Totally agree. And if Apple someday does implement a Notification light, watch the fans say they do it better, smarter, and the only way a notification light should be done.

Sorry, but way too many Apple apologist's here.

Why can't people admit the iPhone has a laundry list of lacking crucial features. I am still shocked in 2015 it sells as much as it does, just blows my mind.

But then again McDonald's sells a billion Big Mac's, and those are ****** and bad for you, but still sell like crazy
There are certainly various additions and improvements that would be good, but that doesn't mean that many "crucial" features are lacking, at least certainly not for most users.

You do know when the 6s launched 13 million voted it's okay that Apple doesn't have a notification light.

Do you honestly think every purchase equals an endorsement of every single decision the manufacturer made? That purchase equals voting the device perfect? Really?

Fact is, there is no perfect device. Every purchase will require accepting some features/designs you don't care about and doing without some features/designs you want.

IF Apple ever does add a blinky LED, it will be done better than the others... and I will admit that the iPhone might be missing a few "crucial features", but IMO, a blinky LED is not one of them. The iPhone sells well because it offers what many want - reliability, security and a plethora of useful features.

And I don't eat fast food. It's not good for you... but if one is bent on killing oneself, it's a great way to get it done.

Umm you said "perfect" not me. I said 13 million were sold; that means 13 million customers decided to acquire the device for reasons of their own choosing.

The connection I was attempting to make is the posts on the forum, imo, are way overblown to the way things really are; else if the notification light was showstopper Apple wouldn't sell one iPhone. Not that it is the perfect phone and that is why 13 million were sold. Do some people think that? I don't know and i don't care.

I dont think anyone has said it is a showstopper. It is just missing on iPhone and some people would like it. There is no way to tell if your iPhone has active notifications without touching it (I could see my notification light blinking from across the room while playing with my son for example). Then you have People in this thread arguing against it for no reason and those of us that would like a notification light (or something else that serves such a purpose) got worked up.

As a result I end up checking my phone for notifications way more than if I had a light that let me know I didn't need to. 'Lock and home screen' has been consistently 2nd on my battery charts due to the checking for notifications which is rather silly

It makes a sound/vibrates when a notification comes through so there is really no need to check the device every 15 seconds ;)

that doesnt help me when I go into another room and come back (I may be weird but I work partially from home while caring for my son and this happens alot - also work in IT where responding quickly is more than half the job). It just helps with getting unchained from the phone. A quality of life increase

If the notification light didnt have a use case it wouldnt exist :)

Gotcha turn on notification accessibility problem resolved. Turn it off when you leave the house.

I think the 'notification' light only blinks for a certain amount of time.
Unlike with R2D2, where it blinks until you check your notification, therefore less likely to miss it.

I think you can play any scenario and find one that doesn't work. At home my phone is usually in my pocket so I don't miss much.

like she said that does not resolve the problem. I'm glad you use your phone differently. I dont want to have it on my person 24/7

I'm sad that you don't think ive already tried that. must have a pretty low opinion of me :p

That's why I have a smart watch with my phone hooked up to my Bluetooth enabled DEC Panasonic phone. I don't kiss calls or texts if for example I manage not to have my phone on me like when I'm doing construction. Everybody has a different use case and they have to find what works for them. For me a smart watch is the solution.

That's correct. The current LED flash accessibility setting for notifications only flashes as the notification comes in--basically it's the visual equivalent of the sound/vibration of the notification. It doesn't really do anything after the notification has already come in, which is essentially the primary use of the non-accessibility LED notifications that exist on other devices, and what most people who are discussing them here are referring to.

At work, it is always face up on my desk so wether it makes a sound or vibrates, a quick glance at my phone when I hear it making a noise and I can see the notification.
And at home, it is always within reach.
So I have no need for an LED light nor the accessibility flash.
But that is me! I cannot speak for 13 million people

for me, as I stated in a previous post. I usually have my phone face up on a desk beside me too. However when I get an email, message or just a notification in general...I usually finish up whatever I am doing then check my phone. Often times whenever I finish up I forgot I did get a notification and move on to a next project. With the LED it is a constant reminder.

When I am at home I usually leave my phone on the coffee table and will be in the kitchen cooking or laying back in the couch. When I get a notification, I just look whatever colour flashes to see which notification it is and if it is critical. This prevents me from sitting back up and reaching for phone to check or going from the kitchen to the coffee table to check my phone.
Btw red = critical, green = whatsapp, white = whatsapp group messages, yellow = snapchat, orange = instagram, misc = blue.

EDIT: I have a lady friend I talk to often, she used an android and would usually reply really quick. From she got her iphone 6, I can kiss quick replies good bye lol. Not sure if it correlates but it seems to.

Woah!
They have multiple LED colors now?!
It has been forever since I last used one (and it was not recent) XD

I still reply quickly, though (when I can).

lol yeah it has been this way for a while. If it was just 1 or 2 colours it would definitely be a complete waste imo....or atleast much less useful. Hmm perhaps my lady friend is just avoiding me...sigh...lol.

Multi-color is definitely much more useful. Although even two or one color can be fairly useful for the more important things like missed calls and/or messages (depending on what might be more important to someone).
