I'm not leaving MR - I just won't have any time for this game anymore.

I don't see this adventure being wrapped up by December. I'm happy to stick with it until it falls apart. :)

to do:

- Visit Sister Graele at the Shrine of Luck.

- Visit Qelline Alderleaf and her son Carp at their farm to find out the location of the secret passage.

- REWARD -- Orcs near Wyvern Tor (Take a day, kill some orcs, get a reward, and maybe get some more info on Cragmaw Castle).

- Halia Thornton will pay us 100 GP to take care of Glasstaff (Redbrands) at Tresendar Manor and bring back documents.

- Sildar Hallwinter will give us 200 GP to find Iarno Albrek. Iarno Albrek knows the location of Cragmaw Castle and he was last seen near Tresendar Manor.

Bifur CU Oval.sm4.pngIsn't life one big adventure? I say go for the nearest opportunity first. I say let's go visit Tresendar Manor. Maybe they will invite us in for tea.

Re other actions, I will need to pay a visit to Sister Garaele as I believe that we may need to hear what she has to tell us.

Is @twietee leaving MR, or just this particular corner of it, come December?

Given that the turns are - clearly - taking longer, - for perfectly good RL reasons - a more leisurely game has become the norm.

@twietee can correct me but I believe he is leaving MR for many months.

edited: Corrected by his previous post. He's leaving the game.

Say to everyone: I myself think we should first visit Sister Graele and then visit the halfling Qelline Alderleaf before going to the mansion. Sister Graele may have information we need on the mansion and the secret passage may have something to do with the Redbrands and the mansion. In any case, we need to finish up with this ruffian and take a short rest first.

Me neither. But I'll be out nonetheless.
edit: maybe I wasn't clear: it's not up for debate. :) And no, I'm not "leaving" MR. I just don't want to commit to a game that I won't have time for.

Ok, I reckon Syllin has a strong surge to visit said temple - so let's do just that, rest afterwards and get going. Ok?

Back to the original question. What do we do with the ruffian. Technically, the Redbrands are working for the town so nothing good for us will happen if we turn him in.

I sensed a divided town over the issue of Redbrands and would like to send a sign that we are not to be fooled with ;)

But if you have concerns about it: we can drag the bodies around the corner and get going (taking our hostage along the way to the mansion - Like we did before with that poor goblin).
Turning him in to that local sheriff (so to speak) won't help much since I believe he was rather part of the problem than the solution.

Bifur CU Oval.sm4.png <Regarding what to do next> Fine by me, whatever the group decides.

<Regarding the ruffian> Despite what Veit may think of me, I'm not into murder. Is there any authority that exists within this town? Would it do any good to ask around? I assume not. I'm open to suggestions including letting him go.

1) Tie him up somewhere safe. It's obvious that we will need rooms tonight so maybe we continue to rent the two rooms at the inn and stash him in one of them.
2) Turn him in (might be difficult).
3) Release him. Someone with a high intimidation (Dalo (@Huntn) or Veit (@twietee)) needs to tell the ruffian that he needs to make himself scarce (preferably out of town) for a few days. If the Redbrands (particularly Glasstaff) found out that he surrendered after the battle, they wouldn't hesitate to eliminate him.

My preference would probably be choice one.

I agree. Release him now to the authorities and it's likely they'll have a welcome party arranged at the manor as soon as we'll arrive. Not that I mind a fine welcome party.

1) for me as well. @ravenvii how late is it? Already dark outside?

I was of the opinion it might be afternoon. Still should be plenty of time to get the rooms, stash the prisoner, rest one hour for spells / healing and to discuss our plans, visit the sister and then visit the halfling farmer. Attacking the mansion at night might be a good strategy ?

I myself plan to make a short detour to buy that rapier.

I'm good with 1). We should consider putting up help wanted signs for replacing Barty and Veit, either new people drop into existing characters or totally new characters. I (one of us) could post a message in this forum outside of this thread. Thoughts?

Nah, I was wondering if we could sneak our prisoner unseen into the stable of our tavern. I'd volunteer to take a nap alongside our friend - just in case. We should ask the inn-keeper what a little extra would cost for one night and give him a coin no questions asked.

Get that rapier right away.

Syllin goes to the temple.

I'll wait at the inn.

Dalo and Portia do whatever they like. Heavy drinking and cards are involved me thinks.

We go to bed early and tackle the mansion (very) early tomorrow. Maybe there'll be some ruffians who drank too much tonight.
[doublepost=1479405709][/doublepost]^ those are my suggestions of course, not orders

Good suggestions except I think we should stay together. No need to babysit the prisoner if he is bound and gagged in a room.

In any case, let's head to the inn right now. Any discussions on what we do over ales count as our short rest. We can all see the sister after our short rest.

@ravenvii, head back to the inn and get two rooms for the night. Keep the ruffian out of sight with a sword / hammer at his back until we figure out how to get him into our room.

