I don't really understand what you mean. Can you boot into any operating system? Can you boot up a Windows install DVD?

Which exact ROM did you flash in? I hope you got the right one.

The one everyone uses that is on macrumer if you google gtx680mac rom. I can load efi bootloader to select mac or windows and the apple or blue window and spinny thing starts up then 5-10 s later it freezes there. If it's the wrong rom I saved the old rom so not a huge deal, but I just want to know what is happening at the moment.

There are two ROMs on Macrumors, one for card with 2GB of RAM and one for 4GB of RAM. This is why I ask which exact ROM you used. I am trying to figure out if you flashed the wrong ROM into your card.

It is a big deal if you can't boot into Windows, because how are you going to flash your backup ROM back into the card if you can't boot up? It is possible to recover from a bad flash, but the procedure is not easy on a GTX 680.

Looks like the EFI was actually doing what it's supposed to do by showing the boot menu. The problem occurred only when booting into the selected OS partition and using the BIOS portion of the ROM. Is it possible that the flashed ROM was corrupted?? Using your Google search criteria, you seemed to get the correct 2GB version from the Abulia's post here. BTW, did you ever test the card before flashing the Mac ROM?

Agreed, it may be easier to use a PC, which doesn't rely on EFI, to reflash the ROM assuming it's still functioning properly, otherwise it may need another card to revive the dead one.

Why would I need to test the card. It was the original rom that came with the card. Is there another source for the rom other then abulia's?

I have a second graphics card I can hook to monitor to re-flash the gtx 680. Oh. Btw in gpu-Z. It said from my memory that the bios clock was the mac settings while the default was the higher settings after I flashed it and did gpu-Z. Then I shut down and wouldn't load op- sys again. My exact rom was from Aguila or whatever: https://forums.macrumors.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=407407&d=1365739768. There is the link. Sry. I was busy earlier.

That looks like the correct ROM for your card. Sorry, I don't know why you can't boot up.

Because you want to make sure you actually got a properly functioning card to start especially now that you don't?

Edit: Just saw your post in another thread directed at Abulia. At least hundreds of people have downloaded his ROM including me, and no one has reported the problem as yours. If there were any corruption of the file, it's more likely at your end.

Well I ran several games that looked great! And ran gpu-Z if that counts?

Ok. So I came home and booted up windows just fine so idk what was going on before but it seems good now. The new issues are when I flashed the new rom in I pressed yes to override the device ID to match the new firmware. Idk if that or just flashing caused GPUZ to say 0hz for the clocks and defaults to be mac specs. And when I press nvidia app in task bar it says I don't have an nvidia card plugged in. What's that all about?

Oh and GPUZ says memory is 2990MB so did I download the 4GB rom even though everyone says abulia's rom is the right one?

Hey. Does anyone know where abulia's rom came from bc there shouldn't be a mismatched subvender ID bc my card is evga and the mac card is evga. So why the discrepancy?

So I have unsuccessfully flashed and reverted to original my gtx 680 superclocked signature 2 with 2GB several times. The flashed mac version shows efi bootloader flawlessly but freezes on osx load and is sketchy on windows like overscan is messed up, GPUZ says clocks are at 0hz, sensors not responding, just quirky sketchy little things like that. Nvidia control panel says card is not recognized at nvidia. It doesn't work like what some of the posters have said about confirmed to flash sucessfully. Has anyone else had this poor experience with a signature 2 in Mac Pro. Btw I'm flashing using nvflash for windows.

As mentioned before, either you have a corrupted ROM file or your model does not conform to the reference design, assuming flashing was fine. To eliminate the first possibility, you can download the ROM file from here again. Use a File Compare utility to find out if it is identical to your own. If they are the same, then the ROM is not the problem.

Edit: It's still unclear to me whether your card behaves normally with your original ROM. Could you post a screenshot of GPU-z with the original ROM? Did you ever try to use the card in OS X with the original ROM? Other than a black boot screen, it should still work, right?

I send others the instructions to flash the 680 posted on the netkas forum link here:

http://forum.netkas.org/index.php?P...3thmb61k9gp6mg4l&topic=5709.msg21237#msg21237

Might want to check whether it matches yours. To change the file extension in windows properly go control panel folder options view and untick hide extensions for known file types..

If it's a bootcamp partition you use regularly may be an idea to check for malware. Malwarebytes free for starters followed by the weekly build of adwcleaner from bleepingcomputer.com

The mismatched subvendor ID is a normal step in the process for everyone doing this, so don't worry about that part.

I believe Abulia's ROM is correct, but you can also try the ROM from xcodeSyn's link.

Another thing you can do is find the post(s) that confirmed the Signature 2 works with the flash. Then PM them to ask if they had to perform any additional steps or if they experienced anything similar to you.

I'm sry. I've been foruming with three difforent people. Yeah the stock card worked flawlessly and great in both osx and windows. And GPUZ with stock firmware was great as well. It even showed me performance sensor readings. With new firmware none of that works and clock reads 0hz. And screen is under scanned and one screen doesn't work anymore... And no OSX. Just frozen apple spinny thing for asking as I was willing to wait...

Ok everyone :). Haha. I fixed it! Yes. It was the file. Since so many others have used the abulia file, I thk the file got currupted when I changed the file from .bin to .rom. That's the only explanation I can thk of. Anyway past is past. Ahhh. Beautiful desktops for both OSX and windows 8. And gpu-Z is dazzling again. And best part is that I'm linked to pcie 2.0 vs 1.1 bc xplane 10 can saturate pcie 2.0 potentially so gotta have it :).

New question has anyone used nibitor or whatever to change the clock speeds with a GUI?

Found out the gtx 680 is unsupported on nibitor. Any suggestions for GUI to bring mac gtx back to signature 2 specs.

Kepler BIOS tweaker is your friend. Found in this thread.

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1603260/

Now you have the regular BIOS working, you can change the speeds back to the proper speeds for your card, it saves the new rom and then you apply it onto the card. All the steps and files are in the link above.

I used it on my FTW 4GB but the steps are the same.

Since I didn't take note of my old settings before flashing it mac version, where can I get specs for gtx 680 sc signature 2?

Oh. Nm. Made new rom and flashed it. Awaiting restart sucess.

And restart with windows updates. Gpu-z is gorgeous. Good to go. Now that I've sat back and looked at what I just did I'm flabergastically amazed. I just created a $700 graphics card for $300. Nice :). Thank you all for the help. Couldn't have done without you macrumer folks.

Has anyone tried flashing a FTW LE (02G-P4-3684-KR)? It seems pretty standard, so I assume it would work, but I’d like some confirmation before I buy it haha.:p

Asus gtx680-dc2o-2gd5

Has anyone had success using an ASUS GTX680-DC2O-2GD5 in a MacPro 3,1? I know there was someone who tried it, but it was not too clear if he got the card working or started using another card. I know it has a 6 and an 8 pin connectors. I was thinking of using two 6pin to 6pin contectors off the motherboard to power it.
