Except that accessibility features have a very specific user base. If I wanted an LED I would use that. But I don't. So I don't.

Again, as mentioned before, the LED on my other devices go completely unnoticed. Including the master of LED notification, BlackBerry.
And LEDs can have a specific userbase in that sense as well. So them being there and you not using them would be the same as some accessibility setting you don't use or even some other setting like "Hey Siri" or AirDrop or AirPlay or something else like that, all of which are there and you might not necessarily care about and want but they didn't stop you from getting the device or made you be against them being there at all.

Oh yeah Airdrop that thing I've never once used ever, I want to trade airdrop for a notification light. Surely airdrop costs more money and development time to implement and maintain over a notification light

Let's not. I don't want an LED. I bought an iPhone knowing there wasn't one and that was perfect for me.
Folks who want an LED can go get a BlackBerry. They need the sales.

The iPhone has been around for what, 8 years now? No blinky LED yet. I'm betting that it's not ever coming. Thankfully. I don't need it, and really don't see the need.

But are you against it being there for those who might want to make use of it (assuming it doesn't have to be used by those who don't care about it and it doesn't change anything about the phone or its price or anything like that)?

Gotta be in it to win it
It was YOUR point. YOU were the one who brought it up as a use case.

And really....can we do without the snark? Or is that a requirement for you?
This conversation always seems to get the "android poster" people riled up. Quite frankly it's a total non-issue. I have my watch and iPad, both of which means that I don't need to be a slave to my phone and the "notification" light. The notification light is nice but the s/w option is much nicer as you can see the message.

options / choices. Not everyone wants a notification light. Not everyone wants a smart watch. Android gives you both the choice of smartwatch and/or notification light. What is so wrong with wanting that choice? It is a non issue for Apple to just toss in a 10 cent LED light. Or does that cut their profit margins too much?

Yep. Don't need another hole in the front of my iPhone... it cannot be hidden - especially on the white bezel... so very un-Apple.

oh so that is the only thing that stops you from wanting an option of a LED on your phone? If so then you dont need any hole in the front of your iPhone. Some phones have the led in the speaker grill. Hence no additional holes nor will you be able to EVER see it if you disable it. Neat huh?

Don't want an apple watch and the ipad doesn't help in the same scenarios a notification light does. (Awefully expensive for a notification checker too) That only works when you are actively using the ipad.

You should clarify that it is a non issue for you.

I get worked up because a notification light is such an obscenely simple request with no downsides

I guess it depends on its implementation, and if it's like that, I can see that being a reasoning someone who might not care about it might actually be against it being there at all. But what if it can be done without the appearance of the phone changing--let's say it's part of the ring around the home button or where the earpiece is, basically so that from the outside things don't look any differently?

Agh, the annual 'I wish the iPhone had a notification light thread'. Always good for a laugh.

Here buy this $350+ watch (that I also think is ugly) so you don't need a 10 cent led light

Apple sales assistant "now all you got to do is ensure you charge it ever night and don't forget it when you leave home. It will also be ideal for you to upgrade yearly. See no need for a notification light".

No. The only thing that stops me from wanting it is that I DON'T WANT IT. I don't need it. If you want an option on your device that isn't there, maybe you should buy a device that has that option.

I'd wager the farm that Apple has received multiple requests, and still refused to add it. Must be a good reason. Of course, you are free to try again:

It's fine that you don't want it. What is silly is you arguing against it. You should be buying the black front if you care about aesthetics anyway because the other already implemented sensors are black as well.

So now you have the right to tell me what to buy? Nice. You should buy a Blackberry and enjoy your blinky LED.

No I'm saying if those aesthetics matter to you you are already better off buying the black front as it is.

At least that is the reason why I currently only consider the space grey model

In other words that is a bad argument against a notification light.

Okay look at it like this.

10 million iPhone users don't want an LED. 1 million iPhone users wants an LED. If apple placed it behind the speaker grill and disabled it by default then 11 million persons will be happy. Those who dont want it won't know it is there. Those who want it will enable it.

What is so wrong with making 11 million iPhone user happy vs the 10 million iPhone users happy? Please give me a LEGITIMATE reason why this would be a problem.

Silly Blaze4G, don't you understand? If Apple says you don't need it then you're wrong to want it. Giving it to you would just be enabling your wrongness. Disrespecting Apple's infallible wisdom is a heretical problem.

LOL! You are right, I should bow down and beg Apple for forgiveness for I have sinned. Take me to the Promise Land Apple, where everything you say and do is right. Shun those who have a different wants and needs for they have sinned.

Try to convince Apple. If they add it, so be it. My money says they won't.
