I find it incredible we can garner 100 posts about a smaller power adapter.
We don't have anything else to talk about anymore :\ We could always post rumours of Microsoft products. They've always got something new and innovative ;)

Is this a sign for a Compact Macbook Pro?
Every time I see this article on the frontpage I quickly read 'Compact Macbook Pro'.... and think the 12" is back :).

yeah im really bored with this topic. and im starting to feel annoyed at how expensive the adapter is
What if we together buy > 100 of these cool looking small adapters, maybe we can get a discount :).

Well, let's see, the topic of using MacBook Pro adapters with Macbooks came up, why the original brick was so large, the availability of the new adapter, when it would start shipping with the new MacBook Pros, Apple adapters vs. PC adapters. Oh and then yours about there being so many posts. I find it 'incredible' too.

New adapter for all new MBP order starting now?

Does anyone know if you buy a MBP now, does it comes with the new power adapter?

complain

Once these are standard I will be going into the store and making up a problem with my current brick. Hopefully they will warranty trade me a new one. 80 dollars for a plug is ridiculous.

Just called Apple store. They said their current MBP will have the old adapter. But if I order from Apple.com, it will be the new adapter.

Is she for real or just BSing?

For people who order power adapters, did the original fail or did you just purchase an extra one? Does AppleCare warranty the power adapter also if it fails?

i keep one at home and one at work, so i don't have to carry it around.

i just ordered the MBP last week (with two poweradapters), but i don't think they'll send the new ones. It wouldn't be worth the wait anyways.

Exactly!! We read in these posts every single day with questions about "should I wait for this to become reality" (whatever this is, peryn, multitouch, 17 Inch led screens, etc., etc.). Now we are actually talking about waiting to order so that we can get a smaller power adapter. We could end up waiting forever instead of actually buying a computer, using it and enjoying. IMHO:D

Well said. If you don't need the MBP right now and can wait till October, that would be a good plan. If you need a new notebook, then get it now :)

I love my MBP, best notebook I've ever used. I feel like I'm very lucky that I have no issues after reading threads like this, but the other side of me feels like some people may be trying to find something wrong.

Hm, my current one makes scary sizzling sounds sometimes when plugged in. I called apple care nearly two weeks ago to ask for a replacement and they said they'd mail one but it hasn't come yet. I thought that was odd since they'd probably ship from Cupertino which is just a couple hours drive from where I live. Maybe if it's delayed enough I'll get the new small one as a replacement! That'd be pretty cool... that thing is pretty big.

Will they create a web page dedicated to locating this iPowersupply? I promise you I'll be the first in line the day it comes out.

Someone in here has already received one of the new ones. End of story. :p

If you are talking about hexonxonx, he has edited his post saying he got the bigger model.

I believe it when I see it (some specifications, a press release, some end-user testimonies).

Of course, your view does kind of beg the question why people would follow rumor sites at all-- if you're not filtering the information you find here and using it to inform some sort of decision making, your time is just as well spent train spotting...

i wash my car, and it rains. i buy a macbook pro, and the adapters get updated. oh well, what can i do?

Go out and buy an iMac, I need those things updating soon.

Could well be, although I would think the power requirements of that would be even less, possibly needing less than the 60W of the MacBook. That could hopefully mean an even smaller brick.

Does Apple Legal have any right to ask that the article be removed?

Just wondering why they have any power at all over this site, unless we violate a contract we have with them or something like that.

If the material is copyrighted work by Apple, then yes, they have every right to ask for it to be removed. One of the perks of copyright is being able to have some say over how and where your work is published.

Even if it was fake, it seems to use copyrighted elements that belong to Apple, which would still give them leeway to ask for it to be pulled down.

And frankly, everyone has a right to ASK for something to be removed. Certainly if they had no legal case, MR could decline to take it down.

mac rumors must have been on to something...

They must have stumbled across some info about the upcoming ipods apple didnt want leaked. I dont think that interface looked all that impressive. If they are going to gi it more of the OSX look they should have done more. Looked like the same old lists to me.

I am guessing by your post that you think that the videos shown must be the final product, and not either a) fake or b) prototype mockups that don't reflect what the final product is?

If so, I think this is a very good illustration of EXACTLY why Apple would request to have something like this pulled. You already have people jumping to conclusions and saying "Apple should have done more", as if this is what the final product will be.

Wait...what article was / could be removed, from where? I suddenly completely lost the flow of this thread.

For the sake of discussion, I'll leave these above posts here, but please take any more of this discussion to the proper thread. Thanks.

Surely the redesign of the power adapter is to address the hundreds of reported cases where either the MagSafe connector, or the sleeving just prior to it, has either melted or caught alight.
