on your TV.

Thats fine, I don't watch content with a static logo on it often, and I've already invested the hunk of cash in the tv.

Shy of it not working, I'm riding the wave :D

After the honeymoon phase of tech is over, I'm far less obsessive about it

in af ew months I will have had my 65" for 2 years, and it still looks great just as it did the day I bought It. no discernible difference

65'' OLED TV bought 2 years ago, ouch! That must've been soooo expensive!

Nope :D
I mean still more than I wanted to spend on a tv (I hate spending money on televisions period, even if its a cheap small size set), but considering Im not buying another until it breaks and is out of warranty, but it was a clearance model by the time the new ones had long since come out.

just under $2k pre-tax

Well, i'm waiting to Apple, the Apple Store sent a video to Apple, they are not seeing the Pink Screen
I also compared the iPhone right to the demo one and they don't see it.

Also i taked a picture. (Obviously mine is the pink one)

honestly is that even worth replacing?
the pink is only showing off angle, and further from that, its uniform....

Sounds like a great deal then! Congrats! They are still priced higher than that even now.

Exactly!
Last year I had to go through at least 4 of them and this screen looks pretty decent to me. One of mine was extremely pink and nothing like the one in the pic, which looks fine to me. All X's are more or less uneven with different blotches, discoloration, uneven tints and brightness, etc. it's the nature of OLED in general and Apple QA on top of that.

IMO that screen looks pretty bad - I would say worse than 3/4ths of the X devices I've seen assuming the photo is accurate. It does seem that 90% of them have some sort of screen issue, though.

so much for a perfect screen, while on a conference call my dog chewed away at my leather case and the bottom glass of the screen

it had a tempered glass over it but still cracked

probably just gonna deal I don't want to shell out $300 to maybe have my device restored to stock and a screen with tint and uniformity issues

:(

You’ve got to be kidding, lol. So sorry to hear this. After all you went through with screen defects. Maybe go for an 8/8+ then? Just did this myself, perfect uniform neutral white screen with no shift.

I have a 7+ still with a perfect screen and jailbroken too,

The X is perfectly usable without cutting my
Fingers just annoys me
It's now .. shattered
Got some hair line cracks running horizontally on the bottom just by the dock

Might even slap another tempered glass over it to keep it all From getting worse potentially but going to go raw for a little without

Just my luck, I can't win even when I win

Just registered now, I don't know if I attached the image well. Just got my iPhone X 256GB and looks like a Paella. Super yellowish. Sorry for the bad quality pics taken with a 5.

In the image there is my iPhone 6 which has the exact tone than my retina MacBook Pro, and on the right this thing called iPhone X (I hate it right now) I'm super pissed, you pay a lot of money and they give you a heavy phone with a ****** screen. I work with graphics all the day and this is the worst nightmare. Thanks, Apple!

I just swapped from a SGX to A Silver, i always thought my launch SG had a light yellow tinge/blotching, side by side it definitely has. I got it bit better in settings. The Silver is better but next to my new 8 plus the plus is brilliant perfect white, X is dull white.

I’ve had my X for the past month and always thought there was something off about it but didn’t think much of it as I’ve been far too busy with work. Now that things slowed down, i noticed that my phone had the yellow tint as well. I went to an Apple Store earlier to compare models. The first iPhone X I compared with, I instantly noticed their screen was brighter with much more vibrant whites. Another screen was more pink, but 4/5ish phones looked great compared to mine. Going back today to the Apple Store to see if I can exchange mine out and show them the comparison.

I was never a fan of warm or yellow screens, which was why I turned off True Tone and Night Shift the moment I got the phone. I guess after that initial change from yellow to “less yellow” after shutting those settings off, my eyes thought that was the correct color to look at. Tried changing the hue but the blue colors seem so off and it’s harder to look at the screen. The yellow is wayyy more apparent when I shut off color tint and it is back to how Apple originally set it.

okay, so here is my experience. I got my iphone from US through my cousin. The moment I opened my phone, viola terrible pink hue on right hand side, dust in camera lens. Boi, my all excitement went to gutter by looking at these problem. And worst part of is that, I live in India, so apple don't swap phones for fault's, they repair the part. I took my phone for the same problem, they replaced the display and camera setup. I started using the phone, but for some reason I wasn't able to enjoy my device, since It was serviced right after it was taken out of the box, no thrill whatsoever for a new device.
Then, after reading few post about display uniformity which can be seen in clock app, I found the same problem in my replaced display, I sent my phone again to the service centre and they changed the display. Now, to my surprise the 2nd display they have changed is worst than before, it has all that yellow tint terrible shift all n all display was a garbage.
Then, I went to the service centre again, told my journey about Iphone X experience and the guy was quite supportive. i stated him that this is m 3rd visit and my phone is going to the repair centre for 3rd time and still the issue persist about the display. he made me assured that he will get my phone replaced and after a week finally today I got my brand new replaced device. God, finally i can feel the rush for owning the new device no drama this time about the display. It isn't perfect but surely a keeper.
Guys, anyone who is facing a problem, I think you should try to get a good device, chaos is worth after all. I can tell this from my experience.

Finding a device with uniform display and neutral tint is difficult? I mean have you find anything which has both the things right.

Yes: iPhone 8. I have perfect uniformity and nice neutral white. Functional True Tone that doesn't turn the screen piss yellow. No PWM flicker and no color shifting. Should've stuck with the 8 in the first place rather than go through my iPhone X lottery, which I ended up selling anyway.

I really miss
My old panel my dog chewed through and I got replaced

The replacement unit’s screen is serviceable and reminds me of the very first unit I had at launch that I was happy with minus terrible reception, but my other was “the one”... sucks

...Too afraid to swap this one cause it’s jailbroken and the new phone works well enough

Not worth the gamble knowing I would very likely get a worse unit and/or not on a version that could be jailbroken

You ended up selling a perfect-ish iPhone X tho? iPhone 8 is a great device as well

Yes, my latest iPhone X that I sold was perfect. Screen was neutral white and uniform with no hint of pink hue or tint anywhere. Not yellowish when viewing head on, and just minor blue shift at an angle. This is how they should all be. My Samsung S9 is the same but even better viewing angle before slight blue shift. Perfect on the 1st try and no ridiculous lottery.

You ended up selling a perfect-ish iPhone X tho? iPhone 8 is a great device as well

"Serviceable" isn't acceptable for a $1000 device, imo. Especially when other phone makers with OLED screens can get things perfect on the 1st try, for cheaper. But yeah, you've been going through this lottery since launch and know how much worse these screens can be. At least September is not too far away and you can sell it, and hope to get a perfect next-gen iPhone at that point.

I wanted to just sell the X while I could still get a respectable amount for it, considering the upcoming phones are rumored to be cheaper. I had been using Android anyway as my daily driver, so a $1000 paper weight made no sense. Very happy with S9 and iPhone 8 RED combo. I'll keep the 8 for several years, perfect screen and last "classic" iPhone that will be made.
