Yes, anim8or, as far as I know that's correct. You do NOT want the 1.1.3 baseband on your phone if you aren't not an AT&T, O2, Orange, blah blah etc customer at least until you can unlock using that (maybe never, who knows). If you're an AT&T customer then you're perfectly fine upgrading to the 1.1.3 baseband and its probably preferable unless you have some plans to switch off the network in the foreseeable future. Just don't upgrade to 1.1.3 the legit iTunes method on a 4.6 bootloader iPhone or you're basically screwed until its unlocked with the new baseband.

Thank you.

I am an O2 payandgo user with a jailbroken 1.1.2 ootb iPhone.

Can i upgrade to 1.1.3 and still use the phone functions once iv jailbroken it from that point (downgrade then upgrade and jailbreak etc)?

Can i get a couple of simple answers, well as simple as possible, please.

If you have a 1.1.2 ootb iPhone and wish to continue using the phone features and wish to jailbreak 1.1.3, am i correct in saying DO NOT UPGRADE TO 1.1.3 THE ITUNES WAY or you are screwed?

I ask as there seems to be a lot of people who have done so and now cannot use their phone as a phone!

If i put it simply, once you've upgraded to 1.1.3 from an ootb 1.1.2 (jailbroken or not) you can only use phone functions if you are a legitimate AT&T, O2, Orange, etc iphone tariff customer?

are you sure if so my phone is screwed is there anyway to fix this

What about you? Did you update to Installer.app 3.0b10 before upgrading to 1.1.3?

I can't find the it anywhere yet, so it might have to wait till I get back to my home wireless and can pull the file off my own iPhone.

I would really appreciate a way to get the latest Install.app that will work with 1.1.3 since I did not upgrade it during the process. I am guessing the only other way to do it is to start all over again?

Unfortunately i dont have the answer for this.

I have read the guide many times, contemplating to do the 1.1.3 jailbreak from my 1.1.2 jailbroken iPhone but i have seen so many people who have either not read or mis-read the guide that got me thinking that there must be some confusion.

Credit to Sbrocket for the guide, i think everyone needs to really have a good read of the guide a few times before taking the plunge.

Sbrocket> any chance you could include a little bullet point at the start of the guide saying something concerning ootb 1.1.2 iPhones should not be upgraded the apple way or they will lose functionality as a phone once the baseband has been upgraded, that includes non iphone tariff sims that belong to the respective country locks.

I do notice you have '(ONLY if you are a valid AT&T/O2/etc customer)' at the top but could you possibly elaborate for those who need clarifiction

Heh, silly thing is I almost did. But, didn't 'thinkin' I should follow the instructions exactly. :)

That wasn't addressed to you. I'll write detailed steps for the guide once I can be sure this works.

Sorry, I am just sitting here with terminal on and the file on my desktop and thought I would try it for you and let you know how it went.

I will patiently await word.

I sincerely appreciate all of your work in putting this guide together. Excellent work.

*sigh*

If you place the Installer.app file on your Desktop, the command would be:

scp ~/Desktop/Installer.app root@<IPADDRESS>:/Applications

jackiemac: Below is a rapidshare link to the 3.0b10 version of Installer.app. Try scp/rscp uploading it to /Applications and let me know if that fixes your crashes.

Woo hoo it works! Thanks very much! :D

Here's what I did:
1) Download Installer.app using link provided by Sbrocket above.
2) Open Terminal and connect to your phone using ssh (password "alpine")
3) "ssh root@<ip address of your iphone>" (where "<ip address of your iphone> is the... ip address of your iphone. For example: "ssh root@10.0.1.15")
3) "cd /Applications"
4) "mv Installer.app /var/root" (this is to keep the old Installer around, just in case)
5) Disconnect from your iPhone (usually control-D will do this)
6) In Terminal, "scp -r ~/Desktop/Installer.app root@<ip address of your iphone>:/Applications/" (This assumes the Installer.app you downloaded is on the desktop. Enter "alpine" when asked for a password) You'll see a bunch of text fly by as the files are copied to your iPhone.
7) Restart your iPhone (I don't know if this is necessary, but I did it.) :)

I hope this helps!

Alright, time to load up the 3rd party apps!!!

Again, thanks so much for the extensive instructions!

Just so folks know how well this guide works, here's what I've confirmed is working (that have been issues with other 1.1.3 jailbreak guides):
- Google Maps Hybird view
- Google Maps Locate Me
- Playing of iTunes-purchased music
- iTunes music previews
- Syncing contacts, calendar, etc. (via iTunes)
- EDGE
- Standard and iTunes Custom ring tones

And with the proper Installer update (which I'm sure instructions will be added to the guide soon):
- Installer.app works and installs 3rd party apps!

My biggest suggestion to folks who use this guide to jailbreak 1.1.3 -- Don't Panic! Be patient and follow the instructions. :)

I hope this helps.

great to hear, i do hve a question, however :p Are you on a legit iphone/provider (att, o2...) or a hacktavated/unlocked one? If non-legit, what simsolution, or unlock did you use? Just curious and hesitant to upgrade my 1.1.2 jb hacktivated (stealthsim) to 1.1.3.. I know it wont do the baseband if i follow the guide but still :)

Anyone know how to get OpenSSH installed? I get "Package download failed: can connect to host!" I can browse the net with Safari via my wireless connection.

I think the source is hosed... I don't even see it in the list after installing the community sources package, and refreshing. Maybe they are having trouble???

On a second note, I finally got 1.1.3 jailbroken in all of it's glory, but now I have no way to get the lockdownd on the phone so I can actually use it as a phone again. I tried to install the command line util and ncftp, so I could ftp-get it from my PC to the phone, but I can't use the command line because its prompting me for a password, and 'alpine' won't work. Hopefully, they will fix whatever is wrong with the source so I can get openssh installed, and have a happy phone again.

Anyone have any insight, or alternative methods of downloading lockdownd and chmod +x'ing it? Or how can I get the openssh package??? Thanks in advance.

I'm locked into AT&T. (Yes, that's a sideways dig at AT&T :p)

At least it isn't just me. I'm trying iBrickr Special Edition right now.

I'm guessing a buh-gillion folks are trying to download OpenSSH today. The servers are probably swamped. Keep trying.

I hope this helps. :)

I don't even see it in the package list... At least helmsc has it in the list of available apps... lol

Hmm, check that the Ste Packaging source is listed in Sources.

Also, check the Uninstall tab. Perhaps Installer thinks it's already installed? You may have to uninstall and re-install it.

I hope this helps.

The Ste souce isn't there. Do you know the url I can add to make it work?
