I say we go on a hunger strike until we get what we want. And we're not going to stop at Merom MBPs. We want: Single processor tower, full video iPod, iPhone, DVR mini, 20" MBP w/ 2 HDDs, 30" iMac, movie rentals, lossless iTunes downloads, updated Airport, Blu-Ray standard, HD-DVD standard, bluetooth/wireless iPod, Merom mini & MB, iTV w/ DVR, flash boot-up, Leopard now, Apple 60" plasma TV, Mac OS to run all Windows apps, death to shared graphics, and free processor upgrade Tuesdays.

Who will join me?

:D :D :D

Feel free to add to my list. All I can think of for now.

Dude, you forgot the 82" 1080p DLP TV with dual HDMI and direct DVI inputs, the 46" 8MP LCD, 1920x1080 iSight with optional stereo 3D upgrade and the Mac Pro and MBPs also available in black anodized aluminum.

And may Apple bring back the cube next month and put a 2.33GHz quad-core Kentsfield CPU in there with nVidia 7950GX2 512MB video and Blu-Ray superdrive for $1,699. :D

- edit - Oh, and I want world peace too.

I Like That List • Kentsfield Cubes Oh Yeah!

Oh yeah. Kentsfield Cubes with 3 PCIe slots would be so happening.

Why would anyone buy a Mac Pro again?

Because you can.

That's right.

Who are you to tell me what to and what not to do? What gives Apple's marketers the gall to impose such artificial restrictions on us? Considering I can already do it with their competitors products that costs half as much?

Barney.

Meh...

**Start RANT**
get a MacBook PRO now. I did last week. Shove 2 Gigs of ram in it and you are set for a few years.

And for those who are waiting for the 64 bit business. Get over it.

Seriously, why would you want to have more than 2 GB OF ram in a notebook.... If you are running out of ram, quit an app. If you need more ram, buy a Mac Pro - they are cheaper anyway.

And as for Core2 duo. How many of you are actually going to use both cores at 100% to actually notice the difference between the yonah and the merom?? Are you the type of person to go around the office getting your mate with the older Macbook pro to encode an identical file in H264 to prove that yours is faster.

You would be nuts trying run processors at 100% on a Notebook all the time. The processors would burn straight thru the casing into a molten blob of silicon and you maybe lucky to get 30 mins of battery life...

**End Rant***

aussie_geek - Happily typing this post on a 1 week old Macbook Pro :p

Wow what an original comment. So you've made the decision to buy now, and in order to make yourself feel more justified in your decision you are denigrating other people's positions.

Its mainly about the fact that the Macbook Pro is poor value for money as it stands - the Macbook which came out much later is much better value for money. It stands to reason that a revision of the MBP will also be better value for money.

same here i think i'm going to wait it out and get a used ibook g4 until santa rosa, since i'll be a switcher. I can't wait to switch.

if i were you i'd just get a macbook~ better resale value. my gf has an ibook g4 that she's looking to unload and spend another ~$4-500 or so for a macbook, and she thinks it's worth it.

i do hope that they will add better cooling in the MBP and MB. a real small high flow fan to suck in air from the out side that goes over the mobo and keep the CPU fan also would prolly be a better cooling solution than what it is now in the MB and MBP

so just add a fan to the setup would maybe cool the system down allot . cause for one the only fan in them is the cpu fan wich is blowing hot air over the mobo which in terns makes the system run hotter. they need to make the CPU fan eject the air to the out side and not blow on the mobo and have a small fan sucking air from the outside for the mobo's use or reverse it to where the air is pulled from the case to the out side.

apple can do a little bit to the MB and MBP to make it cool allot better than what they do now.

sorry for the rant but that is my outtake of what i want apple to do to the MB and MBP, not to mention the core 2 duo update

yea and maybe youll have to wait 3-4months for it like now we are waiting for meroms

What sort of time would an upgrade normally happen? 9am GMT-5?

(Sorry if this has been asked a million times before, I tried the search function but didn't come up with anything)

The store usually goes down between 1300 and 1330 GMT.

Then you should buy a Dell. A fan like that would result in a vent. Oh noes! Breaks Jonathan's clean and elegant design!

And what laptop, in your opinion, actually runs cool???

My PowerBook is on my lap quite often, and unless it's a hot summer day, it doesn't bother me...it actually keeps me warm in the winter ;)

why does it have to come out at 9am? why not 10, 11, 12?

I think it's historically (generally) by 9am.
Could be before...from what I've gathered, it seems to be between 6am and 9am PST.

(Except for the cases of special events, like MWSF...etc)