On the way to the inn, buy the rapier at the coster. It was 25 GP.

I like the idea of sticking together as we don't know how many goon squads they have wondering about town. I'll follow. What do you guys (@Scepticalscribe @Moyank24) think about this?

Sorry guys, was a busy couple of days.

As Claus grabs the ruffian and forces him upwards, a voice comes from behind you.

"WHO, for the love of whatever diety is up there, is going to clean this?!"

The female dwarf is standing on the porch of the Sleeping Giant surveying the mess before her.

She looks at Dalo and narrowed her eyes with recognition, but did not say a word.

Looking over the party, she finally says, "I rather like those Redbrands, now that they're dead. I'll say you what -- you pay me 25 gold pieces to clean this up, and I won't say a word. Hmm?"

She looks at Bartholomeo with raised eyebrows, likely under the assumption that a nobleman such as himself would have the gold pieces.

"Ma'am, I do apologize for the... disarray. However..." he looks at the party sideways for an hint of how he should response.

What was that secret passage about again?

Otherwise I think, after we've rested which is a given imo, we should head to that Mansion. That is if you don't want to re-group before, which I would have zero problems with. You can get that reward etc. pp. afterwards still.

And I'll leave this game at whatever time my daughter pleases to grace the earth - I just won't have enough time to commit by then - and you don't want to wait for my actions for that long either.
A daughter, huh? Congratulations, man!

I completely understand if you want to leave the game. It'll be a pity for sure, but you got bigger fish to fry :)

I'll send you a PM on how you'd like your character handled.

I'm cool with asking if anyone else wants to join and take up @twietee's spot. No announcements until @twietee actually leaves though -- I don't want to keep him/her waiting as long as I've kept @Huntn waiting :)

Quietly to party: She will just take our money and then tell the Redbrands. Our best bet is either Veit (@twietee) or Dalo (@Huntn) to intimidate her.

Loudly: Perhaps either Dalo or Veit can explain the facts. We are quite annoyed at the Redbrands right now so you don't want to identify yourself as a friend of them. If you look at the bodies, you will see that most of them are barbecued and we came outside to avoid damaging your tavern. We don't plan on being back here but, if we think you are working with the Redbrands, the next fight might be inside your tavern. We can't guarantee that we can control the flames.

"Are YOU threatening me?"

She takes a step forward as three patrons step outside behind her. One of them yells, "No one threatens Grista here and walk. We are grateful that you've reduced the number of Redbrands causing trouble, but I'm startin' to get a feelin' that you're more trouble than them."

"We don't like the Redbrands either, but we ain't up to doing free labor. 25 gold pieces to clean this up. Simple as that, else we'll figure he's -- " Grista glances at the patron who spoke "-- right. Do you figure he's right?"

Steps up to Grista and the patrons:

"You've got to excuse my rude friend here - the fight was long and exhaustive and all we wanted to do this afternoon was having a drink or two at your fine house.

I assume the Redbrands are bad for business? We are a bit short of money right now but don't want to ask for any free labor as well of course..so maybe we can make some sort of deal? We give you 4gp per body to disappear and no questions asked and another 4gp for any helpful information you can give us about Tres...Manor. That'd be 16gp or 20gp respectively and a fair deal I'd say.

Please mind that we didn't pick up this fight to begin with and are about to help this town solve the problem of the Redbrands."

Heads up- I'm leaving Monday or Tuesday for a Turkey Day rendezvous and I won't be back home until Saturday. My responses may be sporadic during this time frame.

Bifur CU Oval.sm4.png <Addressing Grista and the Patrons using intimidation> Are you people nuts? Your town is overrun by thugs, as far as I can tell who are abusing just about everyone, even hauling paying customers out of your establishment to beat them. In this case we intervened, politely asking them not to pick on, whoever the drunk's name is, I'm sure one of your valued citizens or at least friends. We are viciously attacked in response, defend ourselves, and you want us to pay you 25g, a preposterous amount to haul away the bodies to some nearby ditch? Maybe you should be paying us for one less group of thugs on the loose?

Grista cocked her eyebrows.

"You're going to solve the Redbrand problem?"

She laughs and spits on the ground. "I tell you what. You pay me 25 gold pieces. And if you solve the Redbrand problem, you come back here, and I'll pay you back double."

Grista looks at you with a mocking sneer, clearly not believing you will 'solve the Redbrand problem'.

Grista isn't one to be intimidated easily, so it'll take a 15 to do so:

Dalo: 3

She completely ignores your rant and kept her attention on Veit. A darkening of her face tells you that she heard, however. You get a bad feeling this will come back to bite you later down the road.

"That's the last coins I got but expect to see us back in a couple of days. *smiles* So nothing on Tresnador Manor? Give us a little head-start..
We'll finish some urgent business in town first and then will head there and clean house - probably the day after tomorrow."

To party, quietly: " I say we still take our hostage with us - I wouldn't want to put too much trust into strangers. And he can still be useful to us."
