Good screens definitely exist but they're a diamond in the rough

this is at 100% brightness, taken with my 7plus, and my X has a tempered glass screen protector on too

Any edge coloration you see could be an effect of the camera, it looks clean all around to my eyes and I've seen more units than I care to admit. No off-axis pink tint on the edge or bunny ears either like I saw on some units as well.

didn't wanna post it for a while, to cast any semblance of doubt, but you can throw shade all you like at this point, its more to serve as a reference-- and its perfect (to me) and jailbroken so.. its not going anywhere any time soon

Good for you for not accepting a crappy screen. I've been flamed in another thread for returning multiple X over this issue, lol. Glad Apple is working with you. The best screens, and this is very subjective, are the ones that just slightly shift to blue. I find pink shift very distracting and every X I've tried that had pink shift there also was slight pink tint on the edge(s) or top by the ears. Good luck.

The replacement has been shipped already and will arrive tomorrow. Somehow they managed to get me one from the exact same production week and exact same factory. Since I’ve already had two from that week and that factory I’m scared for what I’ll see tomorrow. But good hopes :). If it’s horribly pink again I’ll just call in again.

I'll take side by side comparisons :). My camera is a bit weird though, if I put my X next to an LCD the X looks pure white and the LCD yellow when it's the other way around in real life.

I'm really hoping for the best. The new phone differs just 3 digits in the serial number >.<

Best you can hope for is that your new screen was cut from more towards the center of the sheet at the factory. I can't back it up scientifically, but it was posted here awhile back that the closer to center of the sheet, the better the screen is. One of my bad phones with pink shift and edges, and dust under camera lens was replaced by one from the same factory and similar serial number, and was just as bad.

For what it's worth, F3 was horrible for me. My current unicorn is G6, however, I've heard of others getting bad ones with a G6 serial number. So it brings me back to the thought that where the screen was cut from the original large sheet at the factory has a ton to do with overall quality vs. which factory it came from.

Just received my replacement. I had to ship my old phone back immediately so I won't be able to take comparison shots. The phone is setting up and updating right now. The screen (with true tone off) still looks a tad yellowish, but there is NO shift to pink before going blue. NONE at all. This is really surprising, since every OLED I looked at has at least a bit of pink shift before turning blue. I can still move the yellow up and down a bit, but that is just because the shift to blue. I think I'll just turn off true tone and see how it goes.

I'll take a shot of a white background when it is finished setting up.

I do not know what to say...

I am really OCD and never keep the phones or laptops if the screen is not perfect. I've bought an iPhone X a couple of weeks ago and it has no screen problems at all (even with a True Tone on). The colour temperature is good in every situation, the whites are perfectly uniform. Тhey are just getting a bit colder on view angles, but in general the screen behaves the same way as my work iPhone 7. Am I just lucky???

Looks like you got a keeper at last

Welcome to the club

It's an awesome screen and I'm really happy with it. It can't beat the galaxy s9 screen though, but maybe I was lucky on the first try with that one lol.

Thanks for letting me be part of the club

nice, did you turn off true tone in this pic? and did it come with the white box or retail box? congrats btw

It came in a white box. But to be fair: I was already using the phone for a little more than a month so I couldn't care less. The battery is fresh and my microscratches are now gone on the screen and stainless band :)

Looks like a pretty good one.

When seeing the X with a white screen like that, it really makes me excited for the day they can hide the camera/sensors somehow and have a true full screen.

That would be a fantastic phone. Currently using a galaxy s9+ and that screen is fantastic as well. The X just has a little less bezel.

Guys, I was so happy with this screen, but the screen felt so rough, not smooth at all. So I decided to check and I only have smudge resistance around the notch and nowhere else. It does repel water though.

Since I don't want to go through another lottery I'll just have a screen protector placed, but it's such a bummer since I wanted to go without a protector and enjoy the "bezel" feeling when the areas around the notch are black.

theres some 3d screen protector that go around the bezels and make you feel like you're using the actual screen. Here's the one that is popular.

Hey can you click a picture of your screen, running clock app in 15-20% brightness in dark room.

White and viewing angles are great. The screen is not pink, but I have a problem with a gray color.

Don't you worry if your screen hue is a little bit pinkish. After watching Erica Griffin's display test and comparing several units in different Apple Stores, I'm pretty sure that a subtle pinkish hue and shift make whites look better. The X's I've seen with direct blueish shift are not as good. Even the unit Erica Griffin praises has that slight pink hue. See her video when compared with a Samsung, the hue is pinkish. The problem is with her second unit, that never shifts to blue and it's too pinkish.

I think it's normal. It's my third Iphone X, and previously two have the same problem but to a lesser degree. Least problem has second phone who had pink screen.
This can sometimes be seen during the day, those only on evening in very dark room.

My brother's screen is almost perfect, no pink hue or shifts and grey looks good even in full dark room(clock app looks pretty good), but I can slide in a very thin paper between screen and chassis around charging port.
While in my screen grey is ok at day time, but in complete dark room I can view the defect.

Iphone X is a lottery, but don't worry and use your phone. My first phone had pink edges and crackles speaker, second had pink shifts. You can change your phone, but you may get a worse phone with another problem, your choice :D
