Heck you are asking to much... I just came from the Photokina one now we are talking moving again... Man oh man... j/k.

Anyways I think this thread needs a poll to add some interest.

One like:

Merom Redesign - 10/10
- 10/17
- 10/24
- 10/31
- Etc.
For choices.

Along with:

Merom No new design - 10/10
- 10/17
- 10/24
- 10/31
- Etc.

I think it'd be fun to see what everyone is thinking though probably is just me again...

Oh and a choice of:

Merom? Who gives a F... about merom anymore
i was talking about the full laptop refresh for holidays. it's been around for a while. Why not stay there instead of having two separate threads about the same thing. Makes no sense whatsoever to me.

Don't mean to stir the pot, but is that not a hell of a long time?

Guess it is, when I bought it (friday October 6th) and gave that date, I thought... what if it come with the F+++ merom, but then I change my mind, don't want any more dissaponted feelings, and will enjoy my MBP and my ipod very much, a happy consumer, like I'm from 1987 with the Classic II that my brother still use!

anyway, to those who still can wait, don't give up, or better expect the Merom with santa rosa, sounds the better option

Where is there a FREE IP to Fax service? Outgoing calls to fax machines are either free now or VERY low cost to the degree one could pay $24.95 per YEAR for this and the service provider would RAKE IN CASH.

Incoming faxes could have a recipient recognition feature.

Rocketman

I got one for free with my DSL connection (ISP: Demon Internet)

Don't you think that would just be a MBP

I also want to buy a quad core computer, none of that $3000 price tag ****, just put it into a simple mac mini form factor will do if that will save money during manufacturing. After all aluminium is very expensive today, that's probably why the mac pro costs $3000. Also I want upgradeable graphics and hard drive. none of this non user serviceable ****....

Oh, and please just call it the mac mini and charge $599 for it...

and it could have a motorised 30" screen that comes out the top and unfolds when you turn it on!

Not to add fuel to the fire...

...but Apple just cancelled my MBP order stating that they were no longer available, the order was placed on Sept 28 and was supposed to be delivered today. I guess I can wait a few more days....

maybe tomorrow is the day...

So, in anticipation of getting my own powerbook, I wanted to learn more about just what a Core Duo was, relative to my 1.33Ghz 17", and late last night, the "learn more" link was dead. I tried at 1am then, 3am, and again now at like 8:50am, still dead.

http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APP...e.woa/wo/0.RSLID?mco=925997E8&nclm=MacBookPro

http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/intelcoreduo.html = DEAD

It's been like that for a couple weeks.
The web developer needs to have their head examined, this is the intended link:

If this indeed is true, how could Apple NOT update it's existing models very soon (tomorrow or 10/17/06)? I don't see Apple denying orders to customers who are ready to purchase MBP's for an extended period of time.

Is this true?

Because if it is it can only be good news!!

Dear Sky
Hurry up with my new 0% Credit Card because Apple will be releasing the new Macbook Pro soon. I need it ASAP!!!

Thanks
Tim Millwood

no kidding

I am trying to get my purchasing agent to email me the message from Apple right now. I called the Apple higher ed phone line and the operator wouldn't confirm anything, but they don't just cancel orders on a whim. This one has a valid PO number.

Please More Detail On Canceled Order

Please provide more detail. How were you notified? Where are you? Please copy and paste the exact content of the communication.

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with purchasing Apple products via a distributer besides Apple's online store directly (i.e. Amazon.com, bhphoto.com, etc.) and was able to make a purchase as soon as the new product was released at the Apple online store?

I ask this because...
a. I would like to purchase my MBP as soon as it updates, and...
b. I was looking for avenues that could save me money (On tax, and the unit price itself)

If Amazon and other major online stores do not update right away I would probably end up just ordering at Apple's online store but was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this (ordering right away through an online store not of Apple's and still being able to order right away).

Thanks in advance for any help.

**EDIT**
I ask because of this
- Apple EDU Store MBP (Mid-range model, nothing changed) $2,299.00 + $163.23 tax + Free Shipping = $2462.23
- bhphoto.com MBP (Mid-range model, nothing changed) $2249.95 + No Tax + Free Shipping = $2249.95

Who wouldn't want to save $212.28 by looking around? I'll probably end up getting 1GB more of Ram for 120.00 at Newegg and if I were to compare that exact same model with APPLE'S option for 2GB of Ram + Tax I would then be saving approx. $380 if I were to purchase through (bhphoto.com).

Am I stupid to be thinking about saving money? I guess I'll just make my decision at the last minute and see if bphoto.com has updated the same day as apple.

Where to buy

Sorry, screwed up this post and can't delete it. What I meant to say is down further...
